So close but no cigar. The Traxxas loves to over exaggerate their cars. However, when they place things on there product boxes just take it as a grain of salt and expect to do things other than stock to achieve the advertised speeds.

@mattsmith7379 I like his content too. However, his X0-1 wasn't STOCK my friend. I think 🤔 you have a different definition of Stock. And let me tell you my definition of stock and I have no more to say. Factory Stock which is a product that has NOT been tampered to deform from its original form. So, everything that came with the car stays on the car. That includes body and tires. As well as electronics. There are only a handful of people that did it and not even Traxxas did it. And that should tell you something.

I have an original XO-1, I've had it for years. I don't think I've ever had a ballooning issue with the wheels though. I could be wrong. I've never actually had mine up to 100mph, but considering where I've run it that's probably a good thing. I eventually took the high speed gear out of mine just to drive it around, thing it when geared down it accelerates hard, which can be very dicey.

Mission is to achieve 100mph without taking away or adding to the factory car. That is the challenge.
Consider trimming the rear wells out back also consider trimming out the back of the body so that the air can escape. I had a love hate relationship with mine back in the day. My pb with it was 98mph. I never revisted it cus it was a letdown everytime I ran her. I'll definitly be watching and I may even try to grab an xo1 and go on the journey with you bro.
Yea bro I mentioned that in my video. I'm going to definitely be doing some minor changes to the body but we going to get that 100+mph advertised stock. I understand stand that love hate relationship. I'm already developing it. Once done I may turn it into one of my on road race cars. Who knows it just a lot of work with Traxxas. Arrma definitely spoiled us and is the fastest RC out there.

I just got my XO-1 to go straight, changed springs and shock oil to 80wt nice and stiff. Believe it or not the ESC was never unlocked. I got it second hand for $150. Unlocked it and put a radio link receiver in it. I'm sure it will hit a hundred.

96 on a tore-up road like that easily translates into 100 in better conditions, IMO
I’ve been seeing this a lot lately, the new XRT claims 60mph+ with the included speed gearing, we hit 55mph with several full throttle passes, now granted the run location wasn’t the best and like you at max throttle the truck began to fish tail because of ballooning tires, I can definitely get it to go faster with the included optional gearing but not stock! Modifications will need to be made starting with the tires, Traxxas is on a slippery slope, borderline false advertising, that was a good attempt, 96 is not bad but it’s not what Traxxas claims so I feel you on that

That is obvious but mission is to achieve it with its factory parts. I truly believe if a manufacturer is going put a speed sticker on a box and tell you this is what you need to do to achieve the designated speed it should do that without changing anything. I know that if I change the tires and put weight as well as reenforcing the body it would achieve 100mph easy. But what's the challenge in that.

That part of the road does that to me every single time. It's just too dusty
It was rubbing on the rear because you raised the ride height in the rear which brought the chassis a tiny bit closer to the tire
The rear tires were ballooning extremely bad. Body on or off it was still affecting the driving habits.
I got a question for you. Are you balancing your rims and tires? If not you should. And get rid of those stock xo1 tires. You already know why, ballooning. There's some real good ones but I can't remember the name. Good luck. I looked at a set I have. GRP makes speed run tires that don't balloon they can't there solid rubber. GRP
Thanks for watching and sharing. You must be fairly new to my channel, and I thank you for coming through. This was done last year just before Traxxas released their version 2 after 10 years. I'm greatly aware of the problematic conditions of this vehicle. Let me say humbly. I wanted to show as a consumer who is NOT SPONSORED to not say certain things or reveal certain things. I want to be HONEST. I am am truthful of my particular experience after purchasing my 1st XO-1. This may not be your experience because everyone is not able to achieve the advertised labels speed right out the box doing what Traxxas says you need to do to get it to 100mph. Traxxas, NEVER SAID! Change the tires. They CLAIMED 100 mph. They even had a video showing they achieved it using the Traxxas app. And you and I know that the Traxxas app is DECEVING. So that's all I was sharing with my RC family and to those who are thinking of doing speed runs with this version and the next. Please look at my descriptions below in the video to follow the rest of the series. And to answer your question earlier, I do not balance tires to do 100mph. It's fairly easy to do that these days with better technology. 150mph+ definitely balancing. Again, thank you for watching, and please share.

