I've always been fond of the soft as I like to call it "whispering" sound it makes. I always heard it from my window when I was a kid. That sound relaxes me, and makes me feel at home.
Nice film! When I was in high school I rode the N Judah to my summer job at UCSF, waaaaaay back in the days when the metro used the orange and white Boeing LRV cars.
Love all your videos. SF is my hometown. To add - the Muni Metro Breda trains have been in operation since the late 1990's and will be replaced by new train cars from Siemens in 2017. The 3.6 km Twin Peaks tunnel (K, L, M, S, T lines between Castro St and West Portal) was connected to the Metro's Market St subway in the early 1970's. It has one very deep station at Forest Hill. The Metro carries about 130,000 passengers a day (out of 700,000+ daily systemwide boardings) on it's 6 lines and an S Shuttle also runs, usually weekday rush hours between Embarcadero and West Portal to help relieve the rush hour crush loads. Additionally, the E line, an historic streetcar line, featured at the beginning of your video on the Embarcadero, just went into service this year connecting Fisherman's Wharf and the Caltrain station at 4th and King. It shares the tracks with the N and T Metro lines along the southern half of the Embarcadero. Keep your videos coming!
Summer, fall, winter, spring - the light in San Francisco is always unique! ❤ 2:30 I remember visiting SF in 1994 when that lovely building was just built and I saw an ad in the Chronicle hawking condos there for $99K! I bet they sell for at least ten times that now. 😔
Great video, as usual! Thanks for all your videos they’re always beautifully shot and edited. And unlike many of the other rail fan videos yours include much of the context and the riders perspective inside the cars but most importantly you don’t use any annoying background music!
Gem Diamondgirl76 well, almost never. I’ve lived here since 1971 and it’s snowed 3 or 4 times. Last time was in 2011. It gets cold, but seldom below freezing.

At 0:45 you managed to catch an E-Embarcadero with Muni's somewhat (in)famous "Nowhere in Particular" headsign displayed. Always fun to see that.

Was E Embarcadero operated in addition to F Market & Wharves or was the frequency of the F cut to introduce the E?

I love the design of the new trolleysin San Francisco. Their rollsigns remind me of New York's Transit system, while their design reminds me Boston.

Some lines of the Stadtbahn Düsseldorf use LZB (ATO) on the tunnel sections as well.
Who makes the propulsion system on the newer cars? It sounds somewhat like the WMATA's 7000-series Toshiba propulsion
