AAA premium costs me about $130 a year and includes 4 tows 3 up to 100 miles and 1 up to 200 miles. Thanks for going through that pain for us. At least the pizza was good! Should asked them to bring gas 😂
My Dad taught me, when there were phone books, to pick someone who was AAA approved. They might not be the best but there was a recourse for the service. For what it is worth, it took us over 16 hours to get AAA to actually show up when we threw a rock into the oil pan. Amazingly, the loss of oil was not enough to damage the engine. We had to at least get off the mountain road. Some of the struggle was that we were in a cell dead zone. Luckily we were within a mile and a half from home. And yes, we were eventually towed, but what a mess
I got got by one of these here in Canada. I was at work, and got stuck in mud out in the country with our delivery truck. Scammers had changed the phone number on the local Google Maps listing for a legit local towing company, which anybody can just do. A tow truck eventually came, but I had to wait HOURS in the cold due to these lowlifes, after everybody else on that site had gone home. My situation wasn't too bad since I had enough fuel to leave the truck running for heat, I wasn't hungry, and I don't have any serious medical conditions - but somebody else could have been in danger. The people running these scams are screwing with people in real emergencies, I have absolutely zero sympathy for them. It's beyond frustrating that they're able to get away with it.
Not really. Tow companies are providing a service that you can't do yourself, and they aren't going to charge rock-bottom prices just to be charitable. They're a business and they're charging what the market will allow. Of course, if you're referring to companies that tow your car due to unauthorized parking, that's on you.

Another towing scam is through your insurance company. My truck broke down 7 hours from home and I called my insurance for a tow to a service center the following day. Right at 4:00 AM I received SIX different (Indian) voicemails saying I needed to send a $600 deposit or the tow truck company wouldn’t come. Sure enough, at 9:00 AM the company my insurance set up arrived. Beware folks.
Interesting! I am guessing your insurance company outsources to a foreign call center, and that call center mines the data they get to try and get money from the customer. They did set up a legit visit, but hoped that you would also pay them independently.

I had this happen to me! Took my money, kept telling me the driver was 20 mins away, then told me the driver broke down. They’ll refund your money in WEEKS but will keep $70 for doing nothing in the form of non refundable fees
I had an accident once and there was a tow truck driving by and the guy stopped and offered help. He had my insurance company logo on his truck... When I called my insurance company the woman said that she can't see any tow trucks near me... She told me to give my phone to the guy, she talked to him. Then he gave me my phone back and ran away so fast... She told me he was impersonating their company but didn't work for them at all... The police arrived shortly after that. My company gave me tow truck for free and that impersonator probably would want a lot of money... I wonder how many people he scammed like that... just driving around in winter, looking for crashed cars..
I came across this. Blew a tire out on a Friday night in my big truck and found a 1-800 and I immediately knew it was a scam when I heard the voice and the immediate ask for $250
The tow part was not really a scam per say, they gave him a price, he accepted, and they did come and tow him. Yes, the price was very high, but people also buys iphones or Louis Vuitton bags at outrageous prices.
There's a similar scam with locksmiths. They pretend to be local but outsource to anyone any distance away. And they charge exorbitant fees by saying that a certain key that nobody has is $70 and that the key everyone has is $300.
I honestly never thought I'd see something that even comes close to scamming the elderly. This is pure evil and psychopathic. Charging well over double the usual cost is also vile
Then you are either blind or ignorant asf there have been scams like this to take advantage of the elderly for almost 20 years, people in Lagos Nigeria and kolkata India have been scamming elderly people for years, instead of being respectable humans they become lowlives who will never amount to anything
Foreigners scamming elderly people have been a thing for over 20 years, you’re either blind or ignorant to it all cause we have scams way before phone books.
