Brilliant....i have not been wild camping for 2 years now as the pack size always puts me off, However after watching this i thought sod it....go for it... maybe in a couple of weeks time...i have not got any lightweight gear but im sure my back can cope with my old Coleman tent and Trangia cooking gear.. a few years ago myself and a couple of mates never missed a month of wild camps for a couple of years...time to give it another go

Just watched your video on my big tv,loved it.I spend alot of time on the moors as down the road,good history for people that dont know the moors well.Loved the wildcamp,its one my fav parts of dartmoor,long before trev from summit was about.My bedroll ive had for some time,its small and has a built in footpump,never let me down.Your drone is slowly getting better,and i loved the mrs victor meldrew in the morning lol.i also loved the 2 ronnies,alot better than the pc rubbish they put on nowdays and says its comedy.Kat must be like me a star trek fan with the borg reference.Hope you do moor of these camps,and im hopeing you get a kayak soon. big hug debs and stay safe x

Such amazing flowers!! Beautiful spot to camp for both a sunset & sunrise. Love meals like yours that don't require a lot of water. Sometimes water can be hard to find on my hikes, and we all know how heavy it is to carry a ton with you. You picked the perfect day for the hiking trip, the weather was in your favor.
Good morning RVA, yes we really hit the jackpot with the weather on this one, looked ominous at a couple of points, but it came good. Yea water and hydration, food is a massive weight adder, we are used to carrying at least 4 litres each, but we dont really walk more than 10/12 miles wity that kind of weight. Fantastic adventure for sure! I too love the sound of running water...I think Otis is fine with it too as long as he doesn't have to stick a paw in it! lol The moss and ferns really are stunning! Really surprised the Exped never made it through its first night! Are you sure you closed the valve correctly? I noticed you pressed it to let some air out. Sometimes the membrane sticks slightly open when you do and needs adjusting back into its correct position. Once or twice that's happened to me and the mat deflated through the night. Once the valve is back in position everything was ok again. My current Exped did eventually puncture after nearly a 1000 miles of backpacking and wild camping on night 2 of the SUW on a commercial and beautifully flat camp ground! Go figure! The next night I found the puncture by putting it into the loch and repairing it with the included repair kit and it held for the remainder of the trail. :-)
Good morning Snowy, that'll learn us for not testing it properly at home first hey, yea we would normally carry the foam mats too for that extra layer of protection, hopefully the ground was so soft and boggy it was a case of it getting practiced. What a great film guys - loved those orchids you found - I spent quite a lot of my recent trip looking out for Snowdonia Lillies as its the right time of year but no luck 😭 Thought of you guys every time I thought I had spotted one 😂Have to admit, those Synmats look ace! Evening guys hows it going , I spent last week in North Wales, was going to go wild camping and do the 3000s, but as luck would have it ... it rained for 3 days so my week was in a campsite in Betws y Coed and did some local walks... but this weekend weather is looking great 👍... question why are the hills around Cornwall and Dartmoor called Tor , I've Exped Synmat M 7 R4.9 rating plus I've just recently got the MSR Elixir 2 V2 🙂👍 great vid 👍

Oh hey, we've got the same drone :) I'm always a bit jealous of people camping in the UK -- you get to fly a drone *and* eat near your tent (as opposed to far away to not attract bears). Really is a very interesting and unique landscape, and you had wonderful evening and morning light. Definitely worth dealing with a self-deflating pad for!

*sees 35 minute video* Me: "Gosh, I hope this lives up to the hype...." You guys: "GET TO THA CHOPPA!" "Would be easy to murder someone up here..." Me: "Oh boy, hope Ceri remembered to pack the tea this time..." SOLD! Love those mossy trees in the old woodland. Just realized you guys pack huge Ospreys. That means you guys are super serious and possibly independently wealthy for that size of Osprey pack. Nice of them to set up your trig points in pillars you can see from a mile away. Must make it easy to find the high point. We wouldn't know. 🤪 All that pillow soft grass, and still doing an air mattress? Bit of wild *_glamping_* is what this is. Had a good chuckle on the "How Tors are Made" bit. Totally had us in mind of Smeagol talking to his reflection in the pool... "Have I told you precious?" JR thought Kats tale of the Tors was extremely interesting, but he's a bit of a rock nerd. Aria was with you on that bit Ceri. We switched sides for the morning bit though. Aria's a late sleeper, JR would have been out trying to catch the sunrise and shilling in a wash of birdsong. Any idea why the cows in England look at people with murder in their eyes? Cows around here are quite friendly, and either ignore you or come up for a pat. The ones over there seem to look like they'd as soon gore you as look at you. That looked like an amazing night out. Enjoyable to watch, obviously more enjoyable to experience.

