Gotta love a flashback episode :) Leonard getting a pedicure while retelling the story, and Sheldon being so bare bones that Leonard had to be the one to introduce the couch and Sheldon's spot is so fun. There's a great attention to details mentioned earlier in the series, such as the cross-dressing former owner of Penny's apartment and Joyce Kim (though the elevator is an iffy detail, you're right) I do remember there was a trend towards long hair for men in the early-mid 2000s (as evidenced by 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire),and this episode takes place in 2003. But the guys have always been fairly out of fashion - Raj in particular was likely still getting used to American customs, so he gets a pass. I also wonder if Howard straightens his hair, or if he happened to get a perm at the time of the flashback.
I cant believe that in all those years ive been watching this episode, I never noticed Raj was eating the oreos. I thought it was just funny that Howards mom wanted to take a bath with oreos :))
Definitely one of my favorites. This episode showed how real Sheldon was. He saved Leonard's life and didn't tell on Leonard, which is rare for one because Sheldon is known for being a snitch and not good at secret keeping. So for him to not tell on Leonard with something serious like that is pretty cool on his part. Same with Howard with the Mars Rover incident, didn't rat him out on that either. That's why I say people should lighten up on Sheldon, I know he's annoying but it's only because he has Asperger's Syndrome.
It’s confirmed he does not have it in show. But in reality, he does have the symptoms of it. The writers should really have just written him with it since he shows most, if not all, the symptoms. Personally, I don’t think they should. I get he never means to be an ass, but he is one, and no one should really have to take it quietly just because someone has something like asperger’s. His few good moments don’t really negate the fact that most of the time he’s really an ass most of the time. But that’s why they’re still friends with him. Cause they know how he is.

Sheldon is to be prefered over very charming people that hide their true crazy, I once rented by one such who was very charming and nice at first, then he started having delusions about me moving his toilet paper.. ended up with him tking stranglehold at my against the wall when I told him that he was acting crazy, apparently the word "crazy" was a touchy subject for him, he held me prisoner in the apartment til I was able to sneak out and call friends to come help me move out By the time they arrived the crazy dude had forgotten that anything had happened and wondered why I was packing
Until this episode I couldn't understand Leonard's tolerance of Sheldon. Preventing a federal prison stint is pretty strong reason, but saving you from a dirt nap is a lifetime debt of tolerance. You seem to have stumbled onto BBT'S secret weapon. Kaley Cuoco's great facial expression. She can be funny without even saying anything or like a great spice just add to the joke with a certain look. She's wonderful. I've said this in past comments and you mentioned it in your reaction. You have to overlook some issues.... continuity issue and others and just enjoy the humor. That Howard wouldn't know WHY the elevator is broken makes no sense. The season finale is FUN and a great set up for the show's future direction.

For the Record, Babylon 5 is an AMAZING scifi show and Shelden doesn't know what he is missing. It's right up there with the Expanse and Battle Star Galactica in the Pantheon of top tier science fiction. You would actually enjoy watching it and reacting to it, it's on HBO Max right now.
Some time in the 1990s when I was still active in Mensa, I got an invitation to a Ground Hog Day Party. I'd never met any of the other people (not unusual). The first thing I noticed was that the front room was damn near as barren as Sheldon's in this episode. It was really Ground Hog Day, where we all watched a video of the Bill Murray movie and attacked Costco-sized portions of tortilla chips and dip.Our host was a programmer who spent most of his time writing compression code to cram the maximum performance from the minimum RAM for PC video games. He had a workstation with a glass-topped desk with the monitor (still CRT) mounted below the glass. I got to meet my first transgender at the party. She (formerly he) was working for Apple

fun fact. you can see apartment flag in previous episodes on fridge and it is upside down when there is distress in apartment. their attention to details is amazing but yea elevator was retconned also they mean 73 degrees Farenheit its only 22degrees Celsius
