Thanks guys, great video.. I would like to see more videos on how to do a fpv setup.. What kind of problems you run into and how to solve those.. I find you guys really take the time to properly explain things.
Start with not buying a Yi action sport camera 1080p 16 meg still pics... For $80.... Slammed mine into the ground from about 50 feet and it didn't even turn off... Great camera. I am building a pan/tilt rig for it today, great video.
I actually made a tilt-only version for my quad. The thing works amazingly well aside from vibration due to some dodgy mounting on my part. Excellent build video.
Guys ....love the videos but can you please give some thought to safety Dremel's are probably the best power tool for RC stuff but ( and this goes for any grinding tool) always grind/cut so the sparks go away from you & never use a cutting disk for anything other than cutting. Using the side face of a cutting disk is "asking" for it to explode & use safety glasses. They only cost a couple of dollars and your eyesight is priceless !! Keep making the vids Cheers Phil
Many years ago during the car stereo craze, a friend took the motors out of a wrecked cars side mirrors and used them to control some surface mount speakers. This way he could move the speakers around to get the sound he wanted in a competition. I bet you could do the same with the cameras and it will be a lot smoother plus you can probably get them for free.
Great job. I understand the cost factor. That's why I make my gimbals to hang from kites with FPV setups. If you care to see one of them, I have a couple demonstration videos here on youtube showing one of them. Mine are much larger since weight isn't much of a factor hanging it from a 19 foot delta kite. You guys are a lot like me and I sure enjoy your videos. I'm planning on entering the rc FPV hobby and your videos are a real help. Thanks for posting.
just a quick suggestion for STOPS strip the cover off a 5 amp connector block ,and saw the brass connector in two..then you have 2 tiny rod stops (undercarriages, gimbels, ect.)
use metal gear servos for tilt. I stripped out some plastic servos making tilts. Any hard landing will break them as the gopro wants to jerk down and the servo tries in vain to stop if from doing so.
Hey guys I convinced the wife to bbuy me a DJI Phantom for christmas. I was wondering I didnt know anything about a "board camera". Could you film how to make, program a build but with a board camera. Love the TH-cam Channel. Youguys keep up the great work.
Do a search for Piano Wire. But you can get it off line at any hobby store, or I have seen it in DIY stores. If we new where you lived we could help more...
Really awesome show guys :) just a quick question, How would I use a switch on my transmitter to switch between two servos/motors? So for example, flick a switch and the throttle no longer controls the propellor, it controls a motorized wheel?
just an idea... Wouldn't it be much lighter, in terms of construction weight and servo demand if you make the servos control a small mirror above the lens of the gopro?
hi flite test. I want to ask about about micro HDMI to AV (FPV) can i connect micro HMDMI to Ts832 using HMDI2AV mini? without using RCD3015G thanks for the time flite test: D .. i love this channel
the one thing that I highly encourage you to do before u fly is to put the servo screws on .... or your $ 300 GoPro might end up in one of the HEATERS..... ;)
I have a problem with quard i can`t get off the grown i`m using 4 1000 motors and 8.5 props, please tell me what i`m doing wrong. this is my frist build thanks
CHAD: "Cause hot glue makes things fly better, right David?" DAVID W: "It does..." DAVID W (whispering): "It's awesome" Check earlier episodes and you'll understand why it's funny.
I don't know anything about RC. Could you lead me in the right direction on what you are connecting the servos to, to make the transmitter (Controller) make the servos work. Thanks
is there any way to control the servos without using another controller? is there a (cheap, obviously) way for me to use some sort of small 1 ch transmitter to control a single tilt servo with a potentiometer or something?
I clicked in the "like" button before watching the video, because this is something i really need! Thank you for sharing!
love the sweed please make him come back! even in an episode like this just his presence adds that extra something.
+Adam J "Swede". as in, Sweden, not "Sweeden".
I just shared a way to make a cheep gimbal using only Velcro and rubber bands with existing servo arms, Thanks for sharing FliteTest. -Scott.
Thanks guys, great video..

flite test is the best channel. I love that you guys are all about the DIY. I'm going to try this out once I find some free time 😎
David needs to join in more!

This is absolutely fantastic, thanks for putting so much detail in on every step, I can't wait to try doing this myself!
everything with David in it is cool, he's my favourite flying enginerd
Another great show , just love watching Flitetest . from NZ

More videos with David! We were waiting for his retrieval!
awesome video. It's really useful even for the people who doesn't fly FPV
great device. FT the good ole days!

Wooo! metric FTW! good to see more US peeps using the metric system finally!

A zeep tie?! You guys are awesome! Keep up the good work.

Yes, with a little mods this will be my gimbal. Lay down the pan servo to get it to rotate clock wise .Then connect servos to kk2 board.
Love the Shawshank reference.
You could also lower the speed of the servo on the radio, the movement is going to be much better and soft :)
Ingenuity! Is the Mother of all inventions !!😎
Very good episode.
Definitely one of my top 10th.
Lucio - From Brazil.
Awesome guys, great video! I wish I lived in your neighborhood!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I'm in the UK and i use imperial and metric. Inches are great for large measurements but millimeters/thou for small machine work.
Awesome! Gonna try building one for my MOTCamera Jib. Thanks for sharing. ☺
This may be a great design for diy PTZ outputs on many multirotor flight controllers!
You guys are genius!!!

