  • The outputs on your video card determine what display shows the BIOS. For my card, furthest from PCIE slot = top priority. Your mileage may vary. Hope this helps someone.

A very helpful video, thank you. There seems to be a lot of misinformation about this particular issue, of course people talking about Windows configuration and Nvidia Control Panel which both have nothing to do with this, but a lot of others are for example claiming that the priority depends on the type of the port (VGA, DVI, DP, HDMI) which turned out to be not true in my case. Your video was the one that finally solved my issue.

If I plug the main monitor far to the right it boots first, but Nvidia and windows show it as 2nd monitor, which causes me a problem with HDCP handhshakes on Netflix etc. It causes a short annoying black screen. If I leave it connected to the first slot, which causes Windows and Nvidia to show it as first screen, that black screen doesnt happen.

This is only if you think your POST/BIOS is coming up on a different display than the one you want. If you can't see your boot screen anywhere, are you booting into Windows? If so, check if you have a VR device connected or something else that might have a display.
