So I unplugged everything in both bedrooms and it does the same thing. I wonder if I have a bad outlet in one of the rooms that's causing the breaker to trip? Because it goes in the bathroom/dining room wall from the crawl space into an outlet.

    Recently I had trouble finding the breaker switch in the panel that feeds electricity to gfci outlet that was not working at all. I replaced it and it works but I still do not know what circuit breaker controls that particular string of gfci controlled outlets. I bought the exact same devise you used in this video and I will do exactly as you showed in the video, kill electricity to the panel before putting tone to the outlet. Thank you very much for your good video. Keep up the good work. My back up thoughts were to plug in a light bulb to the gfci outlet and start turning on and off circuit breaker until the lite turns off and the gfci is working properly. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hi, thanks
    Customer has an outside flood lamp fixture that we can't find the switch for or the fixture was disconnected at some point when an extra bedroom was added to the house.
    There are a couple 3way switches we've located that don't seem to do anything... maybe totally unrelated.
    I screwed a circuit finder into the lamp holder and tested the circuit box and got nothing...
    Is that because the light fixture is "switched off" somewhere and or also the line is just dead?

      Most all outside lites and plugs are on a ground fault circuitwith plug located in a covered box outside near the lites. Check to see if you can find one and check the buttons in the plug to see if it was tripped and engage the other button present on the plug to reset it. This may be your fix.

    • @handymanPF
      @handymanPF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you do not flip off all the breakers then the signal will travel through the leg in the main panel and will give you a signal in every circuit breaker in that leg. So by shutting off the circuit breakers, you are isolating all the breakers in which will help you identify which breaker is giving you the problem. I hope this helps. Plug it in and flip the switch momentarily and the breaker is found. (Only a trained professional should attempt this.) If the house burns down you know that the circuit beaker was defective. Someone stripped my wiring from the attic. They only cut a few wires.
    How can I trace where they came from? I still have the wires they left that they were going to still.

    Mr. Handy,Thank you for helping us.
    My question is:
    Is there any device can works with electricity in the wires?
    Greetings from 🇸🇦

      Yes, If you want to follow a wires path there are many tracers that can be used on a live wire. Something like the Amprobe AT-6010 can be used on either hot or deenergized circuits. If the wiring is functional and you just want to find the breaker there are many breaker locators on the market. I'm not familiar with your countries wiring so can't recommend any in particular.

    What would be some of the common problems of a dwad circuit? Loose wire perhaps?

    Hello , I have an dead outlet in the living room area , one light in the hallway and a dead oultet in the bathroom. the bathroom light works but not the outlet. What are your suggestions to this problem.

    • @mook528
      @mook528 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First thing you want to do is test the line wires to see if there is voltage present. If there is then the device either is bad or had a loose connection.

  • @m.n.3490

    I pulled out an old electric outlet, to replace it with a GFCI.
    I accidentally touched some part of the old outlet while removing it on the metal box, and saw a small spark. (I thought the fuse was out, but maybe I had the wrong fuse out).
    Now, I am reading 14 volts from hot to neutral, and from hot to the metal box(ground). I've pulled every fuse in the panel, and still see 14 volts!
    Note, the outlet was working fine before my accident (although the hot/neutral were reversed).
    What did I do break when that old receptacle sparked? Did I burn/short a wire, or junction? How do I find the problem. I cannot use continuity tests since I have 14 volts present. Help!

      There was no problem with this circuit. It was a demonstration. There are quite a few things that can be wrong with a circuit, not enough time to cover in a short video. But this video will help you in the process of diagnosing the issue. Thanks for watching and commenting.
