Suggestion for youtube shorts::: 1. Allow horizontal videos so it picks up detail 2. Allow 30 seconds music for free. 3. Shorts should be between 15, 30, 60 and 120 seconds.
Don’t underestimate SHORTS!!! Its a powerful tool!! Share with you my experiment of posting the same video twice: one was posted “as horizontal” with 1.01 minute and the second same video as a “shorts” 58 sec. with the same title, descriptions, keywords and guess what… In first - 86 views (0 subscribers) Sorts - 2k views ( +58 subscribers)

I've been making and posting TH-cam Shorts on my channel since they were in Beta and you could only post them if you did the #Shorts in the title or description. Had this idea myself since I said to myself well, is a brand new thing for TH-cam, obviously they as a bussiness want to grow with it and for sure they will promote them to the world's end. I was right and I'm proud for it, and the results are incredible, I think I've made like 1000 subscribers in 3 months with them, keep in mind that I have a cooking channel, based on just 1 country, Romania, and for me to get this attention was huge. Also, i kept improving them as time has gone by because I think the better the quality, the more people will attract. So in short, if YOU, random internet guy, have a TH-cam channel, don't hesitate to transform your long form videos into #Shorts , you will not regret it!
For my son's channel works perfectly. He got thousands of views in few days,some videos went viral. He got subscribers also from shorts. For new TH-camrs it's the best things,can grow your channel very fast. even the other normal videos got some good views. Definitely best thing on TH-cam for new TH-camrs

Fantastic tutorial as always! Thank you and added to my TH-cam resources playlist 💪🏻 as someone new to creating TH-cam content, I like Shorts format because it eliminates the video editing (or at least limits your options) technical knowledge you need to know but at the same time getting your foot on the TH-cam door but introducing you to the "Admin" side of TH-cam - video titles, description, thumbnail, etc. At the very start of any TH-cam channel, IMO, just getting started and not overthinking the entire video production process helps and this designated Shorts tool is good as it has all the basic tools you need. Plus, the tools use are so similar to other Social app that it makes it easy to focus on content and as you get better and get the first couple of videos under your belt, you can then start looking into getting better quality. thank you thank you again Justin and team for this video!

As for shorts, they are great; I spend a lot of time with my students talking about shorts. It magnifies the need for engagement and storytelling. These skills then help creators make better long forms. In Broadcast, tv shorts and all short-form content are vital tools to draw people into the audience. We take a 360-integrated approach to marketing and finding the audience. Anyone who sits back and thinks the audience will find you is fooling themselves. You need to go and get them!!

Yes, the #TH-cam #shorts are really great to interact with viewers. From June to July I increased the views tenfold, also 1.5 million. From July to August and this is not over yet, quadrupled to 6.3 million. I am therefore close to the 10 million mark since the creation of the channel. In my #lego niche alone, I was able to win over 6,000 subscriptions in August, just because of the #shorts! So I can count myself lucky that I now have the largest #Lego TH-cam channel on Lake Constance or in all of #Southern Germany. So a great tool that #TH-cam gives us to grow!
@V12 Masterpiece No not true. Sometimes, if time permits, I work 2 or even 4 days in advance. The goal is to get the next and correct #TH-cam #Playbutton😉 By the way, in August I was able to finish with 6.7 views.

If your video fits the requirements to be a shorts video, it will automatically be uploaded as a short 👍 the hashtag would only help if you are concerned about your video not showing as a short but it shouldn't affect your reach to audiences. Glad you liked it Ralf! That is something we are still experimenting with. We currently don't share to our subscribers but that may change in the future. It really depends how much you want to share to your subscribers and what they expect from you. If you don't share to your subscribers, they should still be suggested your shorts videos on the app so they won't miss out 👍
If someone has troubles in uploading more than 15 seconds videos from his own gallery, you should press the "15" button over the recording button to change the length from 15 to 60 than you should be able to upload a longer video :)
As of posting this comment, I have been doing TH-cam shorts for just over a month, and let me tell you... I post like this: midnight, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, midnight - and my channel has went from 0 - 360 subs as well as 140k views.. Shorts are just so good for new channels, I can't wait to see where I will be in a years time!
So what if I wanted to edit old content/videos and turn a specific part of one of my videos into a short? I have seen TH-camrs do this, and would like to do this as well.

Glad you liked it Ralf! That is something we are still experimenting with. We currently don't share to our subscribers but that may change in the future. It really depends how much you want to share to your subscribers and what they expect from you. If you don't share to your subscribers, they should still be suggested your shorts videos on the app so they won't miss out 👍

If someone has troubles in uploading more than 15 seconds videos from his own gallery, you should press the "15" button over the recording button to change the length from 15 to 60 than you should be able to upload a longer video :)

As of posting this comment, I have been doing TH-cam shorts for just over a month, and let me tell you... I post like this: midnight, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, midnight - and my channel has went from 0 - 360 subs as well as 140k views.. Shorts are just so good for new channels, I can't wait to see where I will be in a years time!

Yep, that's possible. You can repurpose your videos.

Thank you for this super-helpful breakdown! Random question: is it ok to upload my first short on its own so it will be several days before I can produce a second one? Does it look "weird" on the Shorts "platform", or is it counterproductive, to only have ONE short up there to begin with? How will this affect traffic and prospects in Shorts? (Another version of my question would be, should you create 5-10 shorts before you even upload them?)

This was so helpful. Ive been creating for a year now and thought shorts was the new way for my particular style but havent figured out how to actually do a short and instead have been making regular vidoes. You da man.
