Coming Out to Myself - 14 Years Later

- It's LGBT+ History Month, and October 11th is #NationalComingOutDay. After pondering this video idea for a few years, now felt like the right time to relive my first #comingout - by re-reading the journal entry I wrote at 19 on a raw, tragic night in 2006. I hadn't looked at these words in 14 years. T'was the night I came out to myself and to God: a same-sex attracted or gay or queer Christian. Soon after this, I'd come out to my parents too.
And the journey continues . . .

Thanks for sharing Tom! Love seeing God's faithfulness play out in your life all these years :)
The loss of a beloved pet is so painful. I feel your pain as I have been there with one of my dogs.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. It's so rough. I didn't say much about it in this video, but I was also a pretty lonely kid with few friends. Certainly none that knew about my sexuality at the time. So losing Annie amidst all that loneliness and isolation was deeply wounding. Took me a while to come out of that brutality.
The "these stupid democrats!" entry made me chuckle.
Thanx for sharing man I came out as GAY God made me this year!! I came from the Conservitive Mennonite!!
as a "person faith" i acrually ended up leaving the church lol. There was too much of a disparity between what i believed and reality. Scripture doesn't dictate reality, it explains it and when its explanations are wrong it loses its authority to dictate how a person should live or react to reality
I am puzzled by those who say that they didn't realize their homosexuality until well into adulthood. Did they, for years or decades, fantasize about the opposite sex whenever they practiced onanism?
Can't speak for them certainly, but I'll say this about my first 19 years...it's more than tempting to shove aside something you don't want to see.
Keep looking to the Lord Jesus 🙏
You mentioned your are an enneagram 4, do you know your myers briggs?
Yeah! I'm an INFJ.
@@thomasmarkz That makes a lot of sense, actually
