      You cant support whistles. It's disconnect like falsetto.,
      Your chords are just open and you cant control the air.
      The difference in comparison with falsetto is that whistles require little work and air, almost like holding your breath...
      Like the opposite of vocal fry.

    I used to be a Soprano in high school choir, I keep my voice practiced to not loose my notes though. I have been trying to reach Christine Daaé’s highest note in Phantom of the Opera for so long, I was always just a TINY bit short of it and the yawn technique helped me actually hit it!! Hey Galih, good question. The whistle can be very unpredictable at times. My best advice is to continue working for a few minutes on whistle each day. That's how you can get it happening when you need it.

    • @ramseyvoicestudio
      @ramseyvoicestudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว +103

      Hey Phoenix, if the sound is cracking, it's possible that you're in head voice register rather than whistle. In my experience, if you're just hearing air, it sounds like you probably need to develop your mixed voice first. Then tackle whistle. Thank you so much for making this video! I found that my daily voice lessons were fine for chest voice throat and lower head voice but that I wasnt able to hit high head voice. I searched how to do whistle voice and your video was the most legitimate looking one. Wow, after one session I can hit high head voice notes in the song I wanted to sing with. I cant wait to see what I can do after adding this to my regular voice exercises and doing them for a few weeks. Super exciting. Thank you. I was confused with terminology, I wasnt actually looking for whistle voice, I was looking for really high head voice. But this works for that. All I do is let more air pass through the vocal cords while doing your exercises so its just as high but not as squeaky and it primes the chords to do those super high vocals like at the end of "This Means War" sung by Madelyn Baily or the ending notes of "Wicked Game" sung by Daisy Grey.

    Hey! I’m a classically trained coloratura soprano and I have always been able to do these high notes in my flageolet but they always come out SUPER loud and very clear. How would a coloratura who often sings up to F6 for their rep do whistle notes that are soft and have more air in them? I love the ease that Mariah has in going in and out of registers and it sounds like she’s barely making any sound whereas whenever I sing up there, it sounds hella loud and unlike the rest of the genre that I am singing. I feel like it would give feedback on a mic if I sang them this loudly too. I am trying to find ways to teach whistles in a non-classical way to other really high sopranos too. I love these exercises but they always end up with me have a really good closure of the vocal folds and a lot of volume.

      The exact same thing happens to me. And I'm feeling a lot of pressure in classes to hit A6 in concert but I'm not comfortable singing that high outside the classroom... So I need to develop my whistle register! I'll wait for any answer they give you! Hopefully it can help both of us! 💪

    • @brielcantor
      @brielcantor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! The more air you put in it, the harder will be to reach high notes, because the bigger air volume always demands more space or pressure to be released, and when you sing higher notes, the space between your vocal chords reduces even more instead of get bigger. So the space demanded to sing with more air being bigger, consequently the vocal chords will vibrate slower, causing lower notes or in some cases, even damaging the voice. So the secret is: the higher is the note, the less air you need to sing it. And after this, practicing is the only thing to do 😊
      You can make a low volume, slow speed glissando exercise from an octave below and raising up to your higher notes, and going back. After, raising half to half tone until the highest note you can do clearly, always with low volume. This will improve even more your muscles without damage, because this is not the vocal pitch that need to be worked out, but the muscles that help the sound being produced. You should feel no pain, but a sensation that your muscles are activated, something like if you have done strenght exercises, but with your voice. Hope I could help you both. Tell me later if it worked. It did for me

    • @ramseyvoicestudio

      Hey Ricky, good questions. It sounds like you're finding a disconnected whistle register on the top. Connecting the head voice and whistle together takes a lot of practice and work. For me, it feels like making the switch as cleanly and quickly as possible, but I've seen some women just naturally start singing in whistle as they go higher. It's a mixed bag.
