Paola I love love this. I was a hot mess at my wedding and the whole year preceding it was so stressful. On my wedding day TBH I didn’t enjoy it. I was so drunk and I couldn’t wait for it to be done with. Over 300 people came including ones I don’t even know. I felt like I had to post everything and check off all the boxes of what I thought it meant to be a bride like the messy bachelorette party, the photo shoots of every angle that I never printed, the expensive video team to record a video I don’t even watch, the huge wedding dress that’s now somewhere in my garage, the favors that only half the guests took home, the little details no one remembers. Kudos to you for not drinking the American wedding Kool-Aid and staying true to yourself and respecting yourself and your loved ones. If I was to do it over again, it’d be simple and small and I’d put the rest as a down payment for a house. Go on girl and do your thing! Congrats love!
I recently had my engagement ceremony a month ago, my wedding is in May. I am already so stressed. My engagement event went smooth, went peacefully and we had fun. Although I missed some minor details on my engagement like the accessories/attire could have been better, I looked simple for a bride, the lighting wasn't proper etc. I am so stressed about what went wrong that the idea of the bigger event, the wedding is giving me anxiety attacks. Looking back, all I remember of the day is not the fun part, but everything else that I didn't do right or could have planned better. It's so sad, that this "wedding business" has made us believe simple is not acceptable. All the hype around the wedding is nothing but an illusion, a social conditioning. All that matters truly is your marriage, the fact that you get to spend your life with the one you love. the only thing that matters on your wedding is the blessings, presence and wishes of your loved ones on that day. Watched this video long back. I needed the reminder from Paola so much today. I hope I am able to let go of the obsessive thoughts and regrets soon.
