    Hey Youthman, thanks for the great video! The 8015 seems to be a great choice and since I don‘t need external amplification for my room size but want a 7.2.4 setup with the option for two additional speakers it‘s perfect. The presets are a game changer for me. I have an Atmos setup with the top speakers set up as top front and top rear for gaming and movies with great Atmos/DTS material. However, I strongly prefer the Auro-Matic upmixer for other content which can only be enabled when the speakers are configured as front height and rear height (because it is supposed to have the heights at just a 30 degree angle, but it still sounds better than the other upmixers even if the speakers are placed in the 45 degree angle for Atmos). Now I can finally get access to to the Auro-Matic by just changing the preset and that‘s fantastic. Sound United are doing a fantastic job in improving their products in a way that is really useful for the consumer.

      I actually am really interested in both personal impressions and full bench testing. Both are needed to get a true representation of what a product is bringing to you as a consumer. After watching the 2020 Denon reviews, one feature I especially liked was the ability to disengage three outputs from the internal app. I like the ability to provide my front soundstage with identical power, while reserving the full internal power for the surround speakers.
    My first real receiver (circa 1979) was a Merantz. It was wonderful! I want my final unit to be another Marantz! I waited with great anticipation to see how the 2020 Marantz models would be a step above their cousin, Denon, products.
    What a HUGE disappointment to learn Marantz opted for an all or nothing approach with external amps! Thanks for the ability to add two channels, but which two do I externally amplify? The front middle is the most important in a home theater setup. Do I flip a coin for the left or right front channel? (Obviously not)
    Both Denon and Marantz recognize external apps need to be disconnected from the internal app for technical reasons way above my pay grade. Otherwise they would not do it.
    So, Youthman (or Marantz, or Mr Jones), what are the ramifications to adding a three channel external amp for the front stage with this unit? Two of the three will be the “extra” channels, and likely go to the left and right front. But this leaves the center front channel attached to the external amp, but not disconnected from the internal amp, right!?! How will this mess with the internal workings of sound system? And ultimately the sound produced through this configuration?
    Thanks for helping this old guy understand before I spend the money and discover I messed up!

    Question Youthman, why do you change your speaker type to small when you have those huge Klipsch La Scala speakers up front?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Daniel is correct. Nothing wrong with trying it both ways to see which sound you prefer and your set up with your speakers. Also by setting a crossover, it allows your receiver not to have to work as hard. It’s not an issue with me because I’m using a separate amplifier the guys that are powering multiple speakers with a single AVR, it’s very taxing on the receiver if you’re crossovers are not enabled

    So I was wondering I am planning on getting an Amp and Prepro. Would it be better to get the AV7705 or get the SR8015 and run it in Preamp mode. Since the SR8015 has all the new features and is more future proof with it having 8K.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t notice a huge difference in sound adding an amp to the SR8012 that I reviewed but did notice an improvement when O went to the 7705. I think if you were wanting to truly go to separates, a pre-pro would be the better option.
      With that said, the SR 8012 was a fantastic sounding receiver in and of itself. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. Later I will be testing it in preamp mode to see if I can hear a difference

    I understood most of what you said but did you say either you can set it to all channels on or all channels off. So you can't buy separate 5 channel amp for the five main and let marantz power the rest? Well sounded like you can but the amps stay on regardless if you use them and your line to other amplifiers are unbalanced.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s one of the reasons they added preamp mode. When you have an AVR that provides a lot of power, it’s going to get hot. No way around it Unless you add internal fans (which adds noise) or if they moved to class D amps (which I don’t see them doing. Simple fix is to add an AC Infinity Aircom fan to the top.

    Hey Youthman,
    Thanks for the vid.
    After your good reviews. I purchased the 8015.
    If you could shed some light, the dealer and the Marantz rep are not sure if I can do the following:
    I have a PJ theater running 7.2.4
    And I have a pool table area with a tv and 2 in ceiling speakers all running to the 8015.
    The 8015 can run 11 channels at the same time but is a 13 channel receiver.
    If people were over for a football game, could I easily create a preset that allows me to send power to the pool table speakers and reduce my theatre speakers channels, say down to 3.1
    and set the pool table as a zone 2 at the same time without unplugging stuff in the 8015.
    Thanks for any tips

      There are different factors that determine whether or not your system would greatly benefit from adding external amplification.