Good effort dudes unlucky on the air bed going down you'd probably be better with a foam mat underneath to protect them as they are so easy to pop on any little bumps or sticks. Amazing sunrise you must have got up early for that one! The MSR looks good in brown
Thanks Adam, it was making over due camp and we really enjoyed every second. Yes we normally use a foam mat, for extra protection and warmth, soda law huh! We think it was a defective product in this instance, going to leak test them later this week before looking into the returns policy. Cool camp folks. My experiences of Dartmoor are from Devon childhood hols. I can't remember too much but I do remember going to somewhere called Dartmeet and taking a ghoulish interest in the prison. The babbling brook was very soothing. Twin Falls was wonderful. Love when I find wild orchids, that heath spotted orchid was so pretty. The views were so nice from the tor and Ryder's Hill. That looked like some great camping. The clouds made the sunset and sunrise so beautiful. Ceri, you were probably NOT a very good student ;-) Listen to Kat! Yay. I’ve so been looking forward to watching this video. I’ve been out multi day hiking this week so had no time to watch the tube. Great to see you out on a camp. Those tors are fantastic aren’t they and it was great to see the way marker cross too. There’s one of those in the Peak District too. I like your MSR tent and the little tip regarding putting the outer on was very helpful. I’ve been very impressed with mine, but I’ve had an issue getting the fly on in windy conditions. By the way, you both looked fab after a mixed night sleeping. I look rough as when I get up after a camp 🤣. Brilliant stuff, and fab achievement with the subscriber numbers 🙂💚👍

I read the The hound of the Baskervilles two weeks ago and that gave me a very different impression of Dartmoor than what your movie does:-) You make wild camping look very inviting, but I would not like pitching your type of tent in a strong wind (which there is a lot of in my place). Have you tried using it in strong winds? Cheers

Wow!! What a video 😃😃😃 Saw this notification this morning before work and couldn't wait to watch it tonight. Oh...my...God! Wild camp too!! 😱😱 Now I dunno what to do if we can get to meet at some point, hike or hike & camp 😆😂 Looked like such a cool and beautiful area. I love a good babbling brook too 👍🏻 twin falls looked stunning 😍 Dartmoor brings me back some memories lol... not fun and games then though 😂 Were those some cows you had to pass? 😬😳 All worth it though to get to a trig and especially to camp by it 😝😄😁👌🏻 Cool tent too and I dont care about weight either would rather have the kit im happy with at camp. Suppose you could both split the weight too with one carrying the tent and the other poles / pegs maybe 🤔 Hahaha made me laugh with the fly in the tent cus when im trying to film bits in there I always get things go in then have to spend time getting them back out to zip it up again 😂😂 I quite like your sleeping bags with that bit that goes round your neck haha. Loving my MSR Windburner what an awesome stove it is. Love the drone footage too cant wait to eventually get mine lol. You really did have an awesome little spot there 🥰🥰 Once again love the info on the Tors!! Cerri if I were you I wouldn't even have a TV I could listen to Kats info on things all the time haha, so educated and interesting you are Kat 👏🏻👏🏻 I actually rewound it and listened twice... serious! Nothing beats watching the sunset when you're out on a camp 👌🏻 Not good about the sleeping pad going down though 😕 were they both the same? Hope you get another one and its all good. When I get a new one I always blow it up in my house first in a room and leave it overnight see how it is in the morning just incase. Really happy you got both golden hours too what a bonus. Eating your breakfast on a trig... AWESOME!! Really, really, really loved this video thank you both so much for sharing your adventure and camp and putting all the effort in with filming and editing 🥰 Also great about letting others know about checking Dartmoor for areas as there are a lot of danger areas too with RM doing exercises and some people might not know! We need limiting on how much we film 🤐👍 Yea it was a wild area of the moors,the cattle we only over the hill from us, was a little nerve wracking luckly they stayed away 🏕🐃 Really pleased to hear you enjoyed the Tor talk, contemplating breaking it down and realising it as a mini video on how tors are made 🤗 Yea we're all about the comfort, taking our time and soaking it in,chat soon and flip a coin for a camp or hike lol! Ceri & Kat, those rucksacks were impressive, Osprey packs are cool though! Beautiful walking through that greenery alongside the brook, definitely soothing stuff. Love orchids, foxgloves and bog cotton 👍 A cracking camp spot high up in Southern Dartmoor and good tent teamwork for that tautness👍 Exped mats are super comfy and great in cold weather, as long as they don't deflate. I hope you were being honestly attentive during that interesting history of the making of tors😊 A beautiful morning complimented by excellent looking 'trig service'. Always cool to be out for a night on the hills👍👍

