I think this will work even if it’s not for me. But they can do it serious and start with any of Green Lantern, Wonder Woman,or Batman . But with Green Lantern they do need to spend the money and don’t make it goofy again. The other option is to start street level with a Green Arrow or a new Constantine film

As a Superman fan, I cannot stress enough how much I want, nay, *need* this to succeed. Because if it fails, DC will do what they did last time and fall back on the solo Batman series with a guy who has complete control (Nolan with DK in 2006, now Reeves with The Batman). And DC is so much bigger than Batman. Superman has to succeed so that we get an actual DCU, not Batman and friends. How crazy is it that freaking Joker has had two films while Flash and GL have had just one each. And heck, even the Flash movie had Batman in almost a co-lead role. Please DC, enough Batman for a while. Please! And given Gunn's track record, I think we'll be ok.

Most important thing is that this doesn't flop and that it is widely considered to be a great movie. I don't think it has to make loads of profit or atleast that shouldn't be the most important goal. That being said I think anything over 600M should be considered decent Also it wouldn't be the end of DC Studios, it'd just mean more projects like The Batman

WB failed to cash in on the DCEU's...schizophrenic no story. WB also had to run with "connectivity" right out of the gate. Even if this Superman movie is successful, most will look for that connectivity to a greater story. It has to be thick. There has to be a point to the DCU, other than throwing up characters on screen. All it would need is a follow up failure in the next film (whatever that is) and the DCU is done.

Not really, they made Superman Returns that basically inspired from Reeve's Superman, and people don't like it, they reboot it with Mos. They made MoS, that fills in what lacked in Returns and tried it differently, people don't like it, they reboot it with DCU. So, whatever happens they always have the reboot protocol in hand. DC fans are in the safe hands of Warner studio.

That’s true, but at the same time DC’s animated stuff (that pretty much always goes straight to streaming) isn’t nearly as popular as theatrically released films. Those are the money makers that keep studios both alive and relevant. Don’t get me wrong, of course comics and more are of the upmost importance as well, but lacking in the theatrical movie department is pretty embarrasing for them considering how many rich stories they have at their fingertips to tell.

People are not happy that he's keeping things from the previous universe (Peacemaker & Waller) and then firing everyone else (Cavill, Gadot & Afleck). Second, he went out of his way to maintain roles for his family members (his wife and brother) and still fired all the other popular actors. Third, the costumes in the film look horrible and cheap. I can find better stuff at Party City. Fourth, Gunn puts way too much comedy in his films and that's not appropriate for Superman because he's a serious character. He's not a goofball like Plastic man or Deadpool. In addition, fans are gonna be laughing out of control when the see a flying dog 🐶 on the screen. Superman 2025 will make Thor: Ragnarök numbers. The old Snyder-verse gave DC a very bad stigma attached to it.

Second, he went out of his way to maintain roles for his family members (his wife and brother) and still fired all the other popular actors. Third, the costumes in the film look horrible and cheap. I can find better stuff at Party City. Fourth, Gunn puts way too much comedy in his films and that's not appropriate for Superman because he's a serious character. He's not a goofball like Plastic man or Deadpool. In addition, fans are gonna be laughing out of control when the see a flying dog 🐶 on the screen. Lastly, I don't trust Gunn or WB enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. They have lied and backstabbed the fans with their poor decisions way too many times. Therefore, I refuse to watch the film or support it.

@@jasonnicholson4488 People really need to get over Henry Cavill's firing he was a terrible Superman. Also who is upset over Gal Gadot's firing? She's a terrible actress. Do people not remember "Kal-El no!"? As for Ben Affleck great actor but his Batman was poorly written. The DCEU in general was a mistake. At least with James Gunn the films will have a good story even if the suits look dumb.
@callmejacob3234 First, that's your opinion and the rest of us don't have to agree with you. Second, WBD was making money with those actors, but under Gunn leadership, the studio has had multiple flops at the box office, the stock is only $7 dollars a share, and the studio has over $40 billion dollars worth of debt. It's ok if you like Gunn, but his Superman won't be able to save the studio with a fractured fan base. Lastly, he picked a bad release date for his film because it won't be able to compete with Jurassic Park and the Fantastic Four.
