Food industry is a very demanding area. Sometimes there’s moments wear you have to bust your @$$ even when desperately need a break or even need use the restroom.
The reason for this is the separate line. It’s called the digital mobile line or dml (relatively repetitive) and the employee in that separate line is given specific instructions to skimp on the orders from managers
It’s funny that Chipotle said they’ll increase the size of their products due to complaints about few days ago. My head canon is that they heard that Charlie & Matt are Mythbusting their products so they had to take action.
I must be in the only one in the world that never gets fucked by Chipotle. Almost every time my burrito is a literal mess when wrapping. I don't have my phone out, I don't demand anything, just order my stuff normally. Have some friends in a similar boat. Maybe it's the how people carry themselves. Maybe if their an asshole or look like one, it's a power trip and they be like, "fuck that guy".
The biggest flaw in economics is the basic assumption that all consumers are rational. Restaurants have taken advantage of consumer apathy and the decay of buying power. Prices increase and purchase value decreases and it’s not only happening in the food industry. Fast food is no longer a commodity of cheap labor and is now an inelastic good to consumers. Buy from small business or make your own food at home!
The fact that cheap fast food ever existed the way it did is an industrial miracle. It was never something that should have become a staple food source for anybody, let alone a primary food source. The fact that I can make healthier food out of the "garbage" parts of an animal than you can get at McDonald's should really make you think.
yeah, unfortunately people will accept convenience over everything else, including pricing and portion sizes. if you can screw over the consumer in ways that don’t impact them getting their food on time, you’ll not only do it but will also likely NEVER catch significant flak over it. consumers are the problem here, and there isn’t a clear solution
I can’t fathom paying double for food in fees just for the “convenience” of delivery. That’s outright insane. And it’s not even like a once-in-a-while thing and food from a sit down restauraunt (bigger portions, more variety in one meal). It’s always the usual big fast food chains. The idea that people pay exorbitant delivery fees for something as low-tier as McDonald’s is embarrassing. You don’t need to go far to find one, and your food can start to cool off by the time you bring it home. Why would you want to extend that by 20-30mins and make it soggier? None of them get the luxury of complaining about costs. Fast food is already more expensive than making it yourself. With all these extra costs on top, you could eat so much more and save so much more. The whole “avocado toast” thing never made sense, but with Uber Eats? Absolutely. What a waste of money.
@@mrshmuga9 i’ve told people about the godawful fees and they respond like they know they’re getting ripped off. they say “yeah that’s just how delivery apps are” and i’m like “yeah, so WHY THE FUCK DO YOU KEEP ON USING THEM?!?!” i’m telling you, people will forgive all other wrongdoings if they get their product when they want it. _consumers only complain when their order is late, and it’s bullshit_
@@sujiiiiiiiii Uber Eats doesn't just add on their own delivery fee to the original cost of food that it would normally cost without the delivery service. @@sujiiiiiiiii Call it whatever you want but Uber Eats adds on additional charge to every single individual item on your order. It’s scummy to say the least.
Yeah the high fees and the food always coming late and cold is why i stopped using it. When I dont feel like cooking, I would rather make a tuna sald sandwich or quickly scramble some eggs than pay for cold late food.
I used to work at Chipotle back in 2017. I cant even recommend people go there anymore because it's been so bad. I appreciate you guys showcasing this.
I used to be a chef before covaids. I was able to retire. The last time I went out for food I had saki clams (app) and 3 meat ramen (main) with a traditional sazerac beverage and a pint of local beer. It was $78 before tip. An hour later I was hungry again. That was 6 months ago. Now I cook every meal I eat. It sucks. I really enjoyed eating out at local places.
Inflation… everyone seems to forget that the lack of energy independence and trade embargo’s with superpowers is what’s making everything more expensive.
I've had this conversation with some restaurant owners that I know here in Canada and they way they've explained these types of practices is that when restaurants partner up with companies like Uber Eats, Skip The Dishes, etc, they barely break even on those food orders because of how much Uber and Skip charges. So they increase pricing and lower portions to try and make a profit, still shitty but that's the reasoning..
Reminds me of the days when they sold Chipotle at school. Same with Tropical Smoothie/Jamba Juice. Always small, but cost way more. My first impression of chipotle was at school, so i never wanted to go.
@@PopstarKogmawbasically it’s a lose lose situation, unless you fulfill a specific niche like Raising Cane’s or In N Out to the point where there’s always a line you’ll just lose customers to competition. Chipotle doesn’t do anything specifically unique in their offerings and as such they can’t rely on people constantly coming in without delivery. Not to mention rising costs of everything even for franchise owners and it ends up a lose lose situation for them. I’ll be surprised if we don’t see a massive pendulum swing away from things like DoorDash and Uber Eats in the next few years instead going towards individual delivery from each restaurant again. They just are losing money from it and it’s causing price increases too
@@SMart_Fella1 the thing is, third party delivery is *not* profitable... for anyone. people cannot afford the cost of hiring a private chauffer for their food. So unless you expect only businesses fitting a specific niche like dominos who can afford to run their own in house delivery service, most businesses would simply not offer delivery. Otherwise, you have to deal with what is available.
When I worked at chipotle, it was a guarantee that the store manager, assistant store manager, or the leads would be the only team members to ever be assigned to mobile orders, and if they ever had you help they would force you to do things like this, they’re also incredibly variable on how down your neck they are about the in store front counter too, but the managers definitely blatantly scam your mobile orders to get better numbers for corporate.

