This was my father's train set from when I was very little. I spent years hunting this set down. I found it NEW in the original box from Trainz! I really enjoyed the video.
trainz are excellent to deal with, great customer service. this set was brand new also and i scoffed it up as soon as i saw it. thank you for watching
Awesome Overview of the set.👍👍👍
thank you for watching
Tom, I have never seen this set….but it is really nice! Really enjoyed this video, and will look for this set. Thank you as always for sharing!
i honestly had no idea how many different sets General Mills put out, but it looks like a ton of them. a lot of the rolling stock didn’t vary much from set to set, but the motive power and some accessories did. thank you for watching
I have that same Jersey Central steam engine and tender. I also have a spare tender, these engines are very good pullers with their small but powerful MPC motors. Thank You for sharing this and as always Happy Railroading!!!
thank you for sharing and watching! it appears that MPC used a lot of the same equipment in different sets?
Yes they did but the good thing about that is that there is more of these engines and cars available to run and collect. Again Happy Railroading and Thank You for sharing this!!! I love the MPC era it is my favorite era of Lionel production!! MPC Matt.
I had a Black River Freight set. Got it for Christmas, I was 2d or 3d grade I think. I thought the steam loco meant 1800's cowboys and indians. I think a brother or sister got married and took it for their kids late 80's or early 90's. I didn't care, I never liked it much. I never saw or heard of the Johnny Cash ads til about 6 months ago, I wonder if that influenced my Dad to get it for me. I found one on ebay and got it out of nostalgia sake and it was pretty much brand new! I couldn't believe it! All the plastic accessories still in bags, the cardboard buildings were still flat, unfolded. Box was worn but ran great. But I like the 60's and 70's diesel era. And to the point I love the MPC stuff, those red boxes with the white logo, those multicolored boxes with all the photos. Greatness. Just a train... not a space shuttle. Transformer plugs into the wall, the tubular track, no need for a computer, smart phone, remote. Work on it yourself. I love it. Old skool - best skool.
i’m not a big fan of all the gadgetry myself. i got some used tmcc stuff for christmas . i’m experimenting with it, but some of it is a head scratcher. it’s 30 years old, nowhere near cutting edge, but it’s kind of neat. i’m looking forward to playing trains with grand kids. thank you for watching
I have several TMCC and Legacy locomotives, but I run them conventionally. They do well that way.
That looks nice
thank you
I must also note 3 things: the pilot ie: steamchest is plastic, the motor is not a can motor but an Lionel MPC Pullmor motor, and the better steamers for instance the 2-4-2 and 4-4-2 steamers all came with the rubber traction tires whether they had diecast boiler shells or plastic ones. I hope that this helps to clarify some things and as always Happy Railroading!!! Sincerely, MPC Matt.
thank you! there’s a lot for me to learn and i appreciate your knowledge
Very happy to help you out Tom and Thanks again for sharing this video. MPC Matt.
Lionels sound of steam, Lionel has figured out how a baby rattler works
haha. yes it sounds just like that I agree
Marx guy here, grain merchants know little about marketing toys. Proven by General Mills with Lionel and Quaker Oats with Marx Trains.
you are absolutely right. thank you for watching
