LYRICS:
Goodbye brother, hello railroad
So long Chicago
All these years thought I was where I ought to be
But times are changing, this country’s growing
And I’m bound for San Francisco
I’ve lived through more than I can tell
Sold all that I could sell
Finally leaving it behind
Goodbye, farewell
If it isn’t one thing, then it’s one thing more
If it isn’t a fever that shows you the door
It’s the air or the water or a goddamn war
Goodbye brother, hello railroad
So long, Chicago
All these years thought I was where I ought to be
But times are changing, this country’s growing
and I’m bound for San Francisco
Mama died, brother was born
Daddy tried but he came up short
We were hungry, scared, and needed more
How much can a person take?
I been working hard since I was eight
Got more than my share of years upon my face
Brother, I’ve made up my mind
Got a ticket on the Union Line
I know we’ll meet again on the other side
Goodbye brother, hello railroad
So long, Chicago
All these years thought I was where I ought to be
But times are changing, this country’s growing
And I’m bound for San Francisco
Where a new life waits for me
There isn't a better band in the world than I'm With Her. - Chris Thile
Heart strings being plucked... . .🎼
This song never fails to make me tear up. Absolutely gorgeous video! Love from Texas 💙💙💙
The harmonies kill me. Nice job ladies.
Best band around! One of their best songs!
Yes! I have so enjoyed two other phenomenal female Trios formed in the two thousands and I'm with Her has become a favorite. I am a sucker for sweet harmonies & superb acoustic string instrumentals. This is a beautiful, moving song for sure.
My goodness I just love these ladies
Brilliant. Love it.
A thing of great beauty.
love this song
Beautiful.
Stunning song, harmonies and video.
Sara you are amazing!
Such a nice great song or version of some traditional ... also the design of this song is very fine ... Thank you so much for sharing it!
Great video Tobias as ever 👌
Amazing! Greetings from Austria
Uh, doesn't Sara live in LA?
here for a class assignment but i kinda like this song
No songwriting credit. Is this a collaboration or one of Sarah's?
The whole album is collaborative
@@jyutzler and Staggering Jack, I can not after much research find any definitive answer as to who wrote this. If you can reply with the answer, I would appreciate it.
@@m.c.master4622 There are radio performances that include interviews where they discuss the collaborative song-writing process.
@@jyutzler, hi and thanks for the reply. If you have a chance, I would love to listen to any interviews re: above if you know any links. Take care!
Unfortunately I hear singing fals, Wrong. What's this?
I came here for Ms. Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O'Donovan, But this singing is very weak
That's Sara Watkins singing that one, she is a very fine vocalist, not sure why she sounds weak to you. Check out some of her solo stuff, especially from her latest CD, "Young In All the Wrong Ways". "Move Me" from that CD kicks ass!
If you were from Chicago you'd get it.
" I hear singing fals, Wrong." WTF does that mean? It's not coherent English.
At first, I apologize to all of my comments, and if you disagree with my views, it's 100% right.
I am Persian, I have music education on the other side of the planet, age 36. For almost 17 years, I have been following Folk and Country of the United States carefully and with great taste.
I think music in America means real art, only in Folk and the country. Other music has trade and financial affairs, and they are not real art. Of course, in each genre, there is the music of the arts and the taste of the same, and it can not be denied.
I agree with Harmony in the direction of Choir part. Concerning that I'm not in Chicago, and I can not understand this music, I agree, I'm sure In some parts, the lead singer is singing out of tune .
For example: 00:44 to 00:50
At the end I apologize for any inconvenience to my comments.
If I miss a spelling or do not know English, go through it, because I have not been born in your country.
You are right.
