I got to know abt k-pop bcuz of BLACKPINK nd they r the only one I listen to in kpop bcuz for me they r the ONLY ONE.
The glove worn by Lisa at one point is a falconer’s glove used with trained falcons. If you look closely during her rap scene, there is actually a live falcon on set with her.

Blackpink has been criticized for being formulaic. “Pink Venom” “How you like that” and “Ddu-du Ddu-du” are structured similarly, but they are all comeback flexes. Like most groups, the b sides and the non headline songs are where they stretch their wings (so to speak).
“As if it’s your last” “Stay” “playing with fire” or “Lovesick Girls” all show different sides of Blackpink.
I’d go back to their debut tracks from 2016, “Whistle” and “Boombayah”. See where they started, where their sound started - they had that swag and presence even then - not quite as much, but they didn’t look like rookies.
For real variety, check out “Psycho” by Red Velvet and “Tomboy” by (G)I-DLE - two other girl groups with different approaches, but just as much presence and talent. Lots of great music, engineering, and stunning visual production.
I agree. Those that making complaints probably didnt listen to other songs Blackpink have. You cant find the same song structure in their B-side.
I think BLACKPINK's sound actually started with 2NE1 (Thank you, Teddy). They were AMAZING. give them a listen and I bet if you are really paying attention, you will find BP in there. :)
@@jamescurfman3284 there’s certainly a lot of carryover. Most producers have a style or sound, and Teddy developed his while working with 2NE1. “As If It’s Your Last” was supposedly intended for 2NE1.
But it would have been produced differently, and ultimately sounded differently, simply because the vocal styles and timbres of the members are so different.
@@Thyrwyn Yes, obviously different performers will sound different from each other. But you can always tell a Teddy Park song.
@@Thyrwyn There was even promo that surfaced in Korea with "2NE1 In Your Area" on it. I love BP, full on Blink, but they were totally given 2NE1's songs/visuals.
I just discovered Blackpink and Kpop in general only a couple of months ago. I am all in on Blackpink! I can't get enough of them. I'm slowly broadening my scope by listening to other groups. I'm so impressed with the pop music coming out of South Korea. Love it!

Idk what type of music you like but, “DDU DU DDU DU” is a trap song, “stay” is a soft slow song, “As if its your last” and “lovesick girls” are more poppy songs, and “BOOMBAYAH” and “WHISTLE” are their debut songs

Bro I'm a 36 year old who had never heard of Blackpink until September of 2021....i made fun of my gf for a few days for listening to "kpop" cause i swore it couldn't be good....HOLY hell was I wrong. She finally made me watch a couple of BP videos and I pretty much got hooked. Now I know every one of their songs, their names, their personalities, everything. They aren't like any girl group ive ever seen. Hope to see more reactions mate

Currently Blackpink is the biggest girl group in the world, they are the first K-pop group to be on the cover of American Elle, Rolling Stone, and Vogue Korea. And they are the artist with the most youtube subscribers in the world (78,5 million) surpassing Justin Bieber in September 2021. they collaborated with Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Lisa x DJ Snake, Jennie will be starring in The Weekend's The Idol, Ariana Grande has produced their collab with Selena Gomez. 2 out of 4 of them can speak English fluently, Lisa can speak well but her capital is quite low, Jisoo can understand people talking but because of her weak pronunciation, she is very shy to speak. All of them can speak Japanese too.

For a long time, I recoiled from manufactured pop - and make no mistake, kpop in general is a well-oiled machine. However it was Blackpink that made me appreciate that pure talent can still shine in such an environment.
I now appreciate a few kpop acts and have a more open mind thanks to these girls and their producer T.
Living for these reactions, I also recommend trying out their rookie songs as well.
FINALLY! So glad you’ve gotten to BLACKPINK! Honestly, you could listen to just about anything & you’ll be in “awe”. The order I normally tell people is Boombayah, DDU-DU DDU-DU, Kill This Love, & then the two you just did, if you want to listen to them & hear their progression in music. Obviously, there’s a TON in between, but I’d say those three with the two you’ve listened to are the ones that caught EVERYONE across the world! (Honorable mentions: As If It’s Your Last & Whistle).
Also, definitely check out the girls solo M/V & Songs. They’re really good! I’ve personally only heard Jennie‘s & Lisa’s music.

The kpop rabbit hole is deep and full of surprises.
In this video, there's the Greek mythology theme. In the beginning, Persephone is going down to Hades (buried surrounded with flowers as she sinks downward. The different seasons is when she returns back to earth each year... Lisa's yellow glove is the glove for the bird, seen earlier in her rapping in the side street or village street. Jisoo in red in the dark - is sitting on a spider bone chair (references mythology), etc...
I am from Singapore and my favourite girl group since 2017 is Blackpink. Never waver.
My favourite all time singer is Sohyang, also from South Korea. Check out any of her performances from Immortal Song 2. Guaranteed goosebumps and be in awe.

Blackpink is all about diversity. Embracing differences and many cultures and creating this synergetic diverse piece of art. BP literally created their own genre. The lyrics are much much much deeper than they seem.

It is super cool that you picked up Blackpink one of my all time favourites. I love these girls because they are really international oriented with different nationalities. I started listening to kpop back in 2020 and Blackpink Everglow and Itzy are the groups that I absolutely love. I would really recommend to react to Everglow Dun Dun Dun or Salute. I myself am from the Netherlands so I like the English mixed with Korean because it gives some extra spice to the song.
They are contemporary all-around entertainers. It's just dancing or singing. Ultimately, each of them drives several industries.

I highly recommend Stray Kids if you wanna check out more KPOP! They are a boy group that consists of 8 members. They can all rap, sing and dance. They also produce their own songs! I'd recommend "Thunderous". It's the song that got me into them! It has a lot of traditional Korean elements and is so fun to listen to! There's also "God's Menu" which was the song that launched their popularity. It came out in 2020 but it still hits really hard to this day. Especially live!
