I believe it was the 38 cm sides, which would then give you the same length as the lining piece, 78cm (after taking away the 1cmx2 seam allowance) 40cm + 40cm =80cm -2cm = 78cm. I hope this helps 😁

It is the angle of the camera that makes it look like it is.
