Neumann u89i - Reading Dear Playboy Advisor - The Microphone Playboy Podcast

I found this old copy of "Dear Playboy Advisor" published back in 2006, and I thought we could read from it through the Neumann u89i while we do a little listening lab work to check out the mic that was supposed to replace the u87. Plus, I'll tell you my Playboy Magazine story and why they put me in the August 2006 issue.

Hi Mark, I've never used an 89 before, my daily recorder is a U87. the 89 sounds quite middy, I would like to cut out the mud, but I quite like the top end. A 87/89 comparison would be interesting. Thanks for vid.

The mid-notch on the 89 is something they put in to help defeat sibilance and that resonant honk some vocalists experience, but the good news is that the 89 takes EQ incredibly well and its sound can be contoured easily. So yes, there will be a head to head coming.
