Metallica: St. Anger Judas Priest: Turbo Guns N Roses: Chinese Democracy (ok, not really the past per se, but it IS the "Duke Nukem Forever" of the Hard Rock world.)
I would not say Chinese Democracy is a bad album - it had several well-produced and good tracks IMO. It just does not feel like a GnR album - more like an Axl Rose solo project instead.
I think not many will disagree that Mark Tremonti is an excellent guitarist and songwriter, and even as a singer he is quite good - he sings on key and has a nice low grit to his voice that he uses to his advantage. His material with Creed is admittedly a bit too calculated and generic for mainstream audiences, but he still came out with several nice and musical-sounding riffs here and there (Torn, Ode, Pity For A Dime, Say I, What If, Bullets). Alter Bridge and his solo career really unleashed his true self as an artist and musician.
@@Timliu92 let's not forget that Mark wrote the song "My Own Prison." Stapp took so much credit for writing the song when in fact that it was Mark. Everything Creed back in the 2000s revolved around Stapp and it wasn't until Mark and Flip left is when people started to understand the significance that Mark's song writing ability was much greater. Case in point, Stand Here With Me solo. How many solos were heard in a Creed album? 1 maybe 2??? I think it was at that point where Mark realized that he was being held back.
There are a couple songs I liked from Hoobastank; Crawling in the Dark, Out of Control, My Turn, Pieces, Running Away, This is Gonna Hurt, Remember Me, Born to Lead, and Inside of You. Their more recent album is forgettable, though.
I remember being a teenager and buying Creed's My Own Prison and Radiohead's OK Computer at the same time, and listening to My Own Prison first, because I thought it was the cooler of the two... then I listened to OK Computer AND I WAS FOREVER CHANGED!!!!!
I still like My Own Prison, but I agree. OK Computer is easily one of the best rock albums of the 90s alongside Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie, Pearl Jam's Ten, and Stone Temple Pilots' Purple, whereas My Own Prison is just pretty good.
Both still great albums. I love My Own Prison and it's in my top 10 all time, but OK Computer was a completely different beast. Saying "FOREVER CHANGED" definitely describes my feelings about that album as well. It's a masterpiece.
Always loved Creed. I feel no shame. The “sex” line is odd, but that song is one of my favorites. As for the rest, yeah, the album is not near as good as the earlier two, but I’ve attached deep personal meaning to some of the songs. I am not ashamed, Creed always meant a lot to mean.
I'm crying at the whole "SEEEHHHCKS" thing. Hell, my kids were laughing at it, too. My daughter was like, "Hey, what if they put that in Arbiter's theme," to which I replied, "You leave Arbiter's theme out of this!" If you have no idea what I'm talking about, look up the song "The Champion Of Sanghelios" by Celldweller & Atlas Plug. It is one of my favorite pieces of music ever. I know that sounds really overdone and melodramatic but I mean it when I say that.
Honestly, I really don't get the hate for Creed. They're by no means my favourite band, but I really enjoy a few of their songs like What If, My Sacrifice, Higher and Young Grow Old. Also since they were mentioned in the intro, I don't mind Limp Bizkit either. I quite enjoy Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavoured Water, although I get the hate with them.
I don't get it either. Are they the best band? No, but I like them like I like a McDonald's Quarter Pounder with cheese. It isn't the best, I know there's better, but I still enjoy it.

“Who’s Got My Back” sounds like Creed heard Alanis (Alansssseeeexxxx!!!!) Morrisette’s “Uninvited” and Scott Stapp turned to their producer and said in his best Eddie Vedder voice “I’ll have one of those please!!!”
I was in my senior year of high school when this album dropped. The guy I was dating at the time gave this album to me as a gift. I pretended that I was really excited about it, but I think I listened to it once and then it just sat on my shelf and collected dust. It's even worse than I remember.
I recently listened to this album again and noticed that in Signs, Scott does echo another word like he did with sex. There is a pairs thing happening where he says this is not about 1 thing and then this is not about some other thing where he echoes what he just sung. Lots of people personify drugs. (everyone is entitled to their own interpretation. Obviously.)
+hikkeen I actually think he was speaking of the opposite. Given his heavy Christian influence, it sounds as if he was attempting to free himself from drugs by sacrificing them and returning to the light, as it were. That smile on his face in the music video and the generally uplifting tone of the song overall keeps me from interpreting it in a negative or otherwise bittersweet light. Fascinating interpretation, however.
The Nightmare Rider Fuck yeah! Let's just be thankful they got their shit together for Death Magnetic. Probably helps they dropped Bob Rock as the producer too.

