Nice video. Just got the Terra pot, and it has significantly faster boil time. A suggestion on priming, I've owned my Svea since 1973. There's a faster way to prime it, especially in cold weather. Instead of just filling the primer well on top of the tank, dribble fuel into the burner cup, let it run down the generator tube into the primer well. I use an eyedropper, and it takes two dropper fulls to fill the primer well this way. When you ignite the fuel it rapidly heats the generator tube, and causes the fuel inside to vaporize more quickly. I wait until the flames just start to die down, turn the valve on and immediately get a blue flame. Ready for cooking. Also - when your finished with the stove, Turn the burner off. Wait about 15 seconds, and turn the burner back on about 1 full turn, then immediately turn it off. This will help keep the jet clean. I very rarely need to use my jet cleaning tool with this method. Still have my 40+ year old jet tool as a matter of fact!
I have a similar burner made in czechoslovakia called the Meva type 2140 And for priming I have made a modification. First I prefer to use denatured alcohol because it does not leave black soot on the burner. Secondo I have always find out a bit tricky not to spill some duel all over when putting back the windscreen so I did what Colorado Camper ( Check out his awesome Channel) suggest , add a piece a piece of carbon felt arround the base of the generator. Can tell you no more messy spill of fuel and fast priming. Check on my Channel I have put a video on that mod, simple but really worth it. Those roarer burners are bomb proof And I love their sound😀👍👊✌️
Your pre-heating procedure isnt right. The valve needs to be closed after initial lighting until the priming fuel is almost burnt, to allow operating pressure to build in the tank.
I saw the Stanley in the description and I had to take a gander at the video! The Stanley will boil a bit faster if the heat is collected around the pot...but that is just a limitation in the design of the Stanley because of the tall slender structure...like a tin can but the darn thing is so useful in a lot of situations. that's why it is my pot of choice...lol.
Hello Nathan , Very good video and very good test for boiling water. I love your spirit stove . Terra Weekend HE is faster to heat than the Stanley ! Thank you for this interressante demonstration. Thank you for sharing Nathan . See you soon my friend .... Didier
Instead of an eye dropper, use a small piece of paper towel rolled up, about 2 inches. Dip that into the white gas and let it soak up the gas. Put the cap on.Then wrap it around the base of the generator. Try to keep it open at the cap so you don't fry the cap's washer. Then you won't have gas running down the sides. In the winter you may have to do it twice, so use gas from your refill tank. Also in the winter you may have to shield the stove from the cold ground to keep pressure.
you dont all that priming mess. just heat up the tank with a lighter. once it hot open the valve. small amount of fuel will pop out. and you can go. very clean.
That is a very nice looking stove I have a small one that takes the small propane gas tanks love it for hot beverage and soups in the woods. We also use them for hot tea when traveling stop side the road much cheaper than 2.00 per cup
cabotbluegill My wife says that the coffee tastes better when I brew it using this stove. Thank you for your comment and for taking the time to watch. See you soon my friend.
It worked great, that heat exchanger cut it off at a rolling boil one minute sooner! That means less time to get your coffee brewed or whatever you want!
If you are boiling 2 cups of water which I assume then 5 minutes plus is a very long time for the Optimus Weekender to come to a boil. I use the regular optimus gas stove and can do the same thing in a little over 2 minutes with a lot less hassle.
I really like this stove because you can control the burner more and cooking heat level just like a regular stove, more so then you can a canister type stove. What did you think of it?
Nice just found U & your channel I need to find were U got that stove love the sound Just subbed U. I saw the huge fire rod on the Armed Rouges Channel.
TheKilog69 Thank you for the sub. I got you back. Campsaver.com has the best price. Or you can search optimus SVEA on eBay. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
Jeb & Joe Outdoors Hi Joe, I borrowed the stainless steel strainer from my wife's cast iron tea kettle. She bought it from, Teavana. Thank you very much for stopping by.
Ahoj, tvoje vystoupení působí velice trapně.Dřív než jsi přistoupil k veřejnému videu, tak jsi to měl nanečisto vyzkoušet doma a nevypadá dobře,když chceš použít křesadlo FIRE STEEL a viditelně se těch jisker bojíš.Špatně předehříváš vařič a trvá moc dlouho než má správný plamen hořáku.Nevím z jakého důvodu odebírá tvoje video 4,3 tis. zájemců Ode mne je palec dolů😝

Thank you for the information. I will follow your advise.
Yep .. use the RFM function beforehand .. works every time.
The flame control key should be removed from the stove whilst in operation, it will be too hot to touch after a couple of minutes.
Thank you for the advice.
I'm sure the key lit you up when you touched it. Yeeow!

Raindance Bushcraft Thank you for spending some of your time watching. It's a nice kit.
I would like to see you use a pot with a wider base most of the useable heat traveled around the outside of the Stanley pot !
That's a cool stove and a good test. Terra really did good. The stove remained me of a old steam engine . Thanks for sharing
coyote238 Yes, I like the sound. In the beginning is was not fully primed. Thank you for watching, see you soon.

Thank you. I will try it next time.
I have two of these from 40+ years ago. No, I won't sell! Keep the valve closed until the stove is pre-heated. This keeps down fire hazard also.
Thank you for the advice.

I just bought one from them. I think it's Chinese, but if they were still made in Sweden them would be much higher. Hope I get a good one.
I'm thinking of getting a vintage one from Sweden. I see them on ebay.
I just bought one on ebay. Paid too much, but it had the original box. Mission the jet cleaning tool, but what the heck.
Cool. I'm watching two on auction.