I sure have an issue with the company that you featured that was actually paying for these two truck scams: how unprofessional that they did not have an established fleet of trucks AND did not have a secondary fleet if the first one was too busy! Clearly this company was focusing on growing it's client base prior to having the trucks set up. It sounded so bad, some representative of the company scrambling on Google to find more tow trucks-no fault of his, but the company's poor organization :)! Every customer who waited should be reimbursed fully for at least several months of service.
yes…I absolutely hate that scammers make us immediately suspicious and prejudiced against people with their accents. I imagine honest folks from their countries hate the stigma they have to deal with because of the scammers.
@PleasantGreen I'm continually amazed at the newest areas of businesses that scammers invade. 😮 The skills required to do such things would actually be considered highly desirable in many legitimate businesses. I love when you challenge some of these with an actual job offers. Those who followed through were blessed with an honest $ for their honest work. Several went on to actual profitable legitimate careers and opportunities. You have the heart and head of a teacher, plus, the talents to help reveal real possibilities and other roads these "scammers" never knew as options.
I enjoyed the video and it's nice to know that not only AI screws up the pronunciation of city names and other things. I have never heard anybody pronounce Mobile Alabama the way you have.
Just made this conversation up: "Hello, I'm looking for a toe job." "Sure, sir, what's the make and model of your vehicle?" "What does my vehicle have to do with a toe job?" "What?" "What?"
Here's a suggestion: The next time you run out of gas, order a pizza and tell them to bring you a gerry can full of gas. Then all you pay for is a pizza, the gas can, the gas, and a tip if you're feeling generous.
I totally agree that this can happen but I tried this myself here in New Jersey. My computer is connected through a VPN that's from New York City and I searched for "Towing company near me" and 100% of the results were local tow companies near where I live, not New York City. So this tells me that there could be some serious problems with how your device is set up to use your location. I also installed a browser on my phone that never logged in to a google account and used my cellular data instead of my home WiFi which is connected to the VPN. What I found is that during searches if I declined location access it still pointed me to local tow companies based on IP address. So I think for this situation to occur where you have fake tow companies show up in your search you have to really try hard to hide your location. Modern devices make it really hard for you to end up in a situation where location is unavailable.
Wow Ben, the fact that you spent $259 to show us that this was a scam is actually pretty amazing. Thank you for all you do for many people around the world watching your videos.
Ben I'm a tow truck driver in Upstate New York these people always take advantage of everybody the main company is called 24-hour group and they're based out of Texas
I hate this when trying to find any trades or services. Plumbers, roofers, locksmith, gutters, tile, handyman, cleaning, etc. All the fake paid results show up and then more non paid results. All just a middleman that is not needed. Didn't even know some of those were 100% scam and not just forcing a middleman with extra fee. Biggest tell is no local pictures but generic ones. I end up starting with NextDoor to get the names or real local companies to then start researching.
I have roadside assistance with my insurance company, the service may not always be very timely, I've waited several hours for a tow, and even left my car unattended to get an Uber home, but they've always showed up eventually and never damaged my car, I'll take that as a win over getting scammed any day.

Seeing a pleasant green upload made my day
I'm pretty sure Jebril used to live next to me in Wilmington NC and played with my son on the weekends. He had some personal issues going on and had to move. I always wondered what happened to him. He was such a well-mannered and smart young man.
Well, this is...interesting 😂. But it looks like things have gotten better for him and that's really awesome. Wishing him all the success in his endeavors.
Hello neighbor. Myrtle beach here
Google needs to start verifying addresses before just letting people put listings up
I had this happen to me! Took my money, kept telling me the driver was 20 mins away, then told me the driver broke down. They’ll refund your money in WEEKS but will keep $70 for doing nothing in the form of non refundable fees
I'm really surprised any tow truck showed up at all! Crazy
I'm surprised there wasn't a 'Kindly Towing' service
Every time I watch your videos, I think not all heroes wear capes
Guarantee they paid for that tow truck driver with a stolen credit card and pocketed the full $260..
@@DreadlyKnight you’re just blind and ignorant to it all apparently, cause scams have been around since the 60s.
This same thing with these locksmith people you did a video on…. A bunch of time wasters
That Dominoes ad is WILD.
They be hiring witches or what?
