    I've been considering one of these for my original GI Joe to ride around in - looks like he would fit and be about the right scale.
    Great video!!!

      Yeah I think it is just about that scale (given barbie). It really is an amazing jeep.

      @JoeOvercoat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am curious as to how that played out. I expect that you found that Joe fit reasonably well, except you couldn’t put his feet on the pedals, and getting him to hold the steering wheel in a way that the steering wheel and arm could move realistically was problematic.

    The second I saw this on I want to say Big Squid, I wanted one. My other hobby is collecting 1/6 action figures and I've always wanted to convert a DiD 1/6 jeep. Now I don't need to. A bit of advice, stick to Barbie there. You don't want to get into 1/6. It can be just as, if not more of a money pit than RC.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you man....I have a 1:1 collection so I would stick to 1:6...LOL!

  • @JoeOvercoat

    4:25 military vehicles are truly austere. Those are called plates: Nomenclature Plate, Weight & Balance…etc. One can find those plates detailed on the system drawing,where in turn there will be a dimensioned drawing for each plate that dictates the data elements & font. So yah, an authentic detail.
    9:28 That’s the headlight for when you don’t want an airplane to come strafe you, or blow you up (all other lights off). Or a sniper or even artillery for that matter…but fundamentally it is about the air threat. You will see vehicles with slits in covers on the lights for the same purpose.

    I love how you take the piss out of the American jeep by having it driven by a Barby doll. All jokes aside tho. I have the cheapest one of these you can buy for $350.00 AU and it is an amazing rock crawler. • @Nickwillfixit
    @Nickwillfixit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It would not be you if you did not tinker and put your spin on it.
    The Jeep was designed for four burly GI's and the handles were so if it got stuck or hung up the four occupants could lift it up and get it to where it was able to move under it's own steam.
    The shame is that they used coil springs instead of leaf springs as they were designed to have I wish ROC Hobby had gone that route or a third party company made a conversion kit, I know there were kits for some Axial crawlers.
    One of those box's clips to the gun itself and the bullet chain runs in to the gun from it the other is to catch the casings as they drop from the gun, so mounts to the left of the gun and the feed can is to the right.
    I had a 1-1 for many years and it did end up on coil's as I kept snapping leaf's and the ride was awful, this does ride as the 1-1 though so I suppose a good compromise. And yes they were tiny so perfectly in scale with the huge SCX6 which I am toying with getting as I only have large scale gas and a couple of electric a UDR and a SBR, I enjoy this type of video seeing where you go with the vehicle, oh and the wiper arms were green to stay with the camouflage theme, some even came with the rubber painted also as they did very little masking once in the armies hands. The fender light should operate with the blackout side lights not rear and head lights it is a convoy light usually they have a white circle painted on the rear axle housing for the one behind to follow.

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im so glad there are people like you who are totally knowledgeable about these things. Thank you for the information, I know nothing about jeeps at all! I agree that leaf springs would have been better but I think the majority of people would have complained about the lack of articulation, not knowing that one of these jeeps is not 4 linked.

    • @Nickwillfixit
      @Nickwillfixit 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AMPROEngineering Surprising enough you would get the same amount of movement from the scale leaf springs, I have seen a couple of home built Willy's jeeps built with the leaf spring set up and yep drove even more scale like, but I must admit this one moves very much how mine did until I swapped to coils on my 1-1, oh and the casing collection can usually only caught about 20% of the used casing's.

    WHEN YOU TESTED THE STEERING EARLY IN THE VIDEO. THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED WITH THE WHEEL'S LIKE IT SHOULD, BUT WHEN YOU TESTED THE STEERING WITH THE REMOTE. THE STEERING WHEEL DIDN'T TURN WITH THE WHEEL'S EVEN AFTER YOU SCREWED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK ON AFTER IT FELL OFF. WHAT HAPPENED? AS FAR AS THE MACHINE GUN. I DIDN'T PUT THE BULLET'S ALL THE WAY IN LIKE THE GUN LIKE YOU DID, BECAUSE MY BULLET'S WERE JUST HANGING STRAIGHT OUT LIKE THEY WERE JUST FLOATING THERE. IN REAL LIFE. THERE ARE SEVERAL LAYERS OF BULLET'S IN THE AMMO BOX, SO WHEN THE GUN IS BEING USED THEY ARE ACTUALLY ANGLED DOWN AS THEY COME OUT OF THE BOX. WHAT I DID. I PUT THE FIRST BULLET RIGHT ON THE EDGE OF THE GUN AS IF IT'S JUST GOING IN. THIS ALLOWS THE REST OF THE BULLET'S TO HANG DOWN ENOUGH TO LOOK AS IF THEIR COMING OUT OF THE AMMO BOX. IT MAKES IT LOOK ALOT MORE REALISTIC. ON THE OPTIONAL HITCH. YOU TIGHTEN THE SCREW ON THE RIGHT SIDE WITH A 1.5 MM HEX TOOL TO KEEP IT FROM OPENING. THE HOOK'S HANG FROM THE REAR BUMPERS WHERE THE NUMBER'S ARE. NO NEED TO DRILL HOLES. THE AMMO BOX CONNECTS TO THE TOP RIGHT UNDER THE BULLET'S. THEY ALSO SELL WWII 12 INCH MILITARY FIGURES ON AMAZON. THEY FIT PERFECTLY WITH THE JEEP. SORRY IF I SEEM SO PICKY, BUT I'VE BEEN DOING RC, AND BUILDING MILITARY DIORAMA'S FOR 50 YEAR'S. I GUESS I'VE JUST LEARNED TO PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL. ENJOYED YOUR REVIEW. THANK YOU.

    The canvas top looks nothing like what is sold these days,
    There is no Velcro /Tabs anywhere. Instead a sleeve for the forward bar and a single rope strand at each rear corner.
    And this canvas topper requires some tension to keep the grommets placed on the windshield studs. It will require some tension or silicone dabs to hold them in place.
    A lot of changes and QC was not actually checked to verify that it will fit - work.
    I even got a one piece transmitter with mine. So expect inconsistencies when buying from China. Besides the extremely detailed body. Attention to detail is not in the MFGR's forte.
    I'll expect more issues as I look about and attempt to run this thing.
    This isn't my review. But if I were going to rate this thing out of 5, I'd have to give it a 2. 🤨 I'm rather disappointed with my purchase. The Axial SCX6 or even the first SCX-10 is way better built and has some American QC in their MFG'ing. Expect 0 quality control coming out of China and its copy cat MFGR's!
    Don't believe all these youtube reviewers ! They are simply like parrots enthralled by a shiny metal object ! That or they work for China 😏
