    Very helpful! Thanks. I didn't know you could do this using Preview. I can see it useful for keeping the subject of a photo in full colour but desaturating or turning B&W the background.

    On another YT vid , they show that in Ventura you can do a quicklook on an image , then hold down the mouse button and it has copy selection , it actually cuts out the background , really impressive !!!

    That's interesting. I never knew that was possible. I do these types of things in PhotoShop. But it's good to know that it's possible this way. Thank you!

    That first tip with the mostly solid background will come in handy. I’ve tried the smart lasso and just don’t have the steady touch. Another very helpful video, Gary!

    Yooo! I no longer need to use a website to do this! Thanks for showing me how to make my life easy! I convert images with white backgrounds and sometimes it gets part of the subject.

    Heya bro
    Thanks for the videos I do this most of the time for a quick fix good vid 👍🏼 ... I have a question, not to do with this above video.
    I am trying to connect my MacTower (old heavy bit of metal) with no monitor to (be seen on) my laptop ?? Do you have any videos on your channel where you explain that process, if not could you do one please. I heard somewhere 'COMMAND T' but not sure where I heard it and how it was used etc.
    thanks in advance 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽

      There's no real way to use a MacBook screen as the screen for your Mac Pro. Just get a cheap screen, even a used on, if nothing else.

    Hi Gary is their a way to make the entire background a solid color like white for example around a person or object? Thanks for the video!

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you select the subject like I show, then copy, then File, New From Clipboard, you'll get a transparent image with just the subject. But if you export to PNG and uncheck "Alpha" then you get a solid background. Or, export as a jpeg which doesn't even support an alpha/transparent channel.

    I just found a tool which just has a "remove background" feature in preview mode - it's an HEIC image. Seems to work OK. Is it possible to change the background colour?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean. If you remove the background there is no background to have a color.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you are trying to do. Just remove the background so it is a solid color? There's no easy way to do that with Preview or anything I use.

    How do you change the color from grey background to something else?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what you mean. If you remove the background, there is no background. The gray is just something shown because something has the be there, your screen can't be "transparent." If you want to take the subject of one photo and put it on a solid background, you would copy it and then paste it on another image that is a solid background.

    Why not just right click the photo in finder and select remove background? It works very well.

    How can I restore part of the image? Let's say the "Copy Subject" did not get some part of the part you need. Let's say it cut your hand. How can I restore that?

    • @macmost

      You can't. If you need to be more precise, then you'll need to move up to an image editing tool. th-cam.com/video/_qKGCF_Gwhk/w-d-xo.html

    • @macmost

      Sorry, I don't understand. When you select an area and use it to crop, it will crop to that area. What's the alternative, that it leaves a hole in the middle at that selection?
