    Thanks Justin! The explosive arm strength is quite notable in just a month and a half of doing everything in this video and your other arm strength video, 2-3 times a week in an outdoor racket ball court. Each session is about 30-45mins followed by icing everything down.
    As a mid 30s year old, my arm has been shot for about 4-5 years from playing softball. I had bad tennis elbow. And my shoulder would feel dead after one or two strong throws. Finally, I did all physical therapy stuff for both the elbow and shoulder. But I still had no arm strength. My team would joke about my arm strength- “you only play left field because of your glove and speed.” I gave my self the excuse for years about the pain and just being old. I came across your videos and I decided, it’s either get better or move to 2nd base.
    I strongly encourage you to do building arm strength when coming back from injury series of videos. Some things that really helped me: 1 cross frictional rubs. 2. Extremely low weight as in a can of beans weights. (I’m now up to 2lbs. !!!!) 3. Getting back to the basics with proper mechanics (could you do a video on this with a softball for old guys like me!?) 4. Your arm strength videos. 5. Resting the arm.
    Thanks again. I really went from thinking my playing days were close to being over. To now, playing as good as my high school days and have many more years ahead of me.

    A torn rotator cuff ended my baseball in college. I now coach young players and try to study the game for the kids. Justin's videos have become some of my go to videos for drills and advice. This by far is one of my favorites. My goal is to keep the kids healthy by not over using and learning good mechanics. Good job. keep them coming.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The reason I didn't give any numbers is because I'm a firm believer in LISTENING to your arm. Some days it might feel great, other days it might feel terrible. You have to listen to it and go from there.

    honest opinion... in 4 months of consistent training, is 40-80mph feasible??

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, a 40-mph increase is unheard of. Realistically you can probably expect to gain 5-10mph if you're on a great program. That being said, if you're only throwing 40 right now that means you have lots of time to grow and mature. You will get to 80 one day! Just keep working hard. It doesn't have to be in the next 4 months. Trust the process.

    Im a bit confused about on whats going on with my arm strength cause some days ill be able to throw from foul pole to foul pole but somedays i won't be able to throw that far what am i doing wrong?

    • @spencedeezy
      @spencedeezy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re doing nothing wrong bro it’s about a balance of rest and 100% effort. Your arm won’t be at full strength every day but keep pushing yourself on the days that your arm feels good enough to throw long toss. If you can do 4 days a week without pain you should be doing that during season.

    This video seems to be more for outfielders/infielders.. I'm a pitcher in independent pro baseball, some of these things I don't do. It's more weighted ball stuff in the offseason, thurobands before and after throwing, lots of stretching, lots of hip opening & shoulder+chest opening yoga, and lots and lots of agilities, conditioning is key for pitcher, if you don't condition yourself throughout your body and your arm, you will not stay healthy. Hopefully this helps the pitchers, this stuff is even good for any other position.

    "Turn and Burn" does nothing but force you to fly out with your front shoulder, ultimately leading to LOSS of velocity when on the bump

    • @DoubleXCanFlex
      @DoubleXCanFlex 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      seen many players gain velocity from turn and burns. What feels weird for one person may feel great for another

  • @mrfrank2324

    amazing how in 2016 we are still teaching "the arm" rather than teaching to be explosive through the legs through mobility, weight training and plyometrics. If this got you to 90 MPH everyone would do it. The arm is just along for the ride, the veto is coming from leg power and hip to shoulder separation. Teach that, not more throwing.

    • @2jzxjv848
      @2jzxjv848 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      hes done videos on the whole hip explosion movements for throws

    • @mrfrank2324
      @mrfrank2324 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're not going to get much out of that from throws, you need to get in the weight room and train like an athlete

    • @antonioc3913
      @antonioc3913 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool story bro

    • @gregd166
      @gregd166 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This drill incorporates everything you're talking about. In both drills, he generates momentum and force from the legs up through the core and shoulder rotation into each throw. He's not just "arming" it as you seem to be suggesting. He even incorporates explosive medicine ball throws into this throwing workout. I don't see what your problem is with this; it's just one drill. No doubt proper weight and plyometric training has its place in any athlete's training plan, but ultimately sport-specific work, which is exactly what this drill is, is what makes one better in his/her chosen sport.

    • @mrfrank2324
      @mrfrank2324 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you're not going to develop 90 mph power from throwing even if you're using your legs. you need to get in the weight room

    Can you do these every single day ?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't do them every single day. Long toss can be done about 3-4x per week. Rotator cuff exercises can be done daily, but I'd let your arm rest a little after long and strenuous throwing sessions.

    Dude, I went to look for a pitching tip to throw tennis balls at my dog and I found you, it's already the 5th video I watch. You are very good at what you are teaching, really.
    I'm from Brazil, I do not speak English very well but I really enjoyed the tips and I'm seriously thinking about training harder.
    I seriously believe that if you invest a little more on that channel, like, good camera, good microphone, and a bit of editing to make the videos more dynamic, you know? In the internet rhythm ... You have everything to have a great channel here.
    Anyway, thanks for the tips! Really made a significant difference to me.
