@@yawgmoth5662 Isn't meth neurotoxic to your dopamine receptors? Taking that shit will basically give you ADD in the long run. Why take meth if you can take real amphetamines instead?
Ezra Ionescu this is speaking as someone that’s been hooked on dope and pills that Rx speed and street speed are identical, only difference being that prescription stuff is far stronger and as a result far more dangerous to abuse. The only real discernible difference is duration but honestly, given the time release mechanism in most prescription pills a couple adderall, vyvanse, or Ritalin will have you tweaked for way longer than a couple lines or a hit off a pipe. I remember the one time I took vyvanse, I was geeked for like 20 hours straight but if I want that same reaction from meth I’d need to suck down line after line or just risk overdosing by dropping a fat rock into a cup of coffee. TL;DR it’s all the same, and it’s all poison. There’s a reason it’s a meme, not even once.
Marvin Nash yes and no. Like I tell people, I had tried dope a few times in high school and it never did anything noticeable. It wasn’t until I had tried adderall as an adult that I became hooked. And believe me that first time was all it took. That’s the thing that people don’t get is addiction is almost entirely mental, physical withdrawals suck ass but they’re not what compel people to relapse, especially with amphetamines and other stimulants. The worst withdrawals I’ve ever experienced were from benzodiazepines, opioids, and alcohol but I can pick those up and put them down at will. The one drug that claws at my brain everyday, the one thing I dream about when I go to sleep at night, speed, and the closest thing I get to a withdrawal symptom is being sleepy, maybe some irritability. Be it meth, adderall, vyvanse, or Ritalin, all of it will get ya if you let it. RGkong considering when Hank interrogates the girl later she describes him as dreamy, it was definitely Vince’s intention. Jesse was really turning on the charm here to manipulate her.
Jesse is behaving seductively toward this young woman, and leading her to believe that it's her feminine charm that is creating this contentedly - almost romantically - pensive mood of his. Jesse is smarter than Walt has been giving him credit for, and he's also even more so, emotionally adept; Jesse knows how to summon this lovestruck aura from within himself, and then he simply lets this young woman see it; rather than making the mistake of pretending to be smitten by her and then *showing* this *act* to her, which is just what a con artist would do. Young though she is, the woman would probably sense the con, and be put off. (Jesse must have taken a page from George "it's not a lie if you believe it" Costanza). Also, Jesse guesses, probably rightly, that this young woman was raised carefully, and isn't accustomed to openly flirting with strange men. Outrageous flirting on his part, he concludes, would probably make a vulnerable young woman, strictly brought up, feel uncomfortable, which is the opposite to the effect he wants to have on her. So, Jesse acts all dreamy, instead, which is both flattering and non-threatening. And he has her eating out of his hand. It's perfect. Jesse is another Olivier with women. As for the director showing us lingering shots of Jesse's pretty eyes, the director wants us to feel something of the effect that Jesse's pretty eyes are having on this woman, so that we understand why she's willing to buy the contraband drug from him in trade, (something she almost certainly wouldn't ordinarily do), and why Hank has much to do to persuade her to rat Jesse out in the later scene.