Thank you so much for that...I am going to build one this weekend!!!
thanks for the entertaining professional videos i really enjoy them
I built one for Möbius works flawlessly
You NEED to make a twin motor scratch build!
these guys are top notch
the glue also melts the tape really well
David has made Sweden officially awesome in the same way "Gangnam Style" made South Korea officially awesome.
ZEEEP tie. Hell yeah!
You guys rock!! thank you for all the awesome project info.. much appreciated.
Do a search for Piano Wire. But you can get it off line at any hobby store, or I have seen it in DIY stores. If we new where you lived we could help more...
Now time for me to Build one!
Watch out guys Chad has Wood...HA!
David...David...David...David.......bring on David!
This is what I was needing!!! COuld u write down all the sizes of the pices of wood pls??
to SPACE?! I LIKE this idea
Nice tutorial. Good job!
nice bit of engineering, I'm thinking it would be ideal for camera stabilisation for my hexcopter
I made this and it worked really well! I just need the fat sharks now.
Oh wow this is great thanks chad
Thanks for the videos these are awesome.
you guys are awesome!!
I would love to meet you one day
crazy pilot,me too

Awesome build guys. I will definitely use this :-)
Hey guys, just wondering if you think this could be used in conjunction with the KK2.1.6 camera stab feature as a uber cheap gimbal of sorts.
just an idea...
Wouldn't it be much lighter, in terms of construction weight and servo demand
if you make the servos control a small mirror above the lens of the gopro?
so helpful, thankyou for saving me 40 bucks
Clever stuff, thnx team! :)
Thank you guys great job!
Hey guys, the link to the website is wrong. The forward slash in the link should be an underscore. Nice video. You should do more DIY.
I'm tapped out! I bought a 400.00 dollar fatshark goggles! This is way cool though im gonna make this!
Obtuse? Nice Shawshank reference! lol
Great vid guys

DAVID !!! YAY !!!
What was the name of the device that is used to create the Z bend in the wire? that was AWESOME !
I'm all tapped out from this and can't afford an airplane to mount it on..
i just use my rc car :)
Go buy a bird in a store and mount it on its head. Make sure the servo's are well on tough
Need a video on the electronic portion of this build
excelent video i made this and was beautiful
keep up the good work.
well done
or you use your 3D-Printer and press "print".
You guys sld make a VTOL plane,it's a good challenge!
Can you feel the stiffness?
Yeah, it feels really good
- 08:10
great vid =D
U guys should post a video on how to make a gimbal with a gyro stabilizer
WOW! finally americans using metric.. great video guys.
Do you have to change something on the flightmodes settings if you have tilted motors??
Better shows than Nasa puts on the net as far as learning goes. LOL!
the one thing that I highly encourage you to do before u fly is to put the servo screws on ....
or your $ 300 GoPro might end up in one of the HEATERS..... ;)
PERFECT INTRO LENGHT!
Does FPV have to cost hundreds of pounds (or dollars) to get started with. Is there any information on getting started on a shoestring budget?
i live in indianola mississippi thanks for responding so fast
have you made a 2 or 3 axis gimbal for the gopro?
can you do a show on motors and esc to show what types or levels go together
If you have all the material and equipment. If not it will cost 10 times the price of a P/T on ebay. Definitely more satisfaction building one.
This would vibrate all to hell on a quadcopter.
if its not a silly question, how do you get the live video feed out of the go pro and back to the ground??
You need to do a review on the stearman pt-17 from banana hobby
Now you have to make an episode with explosions, obviously.
How do you set it up for auto level with just using the apm 3.1 flight controler
Can you use servo tilt and sonar together in cppm wired mode on a naze32
I have a problem with quard i can`t get off the grown i`m using 4 1000 motors and 8.5 props, please tell me what i`m doing wrong. this is my frist build thanks
Your 5/16" (.312") piece of wood is about 5/8" (.625) square.
CHAD: "Cause hot glue makes things fly better, right David?"

A receiver that is bound to the transmitter.
Thank You
can you build some tilt arms on a quad please
This guy reminds me of Jesse Eisenbergs role in Superbad.
is there any way to control the servos without using another controller? is there a (cheap, obviously) way for me to use some sort of small 1 ch transmitter to control a single tilt servo with a potentiometer or something?
Arduino
+TheEnragedGamer I hadn't thought of that... But it seems like a good idea. Thanks!
uRiBiTo666 yourwelcome
how do i get it to pan and tilt with the movement of my head with goggles? do i need a different RX? any info helps
can you share a link to that board camera please?
It's David!
Oooops! It's correct in the notes and the diagram.
How would one make it waterproof say for weather viewing?
