Can somebody explain to me (complete noob at the game) the barracks scouting in the first game? Is that a thing that can be useful in any way? Surely, having just reapers to scout must be better, right? It's not like zerg will build a wall. Why would you ever lose barracks just to scout? Edit: He actually does this repeatedly. I have no clue why.
Since he's playing mech, that barracks won't serve any purpose for him after he's gotten his extra factories down, and since even if he sent it home he'd still be left without units for longer while his factory is building the reactor, it's more important that he keeps the reapers alive because his hellions will be much later, so he can safely send his barracks in to die for some info and easily replace it some minutes later when its relevant again.
Since he's playing mech (factory/starport units almost exclusively) the barracks is completely useless after the initial reapers, its generally better to just send it in for extra info on drone counts/gas geysers taken/etc instead of bringing it back home where it can sit there doing nothing all game anyway. Sometimes even if its a bio follow up they will send that proxied barracks in, because early info on tech transitions or pushes can be incredibly valuable in terms of getting an effective response going, that info can be very subtle at the pro level including drone counts/transfers at specific bases or other unit movements, timing on tech structures going down, etc.
People have been talking about mech, but actually even when terrans stay on bio, they will still often sacrifice a proxy barracks. A barracks only costs 150 minerals, it's actually not expensive, and it's so tanky that it will give a perfect scout for a long time while also distracting queens and making your opponent a little bit uncomfortable. And of course, sending the barracks home takes a long time, so you're sacrificing a lot of production time no matter what.
Terran got major buffs, not minor ones... And THE TERRAN COUNCIL double made sure that Terran IS not underpowered, They are OP! Especially the liberators. The +56% range and faster siege/unsiege time upgrades for the liberators will be the game changer and the power moves. Not to mention Ghost basically can counter everything else + scan almost infinitely in the late game, Terran is the master race!

Anyway, Terran is the master race! The Terran council doubly made it sure the final of the SCE championship next year will be Terran vs. Terran. It will be 8 Terran, 1 Zerg, and 1 Protoss in the 10th. Utilize the new Helion blue flame and the new Liberators' mechanics (+56% range and even faster siege/unsiege time) as well as Ghost squads with no limit (EMP, Snipe, cloak,NUKE!)! Terran will dominate the highest gameplays for sure as Terran the only race that is the most versatile, can defend and attack at the same time harrassing enemies in the beginning to the end from air and land, has all the arsenals for ranged attacks, siege/unsiege while disabling enemies, cloaking (hidden) both air (banshee) and land (ghost) able to accelerate its units, can heal and transport at the same time (Medivacs), can stim and accelerate its units, can scan anywhere almost infinitely to reveal hidden units and mapping much more effectively without any units, can fly its structure when needed to relocate resources, and now can deconstruct missile turrets and build/debuild more effectively. In the hands of professional SC players like Marc, Byun, Clem, Terran will surely dominate everyone else. Heck, Serral might change to Terran for the lols.
