i saw the video but wanted to ask you, im a new player, never tried the game, and im interested in a melee class with 2 handed weapon, and i read about both champion and captain, the thing is i cant really decide completly between this two options which one would you recomend?
@@Lockna93 I’d say captain for a two handed weapon as their abilities work alongside those types of weapon. I think for Champion you may run into the problem that with a weapon like that some skills may get greyed out, but I’d have to double check. It’s almost like as a new player going in and trying a sort of customized class immediately when I would personally recommend sticking to a basic one for the time being.
The lowbie riding quest is new within the last year since it wasn't around last time I played back in March of 2022. Was a surprise for me seeing it when came back. It's nice to save 85 lp on each toon.
You didn't have to pay/spend points twice, I believe, for Beorning. I remember it being one item in the store. Frodo had to use a different last name because 'Baggins' was the target of the Black Riders. 13:43 - o.O I never noticed that Amdir was in this cutscene. 👀 I guess that foreshadowed what happened to him. Strider tells you that he must leave to look for the real Baggins before the Black Riders do. (I checked the wiki to make sure. lol) Lastly and most importantly, Celandine's soup wasn't terrible. 😤 Amdir was just too ill to have any appetite.
still watching, but I noticed you questioned the underhill reference? I think Gandalf told him to use that name when traveling so the Enemy couldn't find him :)
Yeah I realized why he did when the Black Rider was looking for baggins and then the bounder said he hadn’t seen a Baggins. I was like oh yeah Frodo probably doesn’t wanna put him or others in danger by showing up like “Oh yeah I’m bilbo ready to begin my journey of destroying the precious..” 😭
@@bobsmithgofish I will def have a video out about tips for new players and such which will cover a good chunk of this. I’m thinking about putting out some gameplay without commentary too. Thoughts on that? Just nothing but some quick gameplay in certain areas…
@@aubreytheweirdone that's a good q, as since lotro is a f2p game, I'm sure they would watch more for the commentary than just silent; if it were a pay to play game, they might like silence more? not sure; just my two cents
I've been playing LOTRO free for a few weeks. Only 2 character slots is painful as I've had to make a delete several characters before deciding on classes to play {champion and hunter}.
Thanks for a series for us cheapskates! Archet looks so cool as a starting place (hobbit). By the time my elf champion got there from Ered Luin it was BBQed!😂
Okay well this kind of intrigues me, I think I might have to make a free to play account, I've been playing on an off since Rise of Isengard and every time I log in on a new character my bags are already half full of all of the extra stuff that I've purchased from past expansions and the ultimate bundles
Yes! I have the same problem too. Having a free account really helped me get a clearer understanding of what all is needed in the game when you play vs what I didn’t realize isn’t needed from the expansion pack purchases that I assumed everyone had cause I had them for so long.
@@aubreytheweirdone yeah it's an awakening of sorts when you suddenly don't have all the quality of life items your used to and realize what a new player goes through.
HAHAHA 😝 I was like editing this video for a few days and I legit was like do I include this, do I not??? I like dwarves don’t get me wrong, but I very rarely play dwarves. I create female characters mostly so that’s sort of why I don’t play dwarves often as you cannot make a female. I think on my main account with my 20 some characters, I only have one dwarf 😭
See that makes much more sense! ha, as any class that can only play female- I generally don't play because I play male classes, totally makes sense! Another good video can't wait for more Lotro content!
I'm a month behind on this but I have a question. I'm a lifetime sub on my main account so to play there is much easier but I've often wanted to try the F2P just for the challenge. The lack of bag space would drive me nuts at first! One thing I often buy is the tortoise stone which blocks XP so you can level more slowly. Do your levels increase as fast in F2P? I hate out leveling content! Great video!
One of the more expensive things in the store that is really beneficial is the Journeyman Riding Skill trait. It’s an account wide upgrade that makes your horses go at the highest speed of 78%. It’s about 2500 points I believe. It’s something I’ve been saving for on my main account for several months now. I also recommend some of the cosmetic outfit bundles as those sometimes can get taken out later in the game and therefore it’s like super exclusive when you do have some of those items.
Most important purchases are additional bag and storage space, I think. Other stuff can follow after. Bag space is only available through LOTRO points (LPs) and the VIP subscription permanent unlock (which unlocks most Swift Travel destinations at the Stable-masters). You can unlock additional Vault space with in-game gold for a while, and then you'll have to spend LPs for more. Shared Storage (server-wide) and Wardrobe space (for cosmetics) are also only available through LPs and VIP. Regarding the other suggestions: 1. The Apprentice or the Journeyman Riding Trait would be very nice to have but may not be a top priority purchase. Most mounts you can earn in-game have 62% speed a few have 68% speed, and sometimes - if lucky - you can get temporary mount speed buffs. Maybe an early mid to late mid-game purchase or later as these are quite expensive. By this point, you may find yourself considering getting additional content (Expansions, Quest Packs) - which are also quite expensive - as you will run out of free questing content before Gondor, if you plan to level past 95+. That said, world access is completely(?) free if you feel like going old-school and grinding tons of mobs, and there are repeatable content (instances, missions, festivals, etc.). Also, if we are lucky, the devs might do another big quest pack giveaway and/or expansion discount this year or next, so you may or may not need to purchase any content besides the latest expansions. Quest Packs and some Expansions become unlocked for VIPs for the duration of the sub. Expansions (which are larger bundles of content than Quest Packs) are only available for real money when they're newly released, and then they become available for LPs after 6(?) months. 2. The Universal Toolkit is also nice to have and can last you a long time, but there are crafted toolkits that are better, which you can get from other players or craft yourself. Character slots, I think, are another good purchase as you only start with two for free. VIP unlocks 5 (two of which are rentals). Premium unlocks 3. There are 10 classes so far in the game with one new coming in the last quarter of this year, and so I think character slots are a good purchase to make at some point.
