You're not mean enough. Example: there are a lot of people submitting songs who appear to be fans of the channel, but they submit music with all the elements of having been roasted countless times already? Yeah, no: roast 'em some more.
It's more mean to allow people to think they're good and then to go on a stage and get booed off. Gotta be cruel to be kind.

I think, IMO, Sail To Saturn had a lot of good ideas, but they were arranged in a way that just didn't work. Ironically, I think some heavier guitar riffs during that chorus might have helped it stand out a bit. It'd contrast the lighter verses a lot. Of course, only if it's done tastefully.
Am I the only one who felt like the major key instrumental song sounded like a sonic the hedgehog stage music?

I really liked it as well, guy has a great voice but you have to admit the chorus payoff just wasn't enough with those excellent verse builds....the chorus was nice but not in this song IMO.
The dude had such a good voice. It was so good up to a certain point and the chorus just kinda limped through. The verse was so good and it really needed a chorus that did it justice, it just didnt happen.
I really liked this song too, I found the chorus suitable to the song

Sleep alt, i highly recommend u listen to some shinedown. And i hate shinedown. I was at work listening keeping myself from screaming "DROP IT ON THE OOOONE! GOSH DANGIT MAN ITS RT THERE! JUMP TO A BELT ON THE FIFTH BUT ON BEAT 1! We can sail to planet if we (1)TRYYYYYYYY" just sounded like where those vox should be going to me.really good till then. Tho i think the chorus chould use some more texture instrumentally. Synth arps or heavy guitar pads. Something.
That instrumental song at the beginning was like listening to an extended intro to full metal alchemist in early 2003.
Definitely got 90’s/00’s anime vibes.
It reminded me of Stan Bush style stuff from '80's action movies. Either way I was digging it.

I dug the "Make the Rainbows Hit the Ground" song. I don't listen to much power metal, but I hear some symphonic black metal in there too which is cool. It reminds me of Wintersun and Dimmu Borgir. I'm not sure how I feel about the chorus, it's decent but it sounds like a different song, maybe it's because the drums and guitars give off a half-time vibe.
Instrumental gives me biggg 5-HTP vibes by Intervals

About Duke Nukem.
By the time Apogee was ready to release Version 2 of their Duke Nukem game, the company was aware of Captain Planet and had concerns that the “Duke Nukem” trademark may have already been registered. In a (half hearted) attempt to avoid a lawsuit, Apogee changed the name of Duke Nukem to “Duke Nukum” prior to release (notice the E\U change in spelling). Later, after realizing that Ted Turner had not registered the “Duke Nukem” mark, Apogee changed the name of the game back - and registered the trademark themselves. There was no lawsuit because Turner didn't care to trademark the name and there was no way Appogee was going to sue Turner over their now trademarked name since it could be clearly shown Turner had used the name first and also Apogee was a fairly small company at the time and wouldn't have wanted the legal expense of this trademark issue they lucked out on getting in the first pkace.

If you write a song about preparing for battle, it should be the final moments when they close the visor and start swinging. We don't need to visualize a knight doing his laundry and cooking breakfast. That's not the interesting part.

Sail To Saturn was epic, if they only didn’t cuck the drops. It could have been SO much more epic. Ultimately sounded a bit timid which is a shame cuz that verse riff was killer!

Don't repeat your riff, when once will do. Especially if there are stages. You gotta get to the vocals ASAP...and have vocal hooks early in the verses...we can't wait til the chorus before it starts to get good.

Good week! "Make the Rainbows Hit the Ground" wins this batch for me, with "Home" and "Sail to Saturn" tied for a very close second place and then "Knights" right behind them. You gonged that one too soon, Trey - the heavier middle section is pretty cool and the initial melody bookends the song quite nicely. "Space Academy" would be an honourable mention or maybe a far-away 4th place.

That "disappointing" song had a cool sound, but -- and I almost never say this -- needed more chords. 😆 It was like the intro of the Rush song 'Animate' stretched out to feature length.
Chances was a cool idea, but that lead guitar, it just sounded out of tune or intonation or something. Maybe it’s just my ears, I just hear a lot of younger folks that are just starting out that have this issue. If nothing else, tune before every take! It pays off in the end.
The sleep alternative song just missed big on the chorus. Was great up until then. They just left way too much space on the chorus and really needed to go big there.

There's a balance to be achieved between audacity and self-awareness, because you don't want to never put out anything, but also there needs to be a certain level of quality you hold yourself to so idk
@@treyxaviermusic Absolutely, and I feel like the big part is finishing songs, like you always talk about. But there are time when halfway through, I'm like this isn't working. You want to be honest with yourself and your standards but also keep working on things and be bold enough to push through.
