I'm curious about these DMX USB interfaces. The cheapest 1-port options I'm finding are all "output", with female 5-pin connectors. If I want to control my QS computer with a console, I need to "input" DMX to the computer, as confirmed by this tutorial selecting the DMX signal as an input in the settings. Does the hardware matter, though? Doesn't DMX signal go all directions? Can I set an ENTTEC DMX interface with only an "output" physical port as an "input" in the software, or does being a USB interface limit its directionality somehow? I imagine a turnaround wouldn't make much difference, but I'll go ahead and throw that variable in here just in case lol
Yes you can. This all depends in how you configure QuickShow. In the menu bar, right click on "multi cue" and select the amount of concurrent cues you want to play. Note that you do put more load on the scanners so make sure you do not overload them.
so let's say that i setup up a knob to control the "Position X" , but i have a timeline with multiple cues at once, can i setup the knob to only control a single track of my timeline?
Position X is something you can adjust when playing a live show. If you run something from the timeline, you will need to adjust the specific cue you want to modify. Live control does not modify the timeline.
why? have you purposefully omitted support for art-net & midi in QuickShow? Because Beyond is a piece of software which doesn't affect the capabilities of the hardware we have connected.
QuickShow does not allow you to assign the cue grid. Only The APC Mini and APC mini MK2 are able to use the cue grid in QuickShow. Upgrading to BEYOND allows you full mappability.

Yes, QuickShow only works with Enttec pro usb dmx.
can I use regular dmx lights with this?
Yes, but timline based. Its not a full DMX system as a console would offer.
Also can i project multiple cues at the same time using midi?

Dmx input only work with a Enttec DMX usb "Pro" / or the non Pro one work too ?
It must be a Enttec Pro USB.

No, these are fixed inside the software
does it work with artnet
You need BEYOND for Art-net
