Lestats betrayal in Paris was framed by Armand if you read the vampire Lestat. He was there for blood from Armand to be healed. He didn't know they were there till Armand told him and then Armand starved him and told him he would give him blood if he said what Armand wanted him to say.
OMG, all that and I realize I never finished my thought about Madeleine: she was a woman in Paris who had lost her child, so she wanted to become Claudia's mother because Claudia was an immortal child who wouldn't die.
Love the breakdown of all the versions!! She’s such a fascinating character. Claudia’s first kill in the show I think really showcased her using her youth as an advantage in hunting. She stands in a marble gazebo humming a innocent tune and a constable comes walking up to her to ask where her parents are then she attacks. I don’t think they will ever blurr a romantic line with claudia and louis in the show. They have really driven home the point that she is Louis’s daughter right down to her calling him daddy lou.
Agree that they’ve steered well clear of romanticizing the relationship between Claudia and Louis. Interested to see how they show her turn on Lestat (assuming they keep that plot point; they could always tweak). I think this Claudia is more hyper-at least at the start-which makes sense for an adolescent. As she ages without aging-that will be a potential showcase for the actress as the character shifts over time; I think she’s brilliant so far.
@@mplbooks I’m on pins and needles waiting to see how they get us to the major plot points. There’s a teaser video on twitter of them each announcing their names and respective ages. In the clip Claudia is 36, louis 60 and lestat 180. As the time has passed all their voices, accents have changed but Claudia is most noticeable, she comes off very mature and her mannerisms are more polished.
@@mplbooks also Did you notice that the Diary entry Daniel first stopped on with the dead rose in between it’s pages was not Claudia writing anymore but was Lestat!!!!! If you pause it at that moment you’ll see that entire entry word for word is this passage from Vampire Lestat, “And I stood staring at her, staring at her dark broken body against the whiteness of the snow, the dead hindquarters and the struggling forelegs, the nose lifted skyward, ears pressed back, and the huge innocent eyes rolling up into her head as the rattling cry came out of her. She was like an insect half mashed into a floor, but she was no insect. She was my struggling, suffering mare. She tried to lift herself again. I took my rifle from the saddle. I loaded it. And as she lay tossing her head, trying vainly to lift herself once more with that shrill trumpeting, I shot her through the heart” Not sure if it’s just a easter egg of a legit clue to what is to come. If it’s meant to be a hint then It looks like after things go bad Lestat eventually writes his story in Claudia’s leftover diaries for Louis to find and leaves the rose as a sign of his love. So the thinking is Louis finds that diary hears Lestat’s full story and changes his perspective prompting the second more nuanced interview.
Yes, I did notice it was the passage from when Lestat killed the wolves and wondered how they plan to use it. It would make a good segue to a second season if they plan to do Lestat’s story next.
