Ancient Egypt vs The Sea Peoples | Epic 25,000 Unit Cinematic Total War Battle

  • During the Bronze Age, Ancient Egypt dominated North Africa. A series of events including the invasion of the Sea Peoples caused its collapse around 1200 BC. The Hittite Empire, Babylon, the Myceneans and Minoans have already disappeared. Egypt was the last of the dominant powers still standing. Isolated from trade with the outside world, the Sea People invaded multiple times. The Pharaoh, Ramesses III was one of the last Pharaoh of the great Egyptian kingdom in the Bronze Age before the world descended into the first Dark Age. He gathered around 12,000 men to defend against the warlike and mysterious Sea Peoples. Egypt kept a record of this in their hieroglyphs. From an unknown location, the Sea Peoples came from the sea and raided and attacked everything in their path. From the description, there seem to have been multiple groups making up the Sea Peoples including the Lukka, Sherden, Weshesh, Peleset and Shekelesh. Since Egypt had time to prepare for their invasion and already repelled them before, they also hired mercenaries from their group. The Sea Peoples were formidable warriors, ruthless in their fighting. In this battle, they gathered some of the groups into a combined army of 13,000. Will Egypts survive?
    This is NOT a historical battle but is inspired by historical events.

      The sea people were like the Bronze-Age naval version of the Mongols. Destroying, killing and looting with no intention of infrastructural development. Perhaps the sea people were nomadic tribes as well.
      Both eventually stopped by the Egyptians.

    It’s not very accurate to say that “Sea people" have brought an end of a Bronze Age. We know that at that time many climate changes have occurred and the Nile, the farmland of the ancient world, place where most of world’s grain was produced, suffered crop failure. Therefore all surrounding nations bound by trade with Egypt have experienced famine. Add to that earthquakes that have destroyed various Mycenaeans and Hittites cities. In summary we have, severe climate changes, collapse of global trade in the region ( No one is willing to exchange grain for other goods, due to crop failure and famine) earthquakes, and human factor, people discontent with situation and migration of different groups of people. So we can say that "Sea people" didn’t bring the end of Bronze Age, but were the product of the collapse of Bronze Age. The best comparison of "Sea people" with another similar event are Germanic and Slavic tribes invasion during the fall of Rome in 5 century, which is also characterized for by various climatical changes.

      Also an interesting fact. According to studies on some folks that represented "sea people" Philistines ( folk of "sea people" that invaded the land of todays Isreal) genetically where identical to Greeks.

Maybe he wanted to create a buffer zone between him and Assyrians or Hittites 🤷‍♂️

    The weapons were manufactured in the Carpathian Basin! Economic activity, especially weapon-making, was very prominent in ancient Hungary, especially in the Transylvanian and Southern regions. “New tools and weapon types evolved, such as saws, anvils, helmets, and mace. Now, for the first time, metalworking was put to a large extent at the service of food production, and the freed up workforce was directed towards metal industry production." Romey
    Not only the weapons manufactured in Hungary, including the sword, which is considered a novelty, reached the Mediterranean area on the Danube, but also the armed men as mercenaries.
    PELESET (prwst): "On the Medinet Habui relief III. Ramses fights sea and land battles against the Pelesites. In fact, in the battle against the Libyans (Libyans), some fighters who can be identified as Pelesets (together with the Sardans) III. They were also drafted into Ramszesz's army." - can be read on The Greek Age of Bronze - Sea Peoples website. It is clear from the quote that it is not about a people but about warriors who can be found on both sides. Their weaponry can be a dagger/sword, a spear, or both, and a round shield held in the middle. They fight on foot, chariots and ships. In addition to the characteristic headdress, the VéRT appears on these warriors. In addition to the blood that covers the body, in the past, blood also meant a shield. The chest and back armor could be made of some kind of fabric or leather, or bronze, the shield was probably made of bronze and could also serve as an offensive weapon, with which the warriors competed, wanting to outwit the enemy: VerSET/VerSenT skillfully! And the headdress? It looks like a SAW PART, it is possible that it can also serve as such: in melee, attacking the enemy with the head. The folk name PeLeSeT can be derived from these words.“Interestingly, although the slash-and-thrust dagger/sword type variants first appeared in B.C. XV. They appeared in Central Europe in the middle of the 2nd century (Bronze C1), they are not found around the Aegean Sea until their sudden appearance in the middle of the LH (Late Hellenic) IIIB/C crisis period.
    At the top, the European-type spearhead appears in the Aegean landscape in this age. The bas-relief depicting the sea battle at Habu in Medinet is dedicated to the peoples of the sea, and the earlier, XIII. The round shield of the Kadesh battle in the 18th century was only XII. appears in the Aegean region in the century. The evidence points to their importation from Central Europe.” It follows from the Romey quote that the introduction of these weapons can be linked to the Peleset, Serden and Sikala 'peoples'. It should not be difficult to define the Pelesets as a people, there is the most information about them, and surprisingly, they can be traced all the way back to the time of Mária Theresa!

