Gods, this book was such a slog to get through. I know there are people out there who just love it, and for the life if me, I can't figure out why. Please do part 4, we can't end it on this one. Personally, though I've discovered it's an unpopular opinion, I very much enjoyed Tale of the Body Thief - significantly more than Memnoch the Devil.
I love it because of the different take Anne Rice had on the devil and God. I found the lore and conversations Lestat has with them sooo interesting. I did find the Dora side story kinda boring though and it does take a while to get past the beginning and on to the good parts.
I agree with you I think at this point Annie had went quite crazy with her Christian bullshit. Her first books seemed so coherent so fluid so immersive but then here comes memknock the devil and it's like what the fuck..... 😂
@@heatherracho I think that's being a little harsh, but it was extremely evident that this was around the time she rediscovered Catholicism and started getting back into religion. She's talked about it in depth, how she went from growing up very religious, becoming agnostic/atheist, and then turning back to Christianity. When she went really heavy into religion is when she started writing her Jesus series (Into Egypt), stating that The Vampire Chronicles were done...but then ended up coming back to them a few years later 😂 I think it's actually kind of interesting how you can see her personal changes in her writing...more interesting than this novel 😩
My God, that was tough to sit through. Not because the video itself was bad (far from it), but because the plot of Memnoch is just so damn dull. The entire tone of the book is off and it doesn't feel like it's at all linked to the books that came before it. Like bad fanfiction it's gone off on a tangent and you don't want to know, but you want to keep going in the hopes that it'll all circle back around to the good stuff you've seen before. Having said all that, please do a part 4! I'm really enjoying this series you're doing, it's great stuff!

Ugh😫 It's crazy how much I relate to Lestat I honestly feel so understood reading his story and I genuinely feel such longing for more works like the works of Anne Rice. Absolutely marvelous, there are no words to describe the meaning her books have given to me. Thank you, Vampire Folklore.🙏 Honestly I've been dying to get these books and haven't yet but hearing you tell them brings me an intrinsic joy that I don't often feel. God bless you🤗

Pretty sure Anne’s changes in her writings such as including more religious themes stems from the fact that she went from being a catholic to an atheist then returning back to her faith. In an interview she did for Newsweek in 2005 she said that from then on she would use her writings to glorify her belief in god. Although, Memnoch the Devil was written prior to that statement it’s still highly likely her feelings towards religion were starting to evolve leading to the inclusion of more religious elements.
I’m up for it!!!! I know I’ve already read Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned. But it’s really gonna take me a while to get through with the books too myself, since Anne Rice have left so much to us, the fans. Yet I do fear that there was couple of books that would have some conclusions to finish. Well, one of them: The Wolf Gift books. Since I read both of them, I did always hope she done one more as a send off and see the characters move on to the unknown. Sadly, it’s the only thing I won’t know, but still happy that she still finish one last book with her son and been gone for 2 years already.
Same time seems to have flown from 2012 to 2023 😮yet I remember it vividly, I'd feel a little sad reading it now because I was in a much better state of health and great times but will anyway since I've started from the beginning now and can't wait to relive some of the books again with this incredible character

What happened to the events of tale of a body thief? Part 2 ended with returning to NO to find Louis. I clicked 3 and it started with memnoch the devil. I clicked back into 2 and rechecked the end and there was no mention of the tale of the body thief. Did I miss something?
Q: why did you completely skip tale of a body thief ??? I figured you were kind of going in order but you completely left it out I think it's a wonderful story I have all of the books I even have the comics which are very rare you can find some of them online but not the whole collection maybe someday I will be gracious enough to upload them all for people to enjoy.
A neat vid. In rl some people think God and Jesus r seperate characters, but some think they're the same, that God but himself inside the virgin Mary so he could b more "connected" to us. VC seems to use that one. Prohaps vids on the characters, God and Memnoch should b made. Even about Angels in VCverse too.

Yeah, as i said at the start of the video, memnoch isnt my favourite book. David Talbot was a member of the TALESMASCA.. He became friends with Lestat at the end of QOTD leading into the Tale Of The Body Thief

Again, maybe I missed where you talked about him in part 1 or 2? But for me, I spent the first part of the video wondering if you were talking about Daniel (reporter from IWTV), and calling him David by mistake. Same could be said for Roger. I know its my fault for never reading the books. But a small character bio would be helpful when introducing new characters in your videos (if they will be major characters in said video). I'm sure a lot of ppl watching the video, never read the books. Not trying to throw shade, at all. I hope you dont take it that way. I do really enjoy your videos.
Good and evil. I kind of like this book. Yes the plot is boring but again for us that grew up religious we were already told vampires etc are demons but as someone who stepped away from church idk indirectly this kind of made me smile bc he spoke to some of those parts of me that wonders about heaven and hell…in a weird way 😊
I totally agree....this one was a hard read because of the religious nature. Don't get me wrong, I totally bought it as soon as it came out and devoured it, but it was seriously deep in religion.
