Really hard to say MJ is the goat after watching this. I just don't get how the current generation just strolls right past this man's career on that subject.
I’m born year 2000 and Bill Russell has been one of the most intriguing and one of the most inspiring black men I’ve known. He is a hero to me. A leader, a civil rights activist, and one that I look to really learn from. Also one of the most slept on players in the game of basketball and especially winners of any sport.
He didn’t sign autographs but he WOULD shake hands. And at college basketball game in the early 80’s, I saw him, walking with baseball HOF’er Joe Morgan. I asked Russell if I could shake his hand and he agreed, so I proceeded to shake up to Russell and shook down to Morgan(who was only 5’7”). A true great moment to be a youngster.
“We won the championship my rookie year. We also won the championship my last year in the league as well as 9 championships in between, that... is etched in stone”
Such an underrated all time great that gets disrespected. Such an inspiring figure. A great role model for mental toughness and not having the victim mentality. He overcame so much.

The greatest Boston Celtic of all time. Rest in peace, Bill Russell.

He just passed away... The earth is poorer
Shame on Reddick for calling Bill’s generation a bunch of plumbers and firemen. Bill transformed their generation, both basketball and society.
Phil Jackson was asked which player he would start a team with. He didn't say Michael Jordan; he said Bill Russell.
If Jesse Owens won 100 meters in 1936 at 10.3 don’t you think athletes in other sports were also fast and athletic enough to play today
13 yrs 12 finals appearances 11 Championships no athlete has come close to that accomplishment
What a honorable man, who African-American should tell thier children about. Thank God for his example.
Just imagine the level of human you'd have to be to get that much respect in the 60s, as a black fella
I learnt so much watching this. Incredible. Such a tough guy mentally. That era for the black man was extremely difficult beyond what we know today.

Rest in peace Mr. Russell. You were a quality player, but even more so a greater quality of a man!!!
11 NBA Titles............10 as a player and one as a player coach...................you won't see that again in your lifetime!!!!!
Mr. Bill Russell was a real man. We need more men like him today.
Every black person should see this story. Especially our young people

That's what I do but that's not who I am 💯

Bill Russell was a significant image and continues to be. Rest in Paradise, Count Russell.