It's a nice area, I passed through it on my way back from 3 days canoe/camp on the Dart. I'm of the opinion though that the river is named after the moor. It was once covered in oak trees, the Cornish word for oak is 'dar', this is my speculation of course but as Cornish was still spoken to some extent on Dartmoor and South Devon into the 13th century I'd be willing to wager.

Best Arnie impression ever. Some really nice camping gear, I have always liked the msr tents but up in Scotland I don't like the idea of the inner being pitched first. Those sleeping bags look the business I will need to Google them. I was impressed with your new gear then you pull a drone too, nice. Good evening Gus, and yes my proudest achievement....remembering the gas! We thought it wise to invest some money into out camping kit, alot of our old stuff was dated and extremely large. Super impressed with the bags and mats so far, hopefully getting a swap via Synmat wont be an issue either. The drone was a recent birthday treat from Kat and her parents, taking some getting used to. Also gold star for the Arnie compliment, pleased someone enjoyed it lol! A bit disappointed, TH-cam never notified me when this video came out :( Anyway, back to more positive matters, you two, are just bloody great..... The chemistry and #banter is on point, even down to the secret tickly handshake, which made me LOOOOOLLLL. Ceri, the drone work, i need some tips, haha..... I only recently found out with my mini 2, the roller switch which controls the gimbal, if you press the "FN" button and use the roller switch, it allows you too zoom in and out. Why on earth have i only just found this haha... Hope you're both keeping well. Take care. ATB Dave :)

Wow. What can I say guys. Absolutely fantastic adventure you had there. The filming & editing were spot on. Kats knowledge just keeps astounding me. The drone shots were fantastic. All in all a very enjoyable video. We've covered a lot of Dartmoor over the years but Ryders Hill is one of the few places we haven't visited yet. The view from the top down to the southern Moor was amazing. You could just make out the Red Lake spoil tip in the distance. Thanks again guys for a very entertaining video.👏👏👍👍🙂🙂
Hey Martin, we have since learned drone flying is a nono on Darty, all the things we checked I didn't think about that. We did ensure it was never launched near cattle. @@TeaInValhalla Hi guys. Yeah it is a shame about not being able to fly your drone on Dartmoor. I don't know why though as most drone flyers are considerate to other users of the moor. I flew mine when we were on Dartmoor in May. Other national parks we have visited allow responsible drone flying so i cant understand why its not allowed on Dartmoor. If you are flying well away from other people & cattle etc then i can't see that you are doing any harm. I just hope i dont get any backlash from any drone haters when i upload my Dartmoor vids. Brilliant....i have not been wild camping for 2 years now as the pack size always puts me off, However after watching this i thought sod it....go for it... maybe in a couple of weeks time...i have not got any lightweight gear but im sure my back can cope with my old Coleman tent and Trangia cooking gear.. a few years ago myself and a couple of mates never missed a month of wild camps for a couple of years...time to give it another go

Just watched your video on my big tv,loved it.I spend alot of time on the moors as down the road,good history for people that dont know the moors well.Loved the wildcamp,its one my fav parts of dartmoor,long before trev from summit was about.My bedroll ive had for some time,its small and has a built in footpump,never let me down.Your drone is slowly getting better,and i loved the mrs victor meldrew in the morning lol.i also loved the 2 ronnies,alot better than the pc rubbish they put on nowdays and says its comedy.Kat must be like me a star trek fan with the borg reference.Hope you do moor of these camps,and im hopeing you get a kayak soon. big hug debs and stay safe x

