I just did an externship at an office that only did manual blood pressure. Some do and some don’t but as a medical assistant you should be able to do either or. I’m still learning and practicing and these tips definitely help.
Thank you for sharing! People need to be prepared for this. I can't telll you how many times someone has said to me, "Won't we have the machines though??" I'm always reminding them that you still need to know how to check manual bp as an MA.
My workplace actually trained us during onboarding, and the manager has mentioned that we may need to use manual BP as the machines keep on giving issues: inaccurate numbers (very elevated), malfunction, other... the cuffs are often the main issue (connection, inflating issues...).
Yes I just started at a new clinic last month and we do manual. It was different for me but I've gotten used to it by doing it everyday.
The pediatrician I work for prefers us to only do manual BPs.

Facts as a CNA I had manual BP as 1 of my skills for my skills test.. it’s important to know how to do manual vital signs..
Ms. K., thank you. You are a great teacher, leader, and supporter. On point, as always.
Thank you so much 🤗
Yes my teacher said that too.
Manual bp is more accurate in my opinion!!
