I don’t care what news channel it is. A subscription service is completely off limits. Especially since I check multiple channels to see how things are reported because we all know each station presents the “facts” differently. 😂
I would pay to NOT get CNN subscriptions... CNN has to raise the bar on their internal processes and procedures to bring news content worthy of paying for before they can think about pushing a paid service.
I have the 2-turner Tablo, I may get the 4-turner device at some point. I'm absolutely happy with Tablo. My family doesn't record more than two shows at the same time currently.
I have had the Tablo the Gen 4 tuner DVR for 2 weeks now and aside from some quirks in the new software interface, a few weird biggie issues with it closing the app during navigation and the extra steps this new interface forces you to use it is a pretty decent product, however they removed the ability to watch shows anywhere from your recordings which I used pretty frequently but I guess if you don't leave your wifi network you're good .
Nope! Even though I am a news junkie, I don’t and won’t pay for news. Often times I see a link for a news article that interests me and find it is actually behind a paywall. Oh well, I’ll find the topic elsewhere.
Email is one of the biggest security risks people have. If your email allows for multiple aliases, use one alias for the sign-in credential only and make other ones for other websites you use. Don't share this main alias with anyone. Only share your secondary aliases. Check your account sign-in activity, how many devices have accessed your account, and of course use 2-factor authentication. Consider also doing a forced logout on all devices that's using your account after changing sign-in credentials. I'm telling y'all this as someone that got their email hacked.
How much will CNN pay me to let them stream to my phone and television❓️ I would need them to pay me in the tens of thousands of dollars per month to make it worth my while. Maybe more if I have to monitor it.
I love it. We have passwords to protect the same information that these companies are selling. I'm starting to think that "hanked" means we sold your account to a hacker.
The big points of OTA TV is: not having to be online, & not having to deal with DRM. ATSC 3.0 requires being online. If I have to be online, might as well just be online, which defeats the purpose of OTA.
I agree, and it's not just CNN, but 95% of the MSM news. I hope all of it crashes as burns as older generations pass on, and those of us who are younger see it for what it is, and that's pure trash not worth watching!! I can get my news plenty of other places without the bias, fluff, BS, etc...
I HATE interactive TV. By the time I sit down to watch TV, I want to put a show or movie on and relax. I don't want to answer surveys, or pick which ad I want to see like HULU likes to have, I don't want suggestions as to what to watch. I know what I want to watch and want to do so in peace !!!! A BIG NO to CNN !!!!! Thank You Luke. I hope you feel better soon. 🥰
I just turned on Zero authentication for my Roku box. I threw it in the dumpster, in the bag of used cat box waste. Roku wasn't my first streaming box. Oh no. I had to be different and got a WDTV Live first. Yeah it still stings. I keep that box to remind me of my bad ideas. Roku was my second streamer and third. Loved it. And today it's covered in poop. Seems about right.
I'm fine with CNN doing this and I'm sure there are those that will welcome it. Like you, I'm not sure how viable it will be in the long run for them. However, I'd love for major services to also adapt this approach. It would allow me to ditch a few multi-channel apps where I only care about one or two channels.
Of course CNN is doing well on MAX because it's FREE! with any plan. Why the heck is it that amc+ is the only streaming service that's figured it out. Not only does it have it's on demand catalog but it also offers it's linear channels without any kind of add on fee like some of these services are doing.
Anyone who watches and takes seriously any mainstream/controlled "news" source (regardless of what "side" it's on - includes CNN, NBC, Fox et al) is a fool.
The AI-generated media experience only reminds me of one thing. There is a movie called Idiocracy (2006) where one of the main characters is sitting alone in his apartment and not wanted to be disturbed while “bating” Anyway…this movie is just how I see the future of the USA nowadays.
So CNN launches CNN+, fails so bad it closes literally within a few weeks. CNN looks at failing cable numbers and thinks, we did so great with the first streaming attempt, let's go all in this time! And nothing of value was lost 🤣
Luke, NO I would not pay for any news service. And the Roku issue.. I believe it was them that was hacked. I did not and still do not use the same password anywhere.. I got an email saying my info was compromised and what was compromised. My name, email, password, last 4 of my credit card number my and Roku settings. Roku requires you to use an email as the user name to login. So do a lot of other companies. A person would need 50 email addresses to use a different one everywhere. The password was not reused anywhere.
No. I'm keeping my Roku bricked. I never bought anything through Roku and it looks like I'll be pulling that Roku out of my TV for good with the stuff they keep trying to force us into.
Roku better not make me enter a password using the remote's⬆⬇⬅➡ buttons. I should be able to login on my computer and type the code from the Roku screen in, or show a QR code.
There is no situation that could exist where I would pay for any of the major news outlets. The last thing any of them deserve for their biased bullsh¡t is my money.
He really did not retire, as Larry was given a show on the RT(Russia Today)US channel where he did not have to produce as much content giving him a more relaxed schedule, but I agree right around the time Larry King left CNN was on rocky ground then, and then it went right off a cliff with their left wing bias, TDS pushing, calling a city burning down a mostly peaceful protest, 'Follow the science BS", etc.... if CNN, and the rest of the MSM news die tomorrow I won't be sad, as it badly needs a reset back to an era of Joe Friday saying "Just the facts ma'am".
I'm not a news junkie. There are too many free options for news. I watch Scripps in the morning, then I watch European & Canadian news. I liked CNN documentaries back in the days I had cable. But wouldn't pay for it.
Amen to that one, and anyone left still watching that crap not sitting in an airport, or doctor's waiting room, and taking it seriously is a brainwashed zombie I don't want to be around!!
@@CommodoreFan64 I thought the same thing about the airports and waiting rooms. I haven't been on a plane since 2018, so wasn't sure if the airports were even subscribers any more! My doctor's office has HGTV on it, so pretty low key and non-controversial.

I pay for Sling almost exclusively for CNN. I wish there was a lower-cost option for CNN. I do have MAX and will likely turn off Sling soon. Would I subscribe to an uncompromised version of CNN for less money? Yes. Would I pay for a phone… vertical version of CNN? Not in a million years.

I am so done with Roku. They really turned into a annoying lack luster company. No bluetooth. No browsers. No adult apps. My android phones don't cast to them anymore. The news of commercials embedded in hdmi. This data breach and security thing. I think it is safe to say I won't be buying any roku devices ever again. Getting my new TCL android TV was a breath of fresh air. It was like going from a closed locked down system to a totally opened and modular one. RIP ROKU. Good riddance.
