      I love the contrast between Riku's personality and voice in JP. Riku's whole thing is that he almost never changes out of his default stance (even when sleeping!) so his voice being so snappy and tiny is really funny to me.
      Makes him seem like he's trying too hard to be cool, an attitude that matches his goofy hair.

    Henry makes N sound like he's entertaining himself through torturing Noah while acting like a gentlemen or a knight before devolving into a well-spoke sadist and shattering his image.
    Ryohei makes N sound and feel like he's instilling a noble samurai-like presence and acting superior and above Noah before plunging him into self-indulgence and sadism.
    I'm not sure what to make of this.

    Japanese voice acting always sounds as they would have only 10 different voice actors in the whole country. It's nice for a while, but after watching alot of anime and playing japanese games with JP voices I get tired of it because its always the same stereotype voices. You see a character and most of the time you already know their voice, before they even started to speak. So I really appreciate when a game has a good dub like Xenoblade. Its so refreshing.

      It's the effect of the language itself I'm afraid, Japanese has an unusually flat intonation and thus subtlety isn't its best aspect which is a stark contrast to a lot of English which has intonations all over the place and you can really define a good mix of emotions within just a few words with the way it is spoken.

    Riku's jp voice ruined the moment. Each N/Noah did really great and I'd say they're equal. As for the rest, eng better imo

    Wow, they really had to go with the generic high pitched anime girl voices in Japanese huh?

      No. They sound like Japanese women and are voiced by high-profile Japanese voice actresses. You're a xenophobe.

    n's a hit, Noah's a miss, taion's a miss, mio's a miss, lanz dunno, eunie's a miss, Sena's a miss. performance + voice put into consideration. voice gotta capture the original characters as well otherwise it can completely change the characters image. of course if you don't consider the JP characters as the true versions of themselves then I guess it doesn't matter (JP voice actors would be the ones chosen and guided by the game creators and not a third party). anyway Noah needs adjustments, mio is too rough/harsh, taion is too old and performance under performing, eunie is too old, sena is diametrically opposed to her JP voice.
    if you closed your eyes and listened to their voices, could you imagine that character's face matching.

      I'm just curious, everything you said, are you saying that the dub is a miss? Like in general, the sub is way better than the dub?

    • @Cryosxify
      @Cryosxify ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mariosonic987pac-hero4 I'd say so. if there was a language this game was built upon, it was japanese (well it is a japanese game). for the world/game we're getting english sounds cringe, japanese sounds right. this isn't like ghost of Tsushima where you could go either way and the experience isn't worsened. only problem is the localization changes names everywhere.

      @@Cryosxify Well if I were to tell you this... I don't really agree with your statement of the dub being a miss. You are free to think like that and there's nothing wrong with that but I do think that the dub gives the Xenoblade series an identity of its own. Most RPGs I know usually have American acting but this one has British acting with different kinds of accents, making it unique. To each their own.

    • @Cryosxify
      @Cryosxify ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mariosonic987pac-hero4 i only care if the voice fits the character, and with the Japanese version as reference you can't help but notice the problems and shortcomings of the English dub.

    • @mariosonic987pac-hero4
      @mariosonic987pac-hero4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Cryosxify Is that so? Sadly, I don't understand Japanese myself. I'm sure the Japanese acting is good but for me, it's more about how they perform overall. You may say that N is a hit but Noah is a miss. The way I see it, considering they're both voiced by the same person, I like the distinction between Noah and N. Noah is more hopeful and N is regret itself. Same thing with Mio and M. Both sound different but have the same actress that has that voice range to make both of them sound a bit distinct. Again, that's just me and you're have the right to stick by what you said.
