    I have Invisalign. Do you use elastics with your Invisalign patients?
    If so, can you explain how yours works? Do you have hooks on your Invisalign?
    I have had Invisalign for 13 months now with no elastics, but I just had a surgery where now I have to use elastics to pull down my upper canines.
    My set up is odd, I’m just curious how other people are doing it.
    Thank you for any info 🙏🙏🙏
    PS: I don’t have any hooks on mine. My ortho just cut my aligners by hand to make a spot to hook them on, but I can’t get mine on at all.
    I’m going back next week to see if we can fix it or find another solution.

    • @BaronDHall
      @BaronDHall  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, yes, we use elastics with our aligners. You can have cuts/hooks like yours where the elastic hooks directly to the aligner. You can also have cutouts that leave room for a small bracket or metal hook to be bonded to the tooth. Doing it that way can typically allow for a stronger elastic.

    My daughter is 8 with a small mouth and her top loop hook is way in the back. I am using a popsicle stick to push the skin out of the way where her inner cheek joins to her mouth but it's really hard and we are not even sure which is the hook. There is a taller loop in front that looks right up on her gums, and appears to be a smaller maybe backwards pointing loop on the very back upper tooth, there is a cylinder in between/under the farthest back loop/bracket. Also it looks like the metal in in her gums. She is in pain and it's been a week. We were waiting for the pain and swelling to go down and now it's a 45 min struggle to get the bands in. Is it us or possible the orthodontist could have not done a great installation. For reference I had bands as a kid and they were easy to put in, also I can do tiny jewelry work so it's not my dexterity.

    • @BaronDHall
      @BaronDHall  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's impossible for me to say exactly what's going on without seeing you, but it's very unlikely that the orthodontist put them on incorrectly. Sometimes those hooks do go into the gums and make it very difficult to put the elastics on. It could be that her gums are very swollen, but it could be just bad luck with the location of the hooks. I would share your concern with the orthodontist and see if they have another solution. She might be able to put the rubber bands on other teeth for example.

      It had turned out that her gums up top in the back were swollen and irritated and the loop was digging into them. The orthodontist removed the wire and band hooks up top so she can heal for 6 weeks and we got her a Waterpik flosser so she can wash that hard to reach part of her mouth better. The band hook has to go way far in the top back area of her mouth and the Dr is going to bend it outwards a little more next try.

    Hi I'm hoping you can help me so I just got my rubber band yesterday because my lower teeth when I bite has a bit of space on the left (as if my jaw was crooked) and after I took them off the first time to eat I had forgotten with bottom tooth it was hooked to. At the top they are hooked to the last brackets hook and my lower teeth I had hooked it onto the first tooth going towards the back that has the same hook but I wasn't sure if had put the elastics on the canine tooth with the hook or if I put it on the tooth next to my canine with the same hook. I'm guessing I did it right because from what I remember the rubber bands weren't in the way of my tongue like when I placed the rubber bands on the lower canine teeth. I'm sorry if this was a bit confusing 😂

    • @BaronDHall
      @BaronDHall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only slightly confusing, but that's okay 😁 From what it sounds like, you're correct, but I think the best and easiest solution would be for you to take a picture of your rubber bands on your teeth and email that to your orthodontist to see if you have them in the correct place.
