OH MY GOD! I finally get this after my teacher refused to show me the steps (for the tenth time) She obviously didn't explain it in a way I could comprehend. I'm taking a midterm tomorrow, and I'm saved! THANK YOU!!! Your method is so much simpler! My teacher told me to multiply the actual inverse (A-1) times the determinant and then multiply by the solution matrix. Thank God I found this in time.

Yeah, you use a graphic calculator like the TI-84. you hit 2nd, then you hit the X^-1 button. That allows you to input matricies. Once you've put in the matricies, then you can use the X^-1 button to find it's inverse. If it's a decimal as it often is, hit Math, then hit Frac, then hit enter

Also, as a hint to others who are taking math: while memorizing equations, rules, and laws is important, of even greater usefulness is learning the logic of math. Nothing is done arbitrarily. If you can create sound reasoning and deductive skills, then solving any problem becomes a lot simpler. Even better is combing memorization with logic.

Hey Patrick, I have a question on your process of factoring out the 1/-11. I tried using the same method on my homework, and succeeded, though when my teacher had us call for questions in class, my answer was not correct. I went over all my math and checked the answer in the back of my textbook. It turned out, my only problem in solving the matrix correctly was I factored out the determinant, same as you did. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I would definitely some some feedback.
