We apologize for the poor audio, we had a mic die before the interview. However, we felt it would be a shame not to bring you Mark's insight on these two timeless shapes. If you have any more questions, feel free to give us a call at 252-987-6000
It’s great to hear the insight and history from the surfer and the hand shaper of his own surfboards that he won 4 world titles on. Great time capsule of a surfer and craftsman. Much respect as a surfer-Shaper-artist myself. Thanks for sharing.👍🏾
Love this. So awesome to hear the history of this iconic, game-changing board straight from MR's mouth. Over 40 years later and my modern epoxy "hybrid fish" has the same outline and rocker, and goes best as a twin plus trailer.
I had a 6'2 T&C 3 fin channel bottom in 1980. It was freaky fast compared to my roommates single fin. Loved paddling out and watching MR, Buzzy, Rabbit, Simon Anderson or Shaun Thompson in the lineup. I would just sit and watch because I wasn't getting a wave anyway!!🏄🏽♂️🤙
I was 14 I'm 63 now grew up in Huntington Beach my board was from windansea and it was a 6-1 19/2 6in swallowtail with a 6-inch Brewer fin and it tore it up that was a 1973 people would watch me in amazement bat board ripped big or small waves. We didn't have the big money that they have now or I would have been in the top.
Had one in 1979 6'4", at 57 I went back to the Flying Fish from MR 6'10". Had it made a bit thinner than standard, I weigh 76Kgs. Listen !! This is a magic carpet ride. Get one.

The Wounded Gull. One of my childhood heroes. An articulate legend ripper.
