    These challenges are great motivators for tackling complex projects despite their tediousness.

    As someone who really wants to get into animation/modeling... This is insanely impressive and intimidating.

      the best way to overcome that intimidation is to compartmentalize each step of the process and just tackle that stairway one step at a time.

    A day in the Bible equals a thousand years. It would take me 8 Biblical days to do this lol.

    • @marymikel9193
      @marymikel9193 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Just for clarity.
      2 Peter 3:8
      But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
      It says "As" not it "Is" a thousand years.
      Also it mentions Yah.
      This statement wasn't
      About literal time in a day.

    "Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."
    -- Frank Herbert, Dune
    A quote from the book... And BTW, amazing movie (the first one, haven't watched any other). The above kind of matches so well with this AI reality we're living... (a bunch of venture capital investors funding apps to fully replace illustrators... ).

    • @CATDHD
      @CATDHD 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You mean the David Lynch version? Yeah, it has personality in it, whereas Dennis Villeneuve's version is really teenage gloomy doomy documentary, and very sterile as opposed to extremely ambitious original, even though it also had its own drawbacks.

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CATDHD Yep, I referred to that one. I'm glad some people remember it :). A bunch of critics think it's the other way around, that indeed Lynch introduced many mistakes or deviations from the Herbert's books. Indeed, that is absolutely true. But I have since long accepted one reality with movies : A good movie can be good despite not being fully faithful to the source. True that "creative freedom" goes way beyond reasonable limits in the Lynch's version. That is, beyond the typical issues of trying to summarize tons of events in just 2 or 3 hours. But apparently that was more of Warner Bros.'s fault. David Lynch himself hates the final result with all his heart, as the contract he signed left him out of having control of the final cut. I have worked not in films, but yep in games, and several design studios. And often it is about other "powers" (CEOs, boards, marketing people, etc, etc) who really can wreck the ship, when they are not knowledgeable about the actual sources, neither want to respect the creatives' criteria. It's a recipe for disaster.
      But a film being faithful to the original books, or even historic event (well, that's worse, in my view, specially when there's a political agenda, not just to make more money) is only one of the aspects. Sometimes, only sometimes, a film can be so good in other elements, that I can "forgive" even outstanding mistakes. It's the case, here. It's the case as well with Amadeus (that to me is mostly a manifesto against mediocrity, rather than anything remotely historical). And... well, almost every film made by Hollywood from 1930 till the 70s. Actually, in 1985, we we're still coming from that (and the 80s saw a ton of inaccurate movies in relation to book sources and historical events)... no surprise with Warner Bros., then. That does not mean many of those old movies weren't master pieces. Today every critic will trash great films for any amount of inaccuracies (a few tho trying to rewrite history due to an agenda), while IMO, it's a creative piece, and there's room for interpretation. I don't necessarily need to watch a documentary, I can dig real information on my own, and just enjoy the film. LOTR movies (only watched the first ones) were not _exactly_ what I have depicted in my mind after reading literally everything Tolkien wrote (way beyond just The Hobbit and LOTR books). But in many aspects, was pretty close. I started to enjoy the films when I went ahead and disconnected as much as I could from the books, and watched the film with "new eyes". I have to say, though: that man was INDEED Gandalf. :)
      There's a reason why (besides, well, humans do behave in waves, in hordes, that's a fact, too) tons of "geeks" love the Lynch's version (besides almost anything he made is considered a cult piece), and it's maybe because, IMO, it's a good film. Despite all. And indeed, Lynch said that while he lost the creative control of the final cut, yet he loves many parts of the movie. He got just very angry of what was made out of his control. So, yep, I think you nailed it: despite the mistakes, the movie has a strong personality. I am curious about the second one; I might watch it after all. Long time hearing it's more "accurate" than the first. Again, _accurate_ does not always make a good movie, though...
      Although... I just like that quote from long, and I just wanted to link it a bit with my desperation with the situation in art with AI.
      I would probably watch again the first film, and then the second one in a row, as much of a sci fi die-hard fan that I am.
      Also...I don't think I can remember a movie which I could consider a perfect adaptation from a book. One exception, though : "Cyrano de Bergerac" , 1990, the one with Gérard Depardieu in it. Probably also thanks to an extremely masterful translation of the movie script to Spanish, producing it in palatine rhyme, if I remember well (probably the English translation is way worse). I had read the Edmond Rostand book, and I quite liked more the movie (the only time that this has happened to me). BTW, the author back in his times (1897) based the story on a real historical person, but took his own artistic licenses. We've been doing this for a while, lol.
      IMO, it's complicated to find a movie that becomes a perfect adaptation from a book. And also... some books are terrible, lol, and the movie indeed does improve them (imo it does it with Cyrano de Bergerac, but I also liked reading it).

    one particular bit I haven't been able to get to work: for some reason, no matter when I tell Blender to start a particle system, it will only start moving on the first active frame. I'm trying to make a snowfall and the only change that happens is a bunch of accumulated flakes will fall first and then the rest will come.