Such amazing flowers!! Beautiful spot to camp for both a sunset & sunrise. Love meals like yours that don't require a lot of water. Sometimes water can be hard to find on my hikes, and we all know how heavy it is to carry a ton with you. You picked the perfect day for the hiking trip, the weather was in your favor.
Good morning RVA, yes we really hit the jackpot with the weather on this one, looked ominous at a couple of points, but it came good. Yea water and hydration, food is a massive weight adder, we are used to carrying at least 4 litres each, but we dont really walk more than 10/12 miles wity that kind of weight. Really surprised the Exped never made it through its first night! Are you sure you closed the valve correctly? I noticed you pressed it to let some air out. Sometimes the membrane sticks slightly open when you do and needs adjusting back into its correct position. Once or twice that's happened to me and the mat deflated through the night. Once the valve is back in position everything was ok again. My current Exped did eventually puncture after nearly a 1000 miles of backpacking and wild camping on night 2 of the SUW on a commercial and beautifully flat camp ground! Go figure! The next night I found the puncture by putting it into the loch and repairing it with the included repair kit and it held for the remainder of the trail. :-)
Good morning Snowy, that'll learn us for not testing it properly at home first hey, yea we would normally carry the foam mats too for that extra layer of protection, hopefully the ground was so soft and boggy it was a case of it getting practiced. What a great film guys - loved those orchids you found - I spent quite a lot of my recent trip looking out for Snowdonia Lillies as its the right time of year but no luck 😭 Thought of you guys every time I thought I had spotted one 😂Have to admit, those Synmats look ace! Glad Ceri's sleeping bag was longer, but how did he cope with the width being a "broader person"? 😂 Have to say, your route over the 2 days looked absolutely stunning and am sorely tempted to alter my plans for my upcoming 3 day trip in August.

Evening guys hows it going , I spent last week in North Wales, was going to go wild camping and do the 3000s, but as luck would have it ... it rained for 3 days so my week was in a campsite in Betws y Coed and did some local walks... but this weekend weather is looking great 👍... question why are the hills around Cornwall and Dartmoor called Tor , I've Exped Synmat M 7 R4.9 rating plus I've just recently got the MSR Elixir 2 V2 🙂👍 great vid 👍

I'm always a bit jealous of people camping in the UK -- you get to fly a drone *and* eat near your tent (as opposed to far away to not attract bears).
Really is a very interesting and unique landscape, and you had wonderful evening and morning light. Definitely worth dealing with a self-deflating pad for!

Love those mossy trees in the old woodland. Just realized you guys pack huge Ospreys. That means you guys are super serious and possibly independently wealthy for that size of Osprey pack. Nice of them to set up your trig points in pillars you can see from a mile away. Must make it easy to find the high point. We wouldn't know. 🤪
All that pillow soft grass, and still doing an air mattress? Bit of wild *_glamping_* is what this is.
Had a good chuckle on the "How Tors are Made" bit. Totally had us in mind of Smeagol talking to his reflection in the pool... "Have I told you precious?" JR thought Kats tale of the Tors was extremely interesting, but he's a bit of a rock nerd. Aria was with you on that bit Ceri. We switched sides for the morning bit though. Aria's a late sleeper, JR would have been out trying to catch the sunrise and shilling in a wash of birdsong.
Any idea why the cows in England look at people with murder in their eyes? Cows around here are quite friendly, and either ignore you or come up for a pat. The ones over there seem to look like they'd as soon gore you as look at you.
That looked like an amazing night out. Enjoyable to watch, obviously more enjoyable to experience.

Good effort dudes unlucky on the air bed going down you'd probably be better with a foam mat underneath to protect them as they are so easy to pop on any little bumps or sticks. Amazing sunrise you must have got up early for that one! The MSR looks good in brown
Thanks Adam, it was making over due camp and we really enjoyed every second. Yes we normally use a foam mat, for extra protection and warmth, soda law huh! We think it was a defective product in this instance, going to leak test them later this week before looking into the returns policy. Cool camp folks. My experiences of Dartmoor are from Devon childhood hols. I can't remember too much but I do remember going to somewhere called Dartmeet and taking a ghoulish interest in the prison. Yes a DJI mini 2, again soemof you recent videos and captures really helped make the call, all be it via Kat and her parents. Just building confidence with it atm, figuring out what's what and where I can and cant fly it, all good fun 🤗

The babbling brook was very soothing. Twin Falls was wonderful. Love when I find wild orchids, that heath spotted orchid was so pretty. The views were so nice from the tor and Ryder's Hill. That looked like some great camping. The clouds made the sunset and sunrise so beautiful. Ceri, you were probably NOT a very good student ;-) Listen to Kat! Good save by serving tea with a smile in the morning. Nice to see that landscape going back to bracken.

