It's a sadder world without John Renbourn. Rest in peace. I was fortunate to see these two fine musicians together in a small club in 1987, when I fancied myself as a budding guitarist. Grossman was quite impressive, but I could watch his hands and follow his blues-based playing fairly well. But Renbourn? I left convinced he was performing some kind of superhuman wizardry.
These two were my heroes in 1968 - SG came twice to the Manchester College of Commerce folk club in Aytoun St with the most battered guitar case I ever saw. A great club - Billy Connolly also fetched up there as half of the Humblebums before anyone had ever heard of him and had us all in total stitches with his asides between numbers. And jamming in someone's bedroom after a party I even got congratulated by Gordon Giltrap on my Angie. Happy days.
Exelent preformance. It's hard to find crafters of guitar like this these days.Sad most of the grate's like this are no more.Sojust enjoy what was done in th past.
Refreshing indeed, so glad there's no slapping and banging. Always lifts my spirit levels! Watch it time and time again, mesmerized. 'My Old Hen' never sounded so good!
Got to see them at the Child Hearld in DC probably 79 or 80. What a treat. Ralph McTell opened, they each played a solo set then the two of them did a set together that was amazing. Thanks for posting.

Stefan Grossman is a master on guitar but John Renbourn is magical. I never tire of listening to him. Thank you.

The most brilliant guitar duet ever for me.
Really love those guy's!
Excellent. Saw them in Oldham, England in 1987.

Some Yankee descendant of Jaques d' Henne agrees.

Stefan Grossman - Minack Theatre Cornwall 1968. Well worth the few groats spent on the concert.
Two masters at work. Fantastic !
brilliant, impeccable playing. I will listen to this continuously, until it is forever ingrained into my (un)conciousness
They both blow me away. Creative fellows indeed!
When every performance is also a 'clinic'.
👍👍🏆
The album containing that song is an acoustic guitar masterpiece
It was on the first Grossman Renbourn duet album from 1978 called.....didn’t have a title. Sometimes referred to as Snap a Little Owl
Stunning
Brilliant & refreshing music from these old masters.. Aloha ~
Yes. Yes. Very nice indeed. Thanks
harmony through diversity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can now see why JR looked up to SG. Great post!

Very Beautiful. I enjoyed it. Thank You:))
BRAVO
Simply epic
This performance has to be much older than 2011. Judging by their looks, I would say early to mid 1990s.
It was uploaded to youtube in 2011, no one claims it was recorded in 2011.
Damn Stefan can play single note blues like a champ, too.
最高❗️
Folk Rocks!
If Stefan had taken up electric instead of acoustic, he would have given Page, Beck and Clapton a run for their money.
Not unlike Clapton's acoustic style.
Sexy alchemical noises
☝️😎
It's far too busy, it's a load of self indulgence.
I bought the record.
Agreed
😂😂😂
I bet you'd buy a ticket too, if only we had that opportunity!
I sure would.
Sounds like whipping post
pinch harmonics, no less! where did Grossman get mad flat picking skills?
