    I'm Moroccan and my dad had one of these back in the early 00', it was so relaxing to travel in and it did not break easy, unfortunately he had to sell it because parts were rare and quite expensive

      Same here, my parents owned one in the late 90's, early 00's in the Netherlands. Wonderful car, very stately and comfortable!

    I had one of these back in the early 90s, it was a standard version, but we found a wrecked Monaco in a scrap yard, which we ripped everything out of including the stereo with stock controls, leather seats and alloy wheels. I loved it, great for long distance comfort, Scotland , no problem , twice to Switzerland and many time to the Netherlands.

    Renault 25, Second best luxury car I've ever driven and owned. It's everything it says it is and then some. If your lucky enough to have spares from another 25 your sorted. I mostly drove on long distance runs. When I say long this means there and back 400 klm, in Ireland this is long distance. . If there wasn't a Merc or the 5 Series Beamer available the Renault 25 was always my second Choice, sometimes first. Smashing car the 25, the safety luxury and speed matched the 5 series and the MERC. I don't think they build them any longer the 25. Shame if they don't. Dirt cheep I'd spend more going out the weekend than I would on a good second hand 25. I was lucky I worked in the car game back in the day with my brother's , the honest part. 👊☘️

    My Uncle has one of these as a company car back the 80s, when I was a kid. & one thing I can remember is how comfortable the ride was . It was like driving on air, it was so smooth, and a real wolf in Sheep’s clothing, with the power!

    I had a 25 Monaco in 1994. Mine was a 87 E reg, brought it salvage, and put the V6 front end on it. Being a big barge of a car insurance was cheap for a 18 year old. One thing that still sticks in my mind is trying to sit in that interior after the car has been parked out in the sun all day, We’d have to leave the doors open for at least 15 minutes before you dared get in!!! Loved the car though, hence why talking about it now 26 years later!!!

    Bloody great video. I owned the German version of Monaco, called Exclusiv for a few years. They were tge same, except for the trim name plate (and of course, LHD). Sold it because of rust, but I still long for this car. I sincerely hope I'll own another R25 some time soon. Good job mate, I hope it serves you just like mine did.

    I had one of these back in 2000, lovely car, would have it back in an instant, had loads of compartments & a tray that pulled out from the glovebox, perfect for the front passenger to skin up while on the move

    I used to have V6, Baccara and 2x V6 Turbo. Excellent underrated cars. My dream is to buy decent Baccara Turbo.

    I bought a 25 gtx in silver lovely comfortable car, had 3 years with it completely trouble free.The low petrol synthesize warning had my young sons in fits of laughter, had three renaults since had honestly theyve all been excellent.

    I had my Renault 25 Monaco from 2001 till 2006, and I really loved the car. My first car. The steering wheel was really something else, you can easily corner the car with one finger on the steering wheel. Really shame it broke down beyond repair.

    Great blast from the past. I’ve got 2x 2.0L Fiat Croma Super IE and I know what you mean about hoarding parts. My garage is full of them as there’s only 8 left in the UK and I’ll never know when I’ll need something!

    I have a renault 25 too. It is baccara version. '92 V6 Turbo. I think it is one of the most stylish cars for that period. But it is so difficult to find spare parts in Turkey.

    Fond memories of driving my parents 25 Monaco. Completely the wrong car for an 18 yr old, but loved the perceived luxury. Glad the 2ltr wasn’t that fast as I would have binned it for sure!

    I still have the original workshop manuals for thsi and the V^ they cover everything up to accident repair. I owned one stereo worked well, sunroof would jam it was the sound proofing stopping from opening fully, mine had the pepper pot wheels alloy they looked smart, it was an auto and went very well indeed, apart from some silly electrical things it was a great car we brought it when the 9/11 thing happened, I was so excited what a pleasant car to drive it was smooth as any Citroen hydraulic car I had driven.

    I had a 2nd hand GTX in the early 90s. so no leather seats, but the stereo worked perfectly.
    this car was ahead of its time in many ways. was also the first - or one of the very first - car that had a speaking bord computer. this thit not really make it during time, but in its own time, sure was progressive.
    besides that, it drove very very comfortably and easily. had then often to do Switzerland to northern germany and back every week, some 800 km per trip. and yes, as i used to say, after travelling for 9 hours or so, you get out of the car more relaxed than you got in at the begin....

    my family had an 87 Renault 21... my sister worked for Renault and we had it from new until it was cubed 17 years later.... dodgy gearbox aside, very reliable, but OMG I didn't realise how different the 25's interior was... unrecognisable.

    Great car. My Dad had a few 21's and I always liked the 25 more whenever I saw them especially with that interior that looked like it was out of a 70s Lambo - even if the seats do look a bit like He-Man's abs :D

    Lovely car, Renault never made a good successor to the R25. They lost their market share I that segment. Cars like the R25 Baccara/Monaco/Exclusive were a good alternatieve to the German competition.

    I had the 2.2 GTX I think it was in the mid 90’s, it was my daily driver for work so I could keep my Trans Am for fun weekends. The Renault was like driving to work in my armchair lol

    So. AMC and Renault used the 25’s design to create what became the Eagle Premiere. Chrysler sold another variation called the Dodge Monaco.

    They really were good motors those. As a freelance photographer I needed speed, comfort, reliability and to be able to get there still fresh. And I needed to be able to pack in wife kids and dog. It handled the specification easily. Electrics were the weak point.

    surely the 2.0 is the choice of those whose primary interest is driving something comfortable, stylish and eye-catching on a sensible budget. Hope Practical Classics Ren 25 DERV (Staff Car about 5 years ago) survives

    Even the standard version of this car allows you to enjoy Sofia Boutella in the back seat. But if you are Charlize Theron, then you need the "Limousine" version. It will make your wildest fantasies come true.😉

    In france, absolutely all models with that 2.2l injection engine have an electronic fuel indicator on the cluster.

    I have mixed feelings concerning my inherited 1988 R25 back in the day (mid-nineties): (+) something a bit different back then, talking “computer”, great V6 engine (the earlier 2.7 unit), modern ICE system in its day (-) unreliable electrics, auto box governor failure (twice), strange peddle angle, very low seat belt access on b-pillar (both proving uncomfortable for taller drivers)

    I'm sorry, the only executive cars in the eighties were Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar. Audi and Volvo were about to become - but Renault, Peugeot, Citroën... No, if you use the term executive car from its origin, not just the size

    I used to work in the garage trade and always dreaded seeing a Renault 25! They were a pain in the arse! Nearly as bad as a Peugeot 605 and they were crap!

      A pal of mine had an R25 from new round about 1985 and it seemed to spend more time at Renault Birmingham being fixed than it ever did on the road. I think it only lasted with him for about a year before he got fed up with the unreliability. Then, bizarrely he bought a Renault Feugo...