      hey Rick, nice to see you in the comment section again :). I actually watched some documentaries too. It's hard to know for sure as this is more than 3000 years into the past. Some believe the Sea People may have something to do with the Bronze Age decline. It took centuries before the Bronze Age completely collapsed. There are also mentions of natural catastrophes. Who knows. :)

      There's also documentaries and theories that base themselves upon drawings and carvings of late bronze age era depicting invasions from outside, typically from the western Mediterranean into the eastern Mediterranean bronze civilizations, which are typically thought as the sea people, again there are many factors that led to the bronze age collapse, the sea people invasions were the very last factor

    2 remarks:
    -I have been surprised by the lack of Egyptian chariotry. Mays be the battle would have been too much unbalanced?
    - More generally, in ancient times, the defeated army suffered many additional losses, and in some cases, most of it, the routing units being specially affected by pursuit. Here, as there is no pursuing cavalry…

    • @WorldHistory515
      @WorldHistory515 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To answer the chariot question and trying to be nice about it the Egyptians had none during this time because all the powers ditched chariots as during this time of collapse they where all to poor to hold these vast chariot army’s and the chariots where ineffective

    • @guillaumemulsant4106
      @guillaumemulsant4106 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my memory, the Egyptians were still prosperous and ditched their chariots a little later. Even if it is not absolute proof, the official telling of the battle mentions chariots.
      I agree chariots were much less effective than cavalry and cavalry replaced them roughly at this time or a little later.

      That theory has been put forth, in the case of the Sherden and the Shekelesh corresponding to Sardinia and Sicily. They could also have come from Anatolia and then settled in the West Mediterranean too. Indeed Rome itself would later propagate the myth that Aeneas escaped Troy and headed to Italy where they would become the ancestors of the Romans.
      The Nuragic faction in Rise of the Republic also has units called Sherden that describe the sea peoples link.

      This isn’t Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator or something, it’s Total War, there are no prison guards and security guards. These games are meant to show a specific time period in human history, and there are no mods that add modern units such as those you suggested.

    Damn, the Ancient Egyptians are really not a Caucasian race nor do they have any affiliation culturally with the Modern Arabs and Ottoman (Turks) . Please don't be in your feelings. Deodoris of Sicily wrote in his book about the ethnicity of the Ancient Egyptians. Modern Western scholarship HATES when you say that the Ancient Egyptians are from inner African people and not the Modern Arabs. They dismiss the Classical 🏛️ writers on the subject and only racist will disagree with the Classical writers information

    • @kolfibrown6540
      @kolfibrown6540 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus, the Ancient Egyptians never heard of the term Mediterranean people...... What is that?????? Can you put that on a job application..... yeah I'm Mediterranean.....the educated person would know that's not a race.....a statement like that is just a out right 🤥 and racist scholars will always use that term Mediterranean people which is synonymous for white or white ish people not African people... tell me I'm lying 🤥
