Wow, I had this as a kid, and that actually explains all the extra parts I had lying around that I had no set to use for. The extra tyres, and a couple of big 6x4 inverted slopes in gray and trans-blue.

Now this is a review I’m glad to see. This set is one of my biggest childhood memories as 5 years old boy.
At that time, the set was not odd for me, but a living dream. Newer had I got a Christmas present that large and with so much play value. One thing I clearly remembered was the front disk on the ship, it always felled off. Funny it happens for you too.

so glad to find out I wasn't the only one that had this set, during my childhood I remember building it and it took forever but now I think it's gonna take less

6929 is one of my alltime favourites from LCS. I revamped it, but it's still my first one from '81, never put apart.

    WOW!
I thought the hinge pieces on the 'gas station' were fairly news parts, introduced in the last couple of years. I hadn't seen those until recently.
    Thanks for sharing!

that looks like some kid design (young me?), kid that would brake apart old models and make something new (that not necesary make sense) to play with :D

According to my collectors guide the set is called „Delta Spacecraft“.
It was only sold until Dec 31 1983 in Denmark, Germany, France and Great Britain as a Persil Promo.

It's funny watching a lego haul video and then watching you review the things you got.

In Germany this was available as a complete set.
I actually like this one a lot and, as a child, I really never cared for it's relative strangeness even compared to other space models of the time.
To me this was an exploration vessel, searching for previously undiscovered planets and making some tests to see if they had resources or would even be habitable.
Oh, and the grill pieces were clearly ladders for easy access to the respective parts of the ship.

I call Classic Space Futuron MK 1, because it uses the same logo. I think Mars Mission is a special Operation Futuron did, and the astronaut from Series 1 of Lego Minifigures is a member of Futuron, and the galactic Girl from series 5 is a female Futuron member and the astronaut from series 15 is a member of Futuron. And the Galaxy Patro, from series 7 is a Elite Futuron solider (EFS). Also The Lego Jacket with the Futuron Logo on the top right corner is actually an old Futuron Mission Control Jacket. And the green spacemen from the Exo Suit are members of Futuron. Like if you agree.

Here is my personal review of this set from the comprehensive classic space reviews that I did last year:
Type: Ship with removable buggy and ground unit
Size: Large. 304 pieces and 2 minifigs (1 red and 1 yellow).
My History: I bought extra copies of 6929 and 6880 to get the pieces to build this set during my second Lego acquisition phase. The 6929 was missing the signal paddle and the black mod-plate with handlebars that belonged in the cargo box, so I couldn't quite finish the ground unit.
Instructions and build: There is a major mistake in the instructions. The 1x3 plates added in step 9 are initially shown to be white, but step 11 reveals that these plates are actually yellow.
Sturdiness: The design is terribly unstable. The wing frames tend to come apart at the front corners. The engine brackets fall off easily. Many other pieces fall off easily. The hinge system that holds the buggy in place doesn't hold it well. I wouldn't want to turn this puppy upside down. This is the complete opposite off its daddy (6929), which was an incredibly solid design. The ground unit with its triple cone tower and arm feels like it will fall apart if I look at it the wrong way.
Design: A hodgepodge, a dog's breakfast. In short, a dud. It looks like somebody took 6929 and 6880 and told their 9 year old to build something using all of the pieces, but the kid eventually gave up. Contrary to some reports, it does not use all of the pieces from these sets. There is a small pile of leftover pieces. I don't know what that ground unit is supposed to be, but it is the ugliest monstrosity that the Lego folks have ever released. There was a reason that I skipped this one in my first acquisition phase, and only completionists should bother with the investment.
Playability: The general idea of a large ship that can carry a double armed buggy is sound, but the execution is so bad that it isn't fun to play with. It has several weapons for wartime use. Two engine pod guns, two wing-tip guns, and the oversized front dish beam weapon could do some real damage if the rickety ship survives long enough to fire a shot. I doubt that it would.
Final Thoughts and Rating: 3/10. Enough said.

Wait, is this an alternate build for the two sets or just an obscure unnamed set that uses the parts of 2 sets? I got really confused.

It's not an alternate build, so it is the second one

Nice unintended(?) David Bowie reference at the beginning, JANG. A "Space Oddity" indeed; both the set and the artist.