Yay. I’ve so been looking forward to watching this video. I’ve been out multi day hiking this week so had no time to watch the tube. Great to see you out on a camp. Those tors are fantastic aren’t they and it was great to see the way marker cross too. There’s one of those in the Peak District too. I like your MSR tent and the little tip regarding putting the outer on was very helpful. I’ve been very impressed with mine, but I’ve had an issue getting the fly on in windy conditions. By the way, you both looked fab after a mixed night sleeping. I look rough as when I get up after a camp 🤣. Brilliant stuff, and fab achievement with the subscriber numbers 🙂💚👍

I read the The hound of the Baskervilles two weeks ago and that gave me a very different impression of Dartmoor than what your movie does:-) You make wild camping look very inviting, but I would not like pitching your type of tent in a strong wind (which there is a lot of in my place). Have you tried using it in strong winds? Cheers

Cool tent too and I dont care about weight either would rather have the kit im happy with at camp. Suppose you could both split the weight too with one carrying the tent and the other poles / pegs maybe 🤔

Ceri & Kat, those rucksacks were impressive, Osprey packs are cool though! Beautiful walking through that greenery alongside the brook, definitely soothing stuff. Love orchids, foxgloves and bog cotton 👍 A cracking camp spot high up in Southern Dartmoor and good tent teamwork for that tautness👍 Exped mats are super comfy and great in cold weather, as long as they don't deflate. I hope you were being honestly attentive during that interesting history of the making of tors😊 A beautiful morning complimented by excellent looking 'trig service'. Always cool to be out for a night on the hills👍👍

Such varied landscape in Darty, we love it, was Michael needed recharge. The defective matbhad now been sent back, hope to get a new one back and get back out soon. I was searching the internet using the words 'Pole time', 'Ceri's is slightly longer', 'Ceri's new toy' and 'double entrances' and some how stumbled on you're video hahaha! Sorry couldn't resist! It's a nice area, I passed through it on my way back from 3 days canoe/camp on the Dart.
I'm of the opinion though that the river is named after the moor. It was once covered in oak trees, the Cornish word for oak is 'dar', this is my speculation of course but as Cornish was still spoken to some extent on Dartmoor and South Devon into the 13th century I'd be willing to wager.

Some really nice camping gear, I have always liked the msr tents but up in Scotland I don't like the idea of the inner being pitched first. Those sleeping bags look the business I will need to Google them. I was impressed with your new gear then you pull a drone too, nice.

Good evening Gus, and yes my proudest achievement....remembering the gas! We thought it wise to invest some money into out camping kit, alot of our old stuff was dated and extremely large. Super impressed with the bags and mats so far, hopefully getting a swap via Synmat wont be an issue either. The drone was a recent birthday treat from Kat and her parents, taking some getting used to.

Ceri, the drone work, i need some tips, haha..... I only recently found out with my mini 2, the roller switch which controls the gimbal, if you press the "FN" button and use the roller switch, it allows you too zoom in and out. Why on earth have i only just found this haha...

Wow. What can I say guys. Absolutely fantastic adventure you had there. The filming & editing were spot on. Kats knowledge just keeps astounding me. The drone shots were fantastic. All in all a very enjoyable video. We've covered a lot of Dartmoor over the years but Ryders Hill is one of the few places we haven't visited yet. The view from the top down to the southern Moor was amazing. You could just make out the Red Lake spoil tip in the distance. Thanks again guys for a very entertaining video.👏👏👍👍🙂🙂
Hey Martin, we have since learned drone flying is a nono on Darty, all the things we checked I didn't think about that. We did ensure it was never launched near cattle.

@@TeaInValhalla Hi guys. Yeah it is a shame about not being able to fly your drone on Dartmoor. I don't know why though as most drone flyers are considerate to other users of the moor. I flew mine when we were on Dartmoor in May. Other national parks we have visited allow responsible drone flying so i cant understand why its not allowed on Dartmoor. If you are flying well away from other people & cattle etc then i can't see that you are doing any harm. I just hope i dont get any backlash from any drone haters when i upload my Dartmoor vids. My next Dartmoor video is almost ready to upload. Take care guys. Martin & Michelle
