I am always amazed at the incredible power and performance you can get out of this bow, which is (only) made entirely of natural materials. The bow is extremely light, it looks thin and almost rickety and yet there is so much power in it. Absolutely great and a very good job from this brilliant bow maker.

Water buffalo horns are not native to Korea, so there are several bows made of native bulls or deer horns in Korea. The weakness of Korean bows is the glue made from the gills of a sea fish Brown croaker, which is weak against moisture. So I always keep it in a place without moisture, and then I supplemented it with a fish shell so that it can be used in summer. Cow horns native to Korea are short in length, so they are made of glue called glue made by collecting cow tendons and oils, which can be used both in summer and winter, but are weaker than those made of buffalo(bubalis) horns.
Hats off to you...that is a perfect example of a Gak Gung...I also make hornbows and had a go at making a Korean bow a few years ago. I got the taper rate on the core incorrect and that bow is just a wall hanger...however watching this I can sense another attempt coming. Very impressive bow and the comment section shows how well you did.

A long time ago (maybe before the Roman era), warriors and shamans migrated from Central Asia near the Caspian Sea to the Korean Peninsula and its surrounding areas, and they became an indispensable part of Korean origin. It was revealed in the 21st century through relic investigation and DNA comparison. For this reason, Korea's unique bow may have similarities to scythian 's bow.
Prior to DNA comparisons, per Chinese history book, Joseon was an ally of Xiongnu Confederation. There is another record of faction of Xiongnu origin (multi ethnic, didn't specify which) migrated to southern Korean peninsula during around Qin Dynasty. And as per DNA & archaeological findings, we can see people from Caspian Sea to Korean peninsula did tradings, travel, sharing cultures, intermarriages, etc. No wonder China locked themselves with the Great Wall to prevent attacks from northerners.

Some of the early examples of sinew backed horn bows were made with stone tools. Which i find amazing.
