Thanks! This video probably saved me at least $400. It's a pretty easy install even for someone that doesn't work on cars ever. PS. The Passenger side replacement is identical, but backwords. ^_^
We took off the inside panel as you did in this video. Then with a flashlight and mirror we inspected the inside. All clear, that's what is throwing us for a loop! No visible signs of anything wrong. We're tempted to loosen the glass, raise it all the way then tighten the screws back.
I called my local garage to ask what a window repair would cost and I almost passed out when the guy said $726 due to part being $259 and it's so "labor intensive" you're looking at at least a four hour job! I went online and found the matching part for $70 and my son and I spent an hour now my window works great!
good video thanks! my passenger window doesn't work at all after getting stuck a few times. driver side works on and off. would one regulator mess short circuit the other?
+Drews Quick Fixes Ideas And Hacks You may want to inspect the window regulator to see if it needs to be replaced. Sometimes the cable can come undone or break and cause issues like this. If that's fine, check the wire harness between the drivers side and passengers side door for a frayed or broken wire that may need to be repaired. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
thanks took it to a dealer. the electrical wire in the door connecting to the motor was frayed. you were correct. Hence when I slammed the door hard sometimes the window would go up. It would also temporarily short out all the other windows for a minute or two as a safety I guess. Then they worked again.
The 2003 PT Cruiser "Direct replacement" regulator will mount to the door however, the window motor that the replacement part comes with, requires a special mounting kit to connect to the door. From what Chrysler parts department says is that they started putting different window motors in the PT Cruisers, so they needed a special mounting kit to mount the window motor to the door. This was not mentioned in the video.
always good videos! How 'bout doing one for a window regulator replacement when the window is up when the regulator failed. Creates a new challenge that we expect you to demonstrate the fix. Good job.
Thank you for watching! If the window is stuck and you can not reach the bolts cut the cable. That will free up the window and allow you to move it as needed. 888-844-3393
Roll the window all the way up and then tighten the windows hold clamps. This will align the window with the window frame and insure that the window doesn't bind. There are holes in the door frame to do this.
+Amir Esmaili Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/1A/-/Chrysler/PTCruiser/-/-/2003?TH-cam&CTA+Comment&PU5ib08SVHA
I think I broke the door latch thing inside. I tried to take it apart and I think I bent it from the lock inside. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you
I have a situation where my window goes up and down but stops short about 2 inches from going all the way up! My Cruiser is a convertible and the window goes up and down about an inch on its own everytime you open the door to keep the glass from catching the cloth top. What could be causing this? Like I said, it works but won't go all the way up anymore!
+goldwarrior1986 Unfortunately, shop rates vary by location. Our recommendation is to ask any garage you are thinking of working with to write up an estimate for the work. That way you can compare labor rates, part prices, and have a good point to start negotiations.
Thanks for watching. The process would be a a little different for the 2007 models. We will keep that in mind for future videos. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
If the regulator is the problem you will be able to visually see if it is broken. Usually if the window does not work at all it is either the Motor or Switch. You would disconnect the connector that goes into the motor itself and put a test light to the pins. If you have power when you hit the window switch in both directions then it is the motor. If you only have power in one position but not the other then its the switch. Hope this helps! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

You may want to remove the door panel to see if there's anything inside of the door that could be preventing it from going down all of the way.

The window motor may be acting up in it causing this issue.
