Diamond freestylers are so unique. They seem to put up champ-like shots quite easily. It's interesting that somebody like the D3 in this video is still in that rank while being able to put up great shots. It goes to show that ranking up is not all about HOW to take the shot, but WHEN to take the shot. Good on him, though. I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up in champ soon.
As a player who hovers around C3/Low GC, if I had the Diamond’s mechanics, I’d be set. If he learned proper positioning, passing, and solid 50/50’s, he could reach GC easily.
Most average diamond enter their “Freestyle Era” thru diamond as get consistent with air dribble, start learning ceiling shots, mustys, breezis. And they are either satisfied where they are at finally doing what they’ve always wanted or they still have desire to rank up more and learn to play as a good tm. Being A 20 yo D3 and coming across a 7 year old champ I really figured that out. It’s all about what you want in your life. Just like most people hit GC once for the tag and then let their ranks go back down to diamond - plat and that’s what we call Smurfs. Bc they want to play like GCs without playing against other GCs.
Could just be putting all his efforts into mechs and nothing else. Mechs will only take you so far, especially if you're not really putting any effort into team play.
@@TherapyGel As a diamond I can tell you I don't know many diamonds that when told to go "top left" would think "yeah imma take it off the wall." With mechs like those I have a strong feeling he just needs to find a partner that's willing to play backfield and recover when he whiffs. (Also yo if that diamond is reading this HMU I gotchu XD)

When high ranked players tell you to not learn mechs, they mean resets n shit. No one ever says "dont learn wavedashes and half flips", those are the exact easy mechs you should learn instead of resets

Most of the diamond mechanics were mechanics ive never seen a diamond hit consistently, other then freestylers. Hitting a double flipreset is something I see ssl players struggle with. I dont know how you picked the players, but I dont think it was a very reasonable presentation of those ranks.

That diamond had good mechanics for that rank. I'm only diamond 1, but I only see someone hit a reset like once every 20 games down here. I see attempts, but they either fail or are slow and insanely easy to stop. Idk how it is closer to champ, but I was impressed.

As someone who's been bouncing between Diamond 3 and Champ 1 for months, I feel like I'm somewhat of an expert on what Diamonds are actually capable of, and I would say maybe 1% of them, or less, could do all the shots the Diamond had to do in this video. The only one I think a decent number of Diamonds could do is the jump and catch dribble, and a simple ground double tap. All the rest, no way. And literally none of those things are actually necessary to get through diamond, though being able to ground double tap is certainly useful. For a real list I would put... Backboard defense Fast Aerial Bounce Dribble Any Basic Flick Long Boomer Shot 50/50s Airroll Shot.
Yeah im a low champ and I can barely air dribble, ceiling shot, flip reset, but the other champs aren't good enough at them to be threatening, so its super easy to defend

I'm calling it a ground pinch. a pinch isn't always from the corner or front of the nose of the car.. he literally pinched the ball(notice the rapid ball speed increase) it was a pinch... wasn't specified it had to be a traditional pinch... so technically he got ripped off.
This shows a great example of someone who is probably a rotational or situational aware player albeit ranked play. Vs a mechanical player who most likely has no team awareness in diamond. I think it would be interesting to see the inverse of the 2 in a video.
I’m plat as well and some pointers for positron is make sure to air roll and start further up onto the field also view ball cam about half a second before you jump off the wall. Good luck ❤

Man I feel for the plat, being told and having the perception of it being a must to know all these fancy mechs even if they are completely useless for plat below ranks.
I’m a low GC - have been since season 12. I’ve never attempted a ceiling shot, flip reset, musty, I know how to do a scuffed wave dash and scuffed half flip but rarely use them in ranked.
I really should put in the time to learn some more advanced mechanics.. I’d probably rank up to GC2-3 relatively quickly if I became proficient at the mechanics I listed above. Having said that, I really don’t think any flashy mechanics are needed until you hit GC. Positioning, 50/50’s, fast aerials, and quick confident play are more than enough to get you near to GC.
Out of these wave dash is usuful to maintain speed, espacially if you're jumping on/off walls and half flip to turn around quicker, the rest is just optional I'd say

you should also specify each individual's played hours in the game for some more perspective. That Diamond had obviously spent some good hours in freeplay freestyling.
Me as a silver who has grinded to learn my first only semi consistent mechanic: the half flip. Yet I get too stressed in games and end up not using it xD
I met a freestyler once in a champ tournament cup, he was my teammate and a bad one, i checked RL tracker and he was Plat, so i called him boosted and he decided to 1v1 me. BO3, in first game e won like 10-0 or something (can't remember), in second game i kinda threw and still won easily, he kept crying "you can do only flicks" and i didn't used any flick for second game. Now i must say, his air control was actually insane, surely better the mine (I'm C1), but he was just unable to score on me, he could air dribble and flip reset only open nets, every other shots he tried was terrible and his defense was 💩. My conclusion is that freestylers in low ranks are good at freestyling but they are stuck there cause they just miss all the basic mechanics that are more important to be a good player. I know there can be exceptions but i think the majority of low rank freestylers fit in this category.
