Hey Merlin family friends and fans alike, I like the fact that if a friend asks you for a helping hand, your their no questions asked other than what kinda vehicle do we need, but you don't worry about gas, diesel, vehicle maintenance nothing just a Big Yes, your no different than I I've spent the entire summer working on others machines than my own, but that's the way it is in life, thanks for sharing, your a true, friend and good mechanic
Good video Merlin and so nice of you to pull your dear friends trailer up to where he needed it! Lot's of amazing vehicles at the show and the Fab Rats team too!
I left Northern California 97. To Springfield Missouri. When I left I was driving a brand new 96 conventional Freightliner with a cat. Didn't want to drive truck for a while. But my wife's brother convinced pulling the end dump. Truck was a old KW. Truck had to be from the late 60s with the old Detroit in it.. 265 318 model. I would go for a Springfield Missouri to Kansas City Missouri to get sand. What's the way back roads. What languages echo everywhere. It is more oil than fuel good thing I had a 13-speed in it. Once you got going it pulled good. How to organize lived out in the middle of nowhere in a corn ranch. He could hear me a couple miles away getting close can't stand outside and put his hand to his ear. I broke down one time right in front of his driveway. And he told me how he'd love that sound that old Detroit came out to help me I blew an airline. I got it fixed. My brother-in-law finally got rid of that truck. My ears would. 🤜🏽💥🤛🏽🫱🏽🫲🏽😎🪶. Good luck Merlin with yours.
Pete is a mechanical wizard and so humble. I think he was a little emotional winning best of show. I bet he and Harry had some interesting adventures. I’ve never owned a diesel but you are getting me intrigued. Have you ever seen one in a 54 Chevy 2 Door sedan? If I do one it might as well be unique. Merlin you are the best. Thank you for taking us along
My husband and I had a 53 Galion Detroit motor grader. We bought it in 1992. It was a little work horse you could hear it from a mile away. Great memories ❤❤❤
Love it when you come out with a Wednesday video what an awesome show that was. Thanks for sharing. Man, it’s been a minute since I’ve saw a Union 76 ball on an antenna Very cool.
Merlin thank you so much for interviewing the Diamond T for us. That was awesome and I thought that it was not going to happen. What a truck! Harry Wolfley, an amazing person. Cheers Cape town 🇿🇦🇺🇲🇺🇲
Love a Detroit. Link Belt line machines skidding logs can be heard for miles back in the day. When I can hear one now, I sit and listen to the "go" whistles and if lucky watch the drag go up the mountain from across the canyon. I think about the 66 Ford 4x4 flatbed with a Detroit in it since the early 70's and can still hear it in my mind when he'd leave the bar. I last saw it in 82 or so. Diesel conversion before it was a thing.
Thanks for taking us subscribers along for the ride. Love the channel. Keep up the great work. Absolutely loved this content. My family has a 51 Henry J drag car that my uncle ran at bunker hill drag strip in northern indiana,he was A/Gas champ 1968,69,70. And he ran about 10 seconds in the quarter mile. My cousin has the car now. It still has a springer front end an a push bar on the back of it. So I can relate to your video. I had spent many a nights, with a blanket an pillow on a hood of a car at the drag strip. ✌️👍🤙🤙🍀🍀🍀🍀🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🪄🪄🤭😝😃😋🤗❤️.
Thanks for another great video Merlin. What a shame that nice red Dodge at the beginning of the video wasn't quite the same at the end. Them' the breaks.
Really enjoyed this video. My first big truck I drove was a V-6 Detroit in a 86 359. Loved the 76 on your antenna. Those Truck Stops where everywhere when I started trucking. Miss those days. I'm letting go one of my dream projects this Friday. I have a 1981 extended hood A model Kenworth and those are hard to find. I'm letting a good friend from Missouri take it. Might have to put it on video.
Hey Merlin, I am not a fan of diesel noise, the smell of diesel fuel or the nasty black smoke, but that was a really great adventure with a lot of amazing old trucks. I have sit behind or on top of that screamin 6 banger, the old cumins 350, and the Cat 3408. But the engine I liked most was the 8V92 Detroit. I drove semis for ten years all over the USA and into Canada a couple times. One thing I really enjoyed many times was the south bound drive through the Virgin River Gorge. It's been over 40 years since my last trip through the Gorge. I thank you for that view.
Randy will not be doing any towing for me. WOW they put all that money and shine into a dud. WOW, they did not seem to test this after they built it it seems...
Always good to spend time with you, Merlin! Thank you for your continued support.
Merlin is the man ! But don't tell him that lol..
Love the sound of a old Detroit. Thanks Merlin for the ride along. God Bless
GREAT stories like this should be more common on the internet, to inspire our younger generation. THANK YOU!

Beautiful truck. I have permanent hearing loss from a straight piped Detroit in a Freightliner FLD.
I love the sound of a Detroit. They are loud and messy but a lot of power

Getting old sucks.
Let the man speak about his own truck you're doing an interview and all we do is hear your mouth going shut up and let them talk
