Both drums sound great, but I like Ludwig with gut best.

    Hi Rick !
I am a student in Japan.
I love the classical warm sound of natural gut, but I cannot get this in Japan.
So, can I substitute tennis gut or gut strings for violin etc.? I do not like the sound of synthetic gut very much.

Yes you can it just takes a bit more effort to bend the plastic to shape.

      Hi Mario
What do you mean by gold cables? If you are talking about the gold Puresound snares that would not be practical because of the sympathetic vibration (snare buzz) caused by lower instruments such as the low brass , french horns, bass drum and timpani.

I'm talking about for example Grover gold ( like gut)8 cables alone to play ppp or i need to put it with wound wire cables to play smooth rolls??,what do you think it works better, because i'm tunning a Tama starphonic steel snare drum, and i have doubts

Thanks Rick ! I'm wondering how good (or bad) it would be to use a gut snare in a drumset ; what do you think ?

Gut snares work great for drum set.
      Lots of impact.