This car says it has belted tires too. They really didn't change anything. They want you to buy there upgrades and add to that 799 sticker price. I refuse. I want to prove it's 100mph factory. It's a challenge and I want to do it factory stock. And if Traxxas tells me I need to do this extra thing to get it then they need to say 90+Mph on that box

Why can't traxxas include a pinion gear for high speed runs? Other companies do, no names mentioned 😒
They do for the XO-1 but they should have put better tires on here
The v2 has no extra pinion gear for speed runs. Traxxass says in the manual to buy a aftermarket pinion gear
Mines did the same thing and spun the rotor in the motor and bent a axle because of the tires hitting I think all xo-1 owners should get together and put in a complaint 950$ for a car you can only drive for a week

x01 pretty much like I just put weight to it and I put some Grippy tires Can I put the sport gear in Pretty much all of the Accessories that comes with. The highest I hit was 124mhp 👍🏼

How did you not get airborne
Suspension setup is key. Any car is capable of going fast. You just have to adjust the car appropriately. Lighter the car the quicker. I know some add weight but from my experience and learning from scientific studies in aerodynamics it’s all about how you setup your car so that you can maximize downforce without adding weight and keep traction. It’s trial and error. Every car needs something a little different but they are roughly in the same ball park. And you have to factor in the body you’re using so make sure the ride height and rake is accurate for the body you’re using.

Those tires are only good for one high speed pass they get deteriorated immediately after that and traxxas exec even compared it to the bugatti veyron tires how they need to be replaced after every 90mph+ run … if you want to hit the 100 mark faster than advertised switch out that mamba 2 for a mamba monster x the 6s version and get yourself some foams .. i average 117 every pass but it will never touch my arrmas’s @160mph + i tried the xlx2 2400kv combo and the xo1 would not take the power

This is a 100 MPH STOCK RUN CHALLENGE. Not changing anything until.
You know you need to balance those tires right? I use golfers lead tape and a dubro balancer, it’s not ballooning it’s horribly out of balance.
Thanks the fact that you have to do anything other than the instructions they give you speaks volume. But I will take that into consideration for future builds. No one talks about balancing wheels often. I balance and true my foam wheels but for street bashers I don't bother with them.
@@MatrixRC yeah my car would make the same noise at high speeds, I balanced my tires and I can now hold the car in one hand and bring it all the way to wide open with no vibrations and the tires don’t balloon, what you’re seeing is the whole arm flexing letting the tire rub and making you lose control.

Agreed but you didn’t say anything about all the other mfg. like Arrma etc. not a fan boy just love my rc’s.
As a fellow rc lover of all car manufacturers. Not all cars are created equal and not going to hit there advertised speed. I'm just sharing my honest experience. And if I was bias as you say then I would not be trying to achieve Traxxas claim of 100mph following there instructions. The goal is to achieve the advertised speed only using what they provided. If I was biased I wouldn't have purchase several other Traxxas vehicles I own and built or any other manufacturers you seen me run. But you are entitled to how you perceive my comments but I look at it as constructive criticism that anyone who tries to run this car you are likely to have these issues.
@@MatrixRC I don’t because your beeping bias, just talking about Traxxas. And all companies post mph on the box stock and none of them can achieve what was printed on the box.
And I beg to differ. From my experience manufacturers such as Arrma, Hobao even team corally have been better at marketing below there top speed. It's always wise to say you do a lower speed and when it's tested it exceeds it. But if one was to say they do a certain speed and when tested the buyer feels disappointed and lied to. That's why manufacturers today are under valuing there speed because they care about the customer experience. I'm not mad at Traxxas because it's a company trying to make money like all of them. However, my goal for this car is to show how and prove how to reach 100mph stock with very little changes. And so far very few experts have achieved 100mph just stock and that is what I'm trying to do. It's easy to change tires add weight to keep the front-end down to get 100mph but can you do it without it?
@@MatrixRC it has been done out the box 100% stock. Just you have not done it. Anyway I’m not going to debate you. I like what your doing in the hobby. You give off top notch content and keep it going my brother.
