I think that will depend a bit on what you are intending to use it for. I am frequently filming in places with too much light so the Panasonic is better for my needs since it has built in ND filters. That Sony is much more portable, cheaper, and has a similar zoom range and sensor size... but it can only do 4k 30fps, not 60fps.
I use Shotcut to edit the videos and export as an MP4 with HEVC. In Shotcut's settings I have a quality based render of about 50%, so with 4k footage it comes out to a very clean (but large) video at an average bitrate of about 30mbs. TH-cam definitely adds compression over that when uploaded.
@@hunsberg I see thanks for the breakdown. I’m assuming that when you watch these videos on your computer they look a lot better than the same video on TH-cam. I have a Sony full frame and I just ordered this camera bc I liked the way your Ireland vlog looked. I need something that’s easier to use and something that I can just grab and record. Do you still have this camera and what’s your opinion of it now that you have used and owned it for quite a while?
Yep I still have it and love it! The battery life, stabilization, and long zoom lense are amazing. I'm usually filming outdoors so I'm always using the ND filters too. Low light performance is... Meh. You can get it to work, but it is a struggle. Also in the camera settings, put the Auto Gain Control to 3db or lower really helps reduce noise.

Thanks! Yes this was on manual with the below settings: -422 23.976 fps 4k -1/48 shutter speed -Gain Control limit 3db -Manual WB -Auto iris -Auto focus -Appropriate ND filter for current shot

Which ND filter to use depended on what the camera recommend when the scene was too light or too dark. Sometimes that was not a good suggestion, so turning on Zebra also helped see when the scene was over exposed. Most of the shots were handheld, except for the Cliffs of Moher and the Ballintoy Beach clips. Those two places were mostly on a tripod.

Love this video and camera, how long is the battery life fully charged using 4k60p?
Thanks! I haven't been filming much at that framerate, but at 4k24p I can easily get 4 hours.

Yep, all from the onboard mic. When it isn't windy it is actually really good.
What are tour export settings when uploading to TH-cam? Does the image degrade when you upload to TH-cam?