@@Wickssss I worked on front end and I always gave people good portions, my social anxiety is already bad enough in these service jobs lol. I couldn’t stand the shifts I had to work with the higher ups who forced me to skimp people in front of their faces
Another reason why is cause the workers are lazy and don’t want to make more food and clean more dishes so the less they give you the better it is for them. So if you’re too lazy to go inside they will be too lazy to give you are larger portion lol
A lot of people say stuff like this but I do just want to offer another perspective .. I suffer from horrible chronic migraines where I can’t even drive, stand up for long periods of time, let alone prep and cook. If I do make myself something, it’s so quick and shitty that eventually all I really want is something like chipotle. So not all of us are just lazy, some people suffer from disabilities and the only thing they can afford and or look forward to sometimes is their order

The best part is that neither the delivery companies nor the restaurants will accept any responsibility for this. Complaining to the robots on the Uber support will get you maybe a few dollars back as a "go away and be happy" consolation prize. And the managers that run the place making the damn food will tell you to address it with Uber. Ive had some orders missing a few nuggets, half filled fries, and missing sauces (that they charged me for). Menu hack is to do half and half of two different meats. The giant spoon they use makes it difficult to get a half portion and they typically overdo it, so you end up getting a much bigger portion

I worked at chipotle for two years l, the reason this happens at every store is their training has dropped off entirely, and employees have no idea what the standard portion size is or how to consistently get it with the utensils they have on the line.
I remmeber a week after working there i was getting made fun of and yelled at for not perfectly scooping the portion sizes they want “you didnt watch the video” like you obviously need the practice first to even know that they just threw me on the line to serve, what are yall even on. I have always been on team Moes. Went to a chipotle the other day because my teammate on rust told me it was better. I was surprised to see no jalapeños in the toppings area. I asked if they were out and was told that they were in the back. When I asked if he could get them for me he said he “wasn’t allowed” because they are “too hot for some people”. The jalapeños are strictly to be used for making salsa. I had him put the hottest salsa on it and it turned out to be mild at best. When I sat down with my food I was stunned to see that the ONLY hot sauce option was Tabasco. With Moes offering several homemade sauces some of which are very hot (cayenne sauce) combined with the fact that the portion and taste was lacking brought me to the conclusion that Moes is superior in every was and the two cannot even be compared.

chipotle employee here, we get in trouble for giving out large (reasonable) portions. training videos show to give 4oz of meat and rice, its bs. at my store we typically over portion for online orders to avoid any refunds, because when ppl order and eat in store we can just remake their order if they're unhappy w it.

It's not really fair to take the delivery fee into account since most Chipotle stores will not include an additional delivery fee assuming you're within a reasonable distance.
As a former chipotle worker: you are told to give less for online orders. Also if you give to much either online or in person the manager will complain, even if its the right amount.

Food you order for delivery always sucks. It's better if you order to pick up yourself, and it's the best if you eat in. I don't eat fast food, though, but Chinese food, pizza, Indian, Vietnamese, I think it's mostly true. If the restaurant delivers it's better than Uber eats or whatever. Lots of take out is ghost kitchens anyway.
It's not rushing. It's a conscious decision. It's not like it takes less time to put half a spoonful of meat in the burrito compared to an entire spoonful.
@@AliceBowie "fast food" doesnt mean bad. Finding restaurants that are "fast food" but actually cook real food are fine. Kinda like your vit, indian etc. type of restaurants. I consider "fast food" things like McD. Not casual places that are "fast" but cook real food.
That's not true everytime. Even the chipotles in the least busy areas have the same results as this. Ordered online for pick up, nobody in line and only 2 orders on the shelf. Still got a small amount.

WHO ASKED + RUTTP IS BETTER THAN PENGUINZ0
@@mrshmuga9 i’ve told people about the godawful fees and they respond like they know they’re getting ripped off. they say “yeah that’s just how delivery apps are” and i’m like “yeah, so WHY THE FUCK DO YOU KEEP ON USING THEM?!?!”

@@sujiiiiiiiii Uber Eats doesn't just add on their own delivery fee to the original cost of food that it would normally cost without the delivery service. The idea is to get everybody zoned in on Fast food for the next pandemic. Many stores will be low on basic supplies.
So they increase pricing and lower portions to try and make a profit, still shitty but that's the reasoning..
unless they have a long-term contract why even bother continuing using Uber as a service then?
It's not the job of consumer to make up the difference if the brand can't find a way to make delivery profitable.
The best part is that neither the delivery companies nor the restaurants will accept any responsibility for this. Complaining to the robots on the Uber support will get you maybe a few dollars back as a "go away and be happy" consolation prize. And the managers that run the place making the damn food will tell you to address it with Uber.