Creed songs I enjoy for each album My Own Prison: Torn Ode My Own Prison Pity for a Dime Unforgiven What’s This Life For One Human Clay: Are You Ready What If Wrong Way Weathered: Bullets Weathered Full Circle: (The whole album...😅)
I remember being in 8th grade I put the album in my old sony anti skip cd player and i went "Nope" so I put in this other album called Toxicity. after everything from then on is kinda blurry/
I am not a Creed fan (Frankly, I rather be a fan of Carl Weathers' character than the band). But I actually like My Sacrifice. It's probably the only song I like from Creed.
It's actually a really good song, when you actually know what it's about. He was struggling with his addiction issues really hard and it's all about just how much better his life was when he was sober and his inability to stay that way.
I admit I'm a Creed fan. But before anyone snarks at me about it, please read my entire comment before replying or insulting me. HOWEVER, I AGREE on how bad this particular album STANK. Human Clay was good, and My Own Prison was probably their best album to date. Honestly, the best thing about Weathered was Mark Tremonti's guitar riffs... When he used them. They did break up after this album, and only reunited ONCE to produce Full Circle... Which had maybe two tracks worth listening to in my opinion. Stapp's massive ego affected everything from the song writing to the quality of everything in general after Human Clay. I'm not defending them - it's bad when even a die hard Creed fan like myself can say how bad the quality of this album SUCKS - but I am just pointing out that there were a ton of tensions between the band members at that time, and I'm wondering if the quality of their music suffered because of that. I'm not going to break down which songs I liked and which I hated... Let's just say it sounded more like what Scott Stapp has in his solo work - which I am NOT a huge fan of for the record - and it was missing a lot of what made "My Own Prison" a great album. They got too soft in my mind. Yup, more like *Nickelback*.... Most songs on this album were cringe worthy and a few requires a puke bucket. This isn't what Creed was known for back in the day. "Higher" was an amazing, catchy song at the time of its release (the video was horrendous though). It was different, it was the pinnacle of what made Creed so successful. Weathered should have never been released, not with those cookie cutter songs on it. Creed could do better than that. "My Own Prison" is proof of it. Yeah, and I am a Creed fan. I'm just an oddball in how I can see that their stuff wasn't always great and how it went way, WAY down in quality from Human Clay. If you want quality music from Brian Marshall, Mark Tremonti and Scott "Flip" Phillips, check out Alter Bridge's debut album "One Day Remains".... Or any Alter Bridge album for that matter.
Do Simple Plan next, I'm still laughing about you crying in a cold bath listening to Nickleback's Where Do I Hide? a month later, something about your existential despair over bad music warms the gleeful cockles of my heart. Your horrified face sells the pain.
It was good mainly because Tremont s guitar playing was always good and inspirational. Yes corny lyrics but Tremonti finger picking gold and even my sacrifice alternate tuning was gold. Definitely made my guitar playing reach a new level thinking outside the box imo
The funniest part about the live clip of "Signs" isn't even how they seem to dub in the "SEX!" shout, but the sensuous wiggle Scott Stapp does while singing that line, like a cut-rate Christian rock Mick Jagger.
This video also shows that Rocked does not play an instrument. He doesn't know that these songs are far from formulaic. Especially Tremontis riffs are something quite his own and very rare. You need to learn to play an instrument Rocked before you act like Melonhead, he's annoying too btw. and he can't even play the bass.
I honestly didn't mind this band all that much. Sure, they're bit of a joke, but some of their songs are pretty decent to listen to, both ironically and unironically.
.... I'm slowly realizing i can blame the wwf for 90% of these albums. Wwe used to promote the hell out of the music they used to play for their ppvs. Or in this case they took my sacrifice and made an insane amount of videos for their wrestlers that played during the shows.
Mark Tremonti is such a kickass guitarist and he never got to showcase it until After Bridge replaced Creed. That's part of the past that is unanimously not to be regretted
I'm dying of laughter if I imagine Creed performing Signs live and Scott Stapp aiming the mic on the crowd shouting 'SEEEXXX!'.

Is this the SEEEEEEEXXXXDDDXXX that I've been searching for!?
Then Myles Kennedy replaced Scott Stapp, and changed the name to Alter Bridge and the rest is History.

I remember being in 8th grade I put the album in my old sony anti skip cd player and i went "Nope" so I put in this other album called Toxicity. after everything from then on is kinda blurry/
Wake up! Grab your brush and put on a little SEEEEXXXX!
That’s probably the best decision youve ever made
What were you expecting?
This is the album that get me into creed. Creed rules
I always come back to this one for the jokes lol and crash’s SEX yells 😂
"This album is everything we've done times 10"
10 times -1 is -10, and basically means it's even worse
The way you say it just makes me hurt, SEEEEXXXXX is a four letter word.
8:23 That was even better than the version on the album😆
EDIT: Is the crowd screaming it too?!🤣
I LOVE Creed, and I really like the "Weathered" CD. I guess to each their own. But those Creed memes cracked me up. They are so funny to me!
Jacob Martin
Maybe below the cockles. Maybe in the sub-cockle area. Maybe in the liver. Maybe in the kidneys. Maybe even in the colon. We don't know.
collegerebel ... Was that... Was that Dennis Leary?
Indeed.
It was good mainly because Tremont s guitar playing was always good and inspirational. Yes corny lyrics but Tremonti finger picking gold and even my sacrifice alternate tuning was gold. Definitely made my guitar playing reach a new level thinking outside the box imo
Creed has some pretty decent songs, even with a lot of duds thrown in there.
Listening to Creed in 2015? Oh you do suffer for us Mr RR. Hope you keep this series up :)
When i find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
SEEEEEEEEEEEX
😂😂😂😂😂
The funniest part about the live clip of "Signs" isn't even how they seem to dub in the "SEX!" shout, but the sensuous wiggle Scott Stapp does while singing that line, like a cut-rate Christian rock Mick Jagger.
Can't stop, addicted to the SEEEX!
Yep.
Ur next episode should be a Puddle of Mudd album since I know you hate them.
Say what you will about this album as a whole, Bullets is still a kickass track in my opinion.
"Hey what's your favorite NIN song?"
"Closer dude..."
Is that the one that goes "U Bring Me Closer To SEEXX !!!"
1:45
There's only one band who deserves to have a song called One get that popular.
God I love this series! Keep them coming
Mark Tremonti is such a kickass guitarist and he never got to showcase it until After Bridge replaced Creed. That's part of the past that is unanimously not to be regretted
Oh Crash, never change!!!
They did spawn “Alter Bridge” & “Tremonti” and I dug “My Own Prison” the rest, meh