0:21 Have you have been to Alabama, that pronunciation of "Mobile" 😅
I was cringing up here in Missouri and I've not even been to Alabama 😂😅
@@AstridEverInHiding 😂 love his channel tho
European here: how do you Americans say "Mobile" in this context?
@@VolcanicAsh1586 it’s pronounced like “moe-beel”
I say it "moh-bile"
Wow, thanks for this, Ben! Are there ANY businesses out there that aren't scams? Geez.
If they have an accent from certain unnamed countries I instantly hang up the phone.
yes…I absolutely hate that scammers make us immediately suspicious and prejudiced against people with their accents. I imagine honest folks from their countries hate the stigma they have to deal with because of the scammers.
Same here, when I was a sky broadband customer they had a scammy accent but it was legit 😮 I didnt trust them the whole time 😂
I did not expect they'd actually show up!
😍That little blue truck!
As someone else stated AAA...I got them and i also got Tow Insurance from my primary insurance, so I am double covered.
Bro Who Falls For These Scams 😭🤦🏻♂️
2:39 it’s been a while since someone brought Smallville out of retirement. Love that show!
Why are humans so creative when it comes to exploiting other humans
I don’t know but watch the damn video
I wouldn’t say this was creative? Scamming ppl at that worse times isn’t creative to be honest.
Because that's how you make money.... smh
What ever you do don't use Cleet and Squirrel towing in FL. Definately scam.
i like that you went out and tested the scam, you should do this more pleasant green
Did you mean to call it Two Truck Scam?
I mean, technically there were TWO trucks in the video...
@PleasantGreen 😂
If you're in Gatlinburg Tennessee I would use Everything Auto
@PleasantGreen I'm continually amazed at the newest areas of businesses that scammers invade. 😮 The skills required to do such things would actually be considered highly desirable in many legitimate businesses.
I love when you challenge some of these with an actual job offers. Those who followed through were blessed with an honest $ for their honest work. Several went on to actual profitable legitimate careers and opportunities.
You have the heart and head of a teacher, plus, the talents to help reveal real possibilities and other roads these "scammers" never knew as options.
Huh how is bro in the past??
By now every American should be able to pick up the red flags just by the accent
i just moved away from SLC was a nice little reminder of my favorite spots when you visited the abandoned spots. used to love going to Oasis games!
I enjoyed the video and it's nice to know that not only AI screws up the pronunciation of city names and other things. I have never heard anybody pronounce Mobile Alabama the way you have.
aint no hauler back girl aint no haulwr back girl
The foreign accent, the reluctance to say what their company name is or where they are located are huge red flags.
One would think scammers would have a list of the grabbify links by now
Just made this conversation up:
"Hello, I'm looking for a toe job."
"Sure, sir, what's the make and model of your vehicle?"
"What does my vehicle have to do with a toe job?"
"What?"
"What?"
Love that you guys used a Suzuki Carry for this video.
Might as well call and have your 1983 C4 Corvette towed, it is as real as the tow truck!
Wow Ben, the fact that you spent $259 to show us that this was a scam is actually pretty amazing. Thank you for all you do for many people around the world watching your videos.
he's probably making 5000 dollars on this video alone
these youtubers are making over 100,000 a year
The simple tow job comment caught me off guard, I immediately thought of toe job, I was like what ever floats ya boat 🤣
We need to report all these scam listings
7:33 woah woah woah lmao
I hear *Indian or Nigerian* accent i Hangup immediately . It's a Scam 90% of the time.
Agree! So tired of people telling me I am racist for that, but it's just that ALL the scams I've come across have involved people with Indian accents.
99.9%
That's how they're hurting their own country - scamming for their own selfish benefit while destroying business opportunities for honest people.
Who hurt you, bro?
@@kvo3542 An Indian/Nigerian scammer
Never pay upfront for a service!
I have roadside assistance with my insurance company, the service may not always be very timely, I've waited several hours for a tow, and even left my car unattended to get an Uber home, but they've always showed up eventually and never damaged my car, I'll take that as a win over getting scammed any day.
Basically drop shipping in tow form 😂
